- On the way back from my buddy's house at the Cross Country Estates between Georgetown and Taylor, TX, I couldn't resist taking a short flight down the Lampasas river where it feeds into Lake Stillhouse near Belton and Killeen, TX. The river run is nothing like some of the biger rivers with sand bars and good places to land, but it's always fun to fly down it. I've flown this river many times since 1999 in the Piper PA-16 Clipper, Kitfox, PA-18 Super Cub, and now the Storch. I love flying!
I actually went down there to look at a Piper PA-12 that belongs to Dewey, another friend of mine. I hadn't flown in one since I was a young feller and have been pondering on getting one to do tail wheel instruction. It was just as I thought. I liked it.
Jeff and I flew together in the Army and again at Avenge Inc. He is a great wealth of knowledge and airplane geek. He really loved the Storch. I did a quick take off and landing demo for him as I left.
This Storch was built by a friend of mine named Bob. When he decided to buy a Cessna Bird Dog this one had to go so I bought it. It's a blast to fly and looks great. I'll do more video's including the exterior, but in the mean time check out Erik Johnston on you tube. He did a walk a round video of this at the National STOL Lonestar STOL competition in Gainsville, TX.
I'm going to keep making videos. It's not easy for me and I'm no Trent Palmer, but I'll get better. I know I need to work on an intro. Check out the Fat Tire Cowboys at www.fattirecowboys.com Great swag and great bunch of guys. They inducted me as a media contributor back in October. He used some video snips of me that I posted to facebook with folks like Mike Patey and Steve Henry among others.
I may take this to the Arkanstol back country challenge this year!.
Yee Haww!

Thanks Levi another great flight, cheers kcmx
Yee Haww!
cross at the poles, good idea.
Army training sir! Thanks for watching!
@@LeviNoguess I live here in temple close to Ktpl. Wish we could get our air show back. 10 year volunteer. Blue skies.
Yeah, baby. Nice flight. Thanks for sharing. Sure...you're not Trent Palmer but rememeber...he's not you, either.
Very true!... He's not me. ha ha ha
Great video Levi!
Great vid!
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it. I'm sure having fun with the Storch.
WOW!!
Yep!
Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing your video! It is so satisfying
Thank you for watching!
Very cool ! I always wanted to fly the rivers around here but I’m still quite nervous flying that low . Have landed at Skylark many times but never on the grass
I have flown these rivers for quite a while and always do a High Recon first on a new route.
Hi Levi, thanks for posting the great videos! Very inspirational. I have a Slepcev Storch in the mid to late build phase. I am getting ready to cover mine. Can you answer a few questions please? What prop are you using and how do you like it? What tires are you using on the main gear? They look really good and sized well for the airframe. Do you know what covering process your friend used when building it? The finish looks excellent. Thanks for any info you can provide. Would love to see more Storch videos!
Howdy Ben, Of course I don't mind answering your questions. First the current prop is a Kiev. I think it's 72 inch diameter. It's adequate, but I'm going to try a whirlwind and then eventually an Airmaster constant speed with 75 inch whirlwind blades. The tires are Desser 8.50 x 6. They are perfect for me and they wear pretty well on pavement. The covering is Stitts Polyfiber and Polytone for the color. It's a great looking scheme and Bob did an excellent job. I hope to post more videos soon! Thanks for watching. I look forward to talking with you more. Where are you?
Great video Levi, I run an extra booster battery with my insta 360 camera otherwise my camera goes flat quickly 👍
Thanks for watching. I really need to get better about getting videos out!.... I do sometimes use a battery pack on my 360 also. I sure am liking this Storch!
The internal battery's on my 360 camera are terrible. Yes the Storch is alot of fun but painfully slow. I flew two hours to my brothers farm two days ago in the morning. My return flight took me 3 1/2hrs into a stiff head wind. I just sat back and enjoyed the view. The trucks on the highway were going past me but great fun.😁
@@storchman7314 I'll be putting out some more video soon, but I just flew this Storch all the way from Texas to California and back!.... to do that STOL competition in Yuma Arizona. 35 hours round trip. 20 knot headwind most of the way both directions.... Yee Haww!
Ha ha well done that is alot of hours sitting in the seat, I look forward to your next videos. Fly safe
The Storch interests me but I'm 6'3 and question how well I'll fit. I just barely fit in a Piper Cub and it's not comfortable.
It's actually a little roomier than a stock supercub, but there aren't any new ones available and folks just don't sell them often.
@@LeviNoguess they stopped making the kits? That's disappointing. Hopefully when I'm actually in a position to buy an aircraft they resumed production.
Nice video Levi. How long have you had that plane?
Thanks Steven. I've had it since July 2021. It's a blast!
