It was one of the most popular games on the Roblox platform garnering 5000-10000 players at all times. After 2-3 years of development, the developers got a cease-and-desist from Nintendo and had to take the game down in 2018. There were many other Pokémon fangames on Roblox, but they all got deleted at the same time around 2018-2019 shortly after Pokémon Brick Bronze. Pokémon Brick Bronze was by far the most popular and was the first casualty.

I remember the teacher at the time had a sit down with the whole class and ranted on why Pokemon was bad (mainly cuz two kids spent recess time trading Pokémon cards). She even went lengths to say that Pikachu is a Japanese god…. Yeah… safe to say now I gained my childhood back
My mom thought the anime was “too violent” and would only let me watch one episode per week, but I ended up being so in love with the franchise that she eventually gave up, and probably realized she had overreacted. Thinking back to that time is kinda funny to me, because I almost can’t imagine my life if Pokémon hadn’t become my #1 childhood obsession
Same with my mom! 😂 She also thought that the anime was way too violent and believed that it promoted animal cruelty/abuse when she didn't understood about the fact that pokemon don't mind battling. But as i got older, she also decided to just let me enjoy the pokemon franchise and little by little she became ok with it. There were even times whenever she saw some episodes with me, she even told me that the episode that she really liked was the one with jessie's friendship with a blissey from the johto season 🥺 But yea, i'm glad my mom eventually saw that pokemon is one of my favorite franchises. heck! The Brock thing seems really silly considering many other anime characters have eyes like his and the show is made by a Japanese animation studio. Also he looked like that in the game to being with so really gamefreak made the base for his design.
Yup, I think the worst part is that the original series of the indigo league had Brock as a core cast member for Ash's journey in Kanto. So deciding to ditch him for the possibly of being perceived as racist in terms of eyes is a bit strange given the fact that it is literally the Japanese making the show, Brock has been a core member of the show for a large part, his entire family aside from his mother also has been shown to have the same design for eyes, and that Brock is black not asian. Of course Brock is not in every season of the show, but he was a widely popular character in the show. Brock having slashed eyes is probably the least stereotypical thing the show has to worry about. Pretty sure the idea of having his father being a stereotypical run-away-dad is worse, but even then the anime does have the issue face front and center when his father does return and take care of his family. So even then most of the stereotypes they could worry about are treated with care.

People online apparently think Iris is either part black or Indian, as opposed to Brock which they believe is either part Ainu( I think other fans suggested as it was one of the ethnic groups of Japan that had darker skin tones) or black. Apparently though there seems to be more certainty among fans that Hop and Leon are black though as opposed to being from a ethnic group from Japan with darker skin tones or Indian.

People with ainu ancestry aren't super common in real life Kanto you find them more north towards Hokkaido, which is where Sinnoh/Hisui is based on. With Iris I think its pretty safe shes black since her skintone and how her hair is drawn is much closer to other characters like Nessa and Lenora rather than a character with pretty clear Native American inspiration such as Alder or Benga(
@@pixelatedmess9269 My best guess for why I would say 75% of the uncultured fans, me included, draw the assumption that Brock is black is mostly due of course the darker skin tone along with dark hair, the nature of his story with parallels to stereotypes, and the fact that for some reason someone from around the 2010s decided to make a meme of Brock impersonating Barack Obama. Also the main fact that you pointed out of how uncommon it is to meet any Ainu people given how they are more prevalent towards Hokkaido as opposed to Kanto. Which is unfortunate given the fact that I am guessing that there are some specific cultural aspects for Brock that were very subtle throughout the anime or were never delved into in regards of where his character is supposed to originate from. As for Iris, if I were to take a guess I would still place it first guess being Indian and second guess being black. From my point of view aside from skin tone, I think the specific thing is that her hair seems to give off more feelings of indian based designed, something about the shape and the way it ties. I of course could be completely wrong though. Also I did not actually even consider her being Native American, but I would probably place the probability of it behind the other two possibilities. Even despite Unova being based off of New York so there would be a more likely occurrence of a black character in a region based off The US. Also Nessa and Lenora I had a bit harder time to gauge a possibility of which they are based on, my only excuse being that I did not watch the anime for the seasons they were in neither the games they were involved in. Hop and Leon, I just pulled a quick search which is the first African based character in pokemon and apparently a lot of people had Hop and Leon apparently. But the UK has a lot of places they have colonized so there is a lot of transfers from Africans, Indians, Chinese, and many more. So Leon and Hop being one or the other, mixed or unclear is something I could agree on. But yeah I could split the difference and go Bengali.

58:06 The reason for Unown being related to WW2 victims is because in the 1997 Spaceworld demo, which was supposed to take place in the entirety of Japan, the city that would represent Hiroshima was surrounded by routes with dead vegetation and pokemon referencing maybe the effects of radiation on living beings (such as doduo or girafarig, for example). The city of Hiroshima had a building in the center, ruins of some kind, in which its walls were covered by pictures or paintings similar to the ones in the ruins of alph, but instead of depicting letters, these depicted people, possibly referencing the shadows that the victims of the Hiroshima bombing left behind after the explosion. This was probably scrapped and repurposed into the whole Unown mystery, but the initial plan may have been for Unown to represent actual WW2 victims.
This helps explain the theory better than the last time I heard it. I first heard of this theory about a week ago on another iceberg video and the logic in that one was that if you line the Ruins of Alph (as it is in the complete Johto) up with the map of Japan then it's near Hiroshima and I knew that was absolutely false because I don't even think the real life region of Kansai is near Hiroshima. But now being told that the ruins might have been around the general Hiroshima area in the original map, that explains it better.

One of the funniest forum threads I read in a while was on a Christian website and it was about a mother whose son was playing Persona 3. But yeah it's a miracle those games only really caught on after much of the religious panic over video games had mostly ended (and even then, it was mainly the spinoff series that focused less on angels, demons, holy wars, etc. and more on high schoolers with magical powers that became popular)

That explains why the Zoroark disappears. N simply recalls it into its pokeball until he later uses it in his fight vs the player. That scene I feel is meant moreso to showcase how synchronized N is with his pokemon, being able to communicate plans that are a bit more complex than the ones regular people usually make with their pokemon. As for him looking like a Zoroark, trainers vaguely resemble their signature pokemon all the time. Riley from Gen 4 (the Lucario guy) being a prominent example. If he were actually a Zoroark disguised as a human, wouldn’t he then try to look as different from a Zoroark as possible to minimize suspicion? It’s a cool theory, but in the end it seems more like a mystery exercise than an actual mystery. Where someone noticed those details at surface value, then said “wouldn’t it be fun if _ were true?”

Normally, you talk with a relevant NPC but for that one N's Zoroark rushes you and the flashback occurs; but Zoroark isn't there in the flashback, instead N was revealed to have been listening in on the conversation. Personally, I think N being a zoroark would ruin his character. N being a human that can talk to pokemon, which isn't a normal thing in the pokemon universe, is much more interesting than a zoroark in disguise, which is something that is normal for zoroark. N being a pokemon would also remove some of the weight to his story, Ghetsis calling N a "Freak without a human heart" would be much less impactful if N literally didn't have a human heart. Also, some people believe that N is autistic-coded, so him being an animal would be kinda ableist.

One thing I don't see people really talk about, which probably is due to not many (understandably so) bothering to watch the like 1000+ episodes of the anime, is that they at some point seemed to have turned Ash into a vegetarian lmao. Or whatever you'd call someone in that world who wouldn't eat any pokémon, including grass types and ones based on food xD But I noticed that when watching Journeys, so idk when exactly it actually started, since we all know scenes like him thinking about how Magikarp tastes like in the Indigo League episodes. But in Journeys for example, I can't think of a single instance where he ate a meat dish, which is a fun detail to think about. Idk how many viewers can say this, but I've followed Pokemon since the beginning 😊 I'm old enough to have *played in a physical Pokemon League, with the cards, at Toys R Us in the 90s* 😅 I grew up with Pokemon, so it'll always hold a nostalgic place in my heart. Pokémon and science would absolutely mix! It's just not our world's science! It does however incorporate several chemical reactions into certain mons, and moves, and real world happenings in animals that all take scientific observation to know that it is a species-based behavior. All of that is taken into consideration especially now, but even back then, too! I think the study of the creatures of their world, while being sent by a professor to observe species, and learning how their world's physics works is sciency enough for me

As for Iris, if I were to take a guess I would still place it first guess being Indian and second guess being black. From my point of view aside from skin tone, I think the specific thing is that her hair seems to give off more feelings of indian based designed, something about the shape and the way it ties. I of course could be completely wrong though. Also I did not actually even consider her being Native American, but I would probably place the probability of it behind the other two possibilities. Even despite Unova being based off of New York so there would be a more likely occurrence of a black character in a region based off The US. Also Nessa and Lenora I had a bit harder time to gauge a possibility of which they are based on, my only excuse being that I did not watch the anime for the seasons they were in neither the games they were involved in.
Hop and Leon, I just pulled a quick search which is the first African based character in pokemon and apparently a lot of people had Hop and Leon apparently. But the UK has a lot of places they have colonized so there is a lot of transfers from Africans, Indians, Chinese, and many more. So Leon and Hop being one or the other, mixed or unclear is something I could agree on. But yeah I could split the difference and go Bengali.

The city of Hiroshima had a building in the center, ruins of some kind, in which its walls were covered by pictures or paintings similar to the ones in the ruins of alph, but instead of depicting letters, these depicted people, possibly referencing the shadows that the victims of the Hiroshima bombing left behind after the explosion. This was probably scrapped and repurposed into the whole Unown mystery, but the initial plan may have been for Unown to represent actual WW2 victims.

This helps explain the theory better than the last time I heard it. I first heard of this theory about a week ago on another iceberg video and the logic in that one was that if you line the Ruins of Alph (as it is in the complete Johto) up with the map of Japan then it's near Hiroshima and I knew that was absolutely false because I don't even think the real life region of Kansai is near Hiroshima. But now being told that the ruins might have been around the general Hiroshima area in the original map, that explains it better.

The reason real world animals were shown in the early days of Pokémon is because the original concept was them living alongside animals and humans as a third species type, kinda like an inbetween state of the two. N has a Zoroark on his team.
That explains why the Zoroark disappears. N simply recalls it into its pokeball until he later uses it in his fight vs the player. That scene I feel is meant moreso to showcase how synchronized N is with his pokemon, being able to communicate plans that are a bit more complex than the ones regular people usually make with their pokemon.
As for him looking like a Zoroark, trainers vaguely resemble their signature pokemon all the time. Riley from Gen 4 (the Lucario guy) being a prominent example. If he were actually a Zoroark disguised as a human, wouldn’t he then try to look as different from a Zoroark as possible to minimize suspicion?
It’s a cool theory, but in the end it seems more like a mystery exercise than an actual mystery. Where someone noticed those details at surface value, then said “wouldn’t it be fun if _ were true?”
By this time in the game it is explicitly stated that N has released all his pokemon except the box legendary :)
Another big evidence is the Memory Link feature, where you learn about some stuff between B/W and the sequels, such as how Iris became champion or just Skyla and Elesa hanging out.

Normally, you talk with a relevant NPC but for that one N's Zoroark rushes you and the flashback occurs; but Zoroark isn't there in the flashback, instead N was revealed to have been listening in on the conversation. Thus, it was N's memory in the guise of Zoroark (~~or Zoroark was just in its Pokeball at the time.~~)

N being a pokemon would also remove some of the weight to his story, Ghetsis calling N a "Freak without a human heart" would be much less impactful if N literally didn't have a human heart. Also, some people believe that N is autistic-coded, so him being an animal would be kinda ableist.

But in Journeys for example, I can't think of a single instance where he ate a meat dish, which is a fun detail to think about. They ended up highlighting his love for Pokémon so much that he lives completely by the motto "Pokémon are friends, not food!" I suppose lol

So Marill is actually referred to as Pikablu on a Topps/Nintendo trading card for the official movie.

Pokémon and science would absolutely mix! It's just not our world's science! It does however incorporate several chemical reactions into certain mons, and moves, and real world happenings in animals that all take scientific observation to know that it is a species-based behavior. All of that is taken into consideration especially now, but even back then, too! I think the study of the creatures of their world, while being sent by a professor to observe species, and learning how their world's physics works is sciency enough for me
