I'm not saying Casey hasn't done anything wrong, but it's pretty evident that she is a very emotional person who holds onto bad feelings and has a hard time letting go. Honeymoon phase has passed for these two and the true test of their relationship will depend on whether or not they can see past through each others flaws (and baggage) and not hold on to resentment, especially over mundane things, like Erik was talking about.

After 17 years of marriage, the biggest fight we have is when she doesn't realize that it's time to let it go. She gets home and vents about work. That's fine. I want her to do that. Six hours later, or even her off days, she's still talking about it. That anger is still right there at the surface. I keep telling her that it's not healthy for her. I'm a slow burner. I let it build to a point and then I blow my stacks. Which is usually the times where she pulls a fit that doesn't make sense. For example, our son loves pushing her buttons and, at some point, she'll be like "You guys finish grocery shopping. I'm not getting anything to eat. I'm going to the car!" She's only punishing herself and it frustrates me. Her anger is still from what happened at work yesterday, but our son just get throwing gasoline on the fire (mixed with tnt). As far as being angry with each other, it rarely happens, rarely last for more than an hour, and is never brought up again. Don't get me wrong. I'm not perfect by any means. There have been a few times afterwards where I'm like "That was fucking childish of me". But, you have to recognize those moments, deal with it, and move on.
Andromydous Some people just vent a lot. My moms like that. I hear her stories over and over. Telling them to calm down and not vent is NOT going to help them. For some people it’s unhealthy to NOT vent out their feelings I think. I’m sure she would really appreciate it if you listened to her vent as much as possible and engaged with her story. Or maybe direct her attention to something else that’s a little more lighthearted. Maybe start telling her about your day or something that might make her laugh or interest her? After 17 years of marriage, the biggest fight we have is when she doesn't realize that it's time to let it go. She gets home and vents about work. That's fine. I want her to do that. Six hours later, or even her off days, she's still talking about it. That anger is still right there at the surface. I keep telling her that it's not healthy for her. I'm a slow burner. I let it build to a point and then I blow my stacks. Which is usually the times where she pulls a fit that doesn't make sense. For example, our son loves pushing her buttons and, at some point, she'll be like "You guys finish grocery shopping. I'm not getting anything to eat. I'm going to the car!" She's only punishing herself and it frustrates me. Her anger is still from what happened at work yesterday, but our son just get throwing gasoline on the fire (mixed with tnt). As far as being angry with each other, it rarely happens, rarely last for more than an hour, and is never brought up again. Don't get me wrong. I'm not perfect by any means. There have been a few times afterwards where I'm like "That was fucking childish of me". But, you have to recognize those moments, deal with it, and move on.

In a relationship you guys are partners... if something upsets one person, the other should be there to support / listen / comfort. *Both men and women* need to hear “it’s okay we will fix this, we will sort it out” and in Steve’s case sounds like he totally brick walled Nikki and she needed someone to tell her it’s gonna be okay etc 🤷🏼♀️
