    Dude, you’re going to go broke if you keep operating in this manner! You should always have 3 - 4 gallons of Coolant spare on your Truck, along with many other things. That leak wasn’t that bad. You could’ve made it to a Shop, by stopping every once in a while and adding a little more Coolant. Also, that Leah could have been fixed by you, right there on the spot, by cutting off that little bad piece of Hose, and re-connecting and clamping, there’s almost always enough slack on a Hose to do this, even just temporarily. I have done this many times. You should always carry some Spare Hoses on your Truck.. Keep this in mind Yousiff, that 98% of the time a Hose starts leaking, it’s gonna be right around where the Clamp is, you simply cut off the bad part, stretch the Hose to go back on and re-clamp it. This will at a minimum get you to a Shop, where YOU, should buy a new Hose and replace it, YOURSELF! You are gonna have to learn how to do these Basic Repairs yourself, or ALL of your Profits are going to go for paying Mechanics and Roadside Service. This is Insane!
    I have been Trucking for 30+ years, and NEVER have I ever used a Roadside Service, for anything other than a blown Tire, and even then only 1 time. I will usually limp it to a Tire Shop somewhere to keep from having to pay the OUTRAGEOUS prices that they charge for Roadside Tire repairs. I am trying to help you, not knock you down. I have all the respect in the world for anyone with the Balls to start their own Trucking Business. It is a daunting task, for those that have never tried it. My GF and I just started our own Trucking Business (her 2nd and my 3rd one) about a year ago, during the height of COVID, what a pain in the ass. Lol

    Waste of time and money. Since you have coolant you should keep the reservoir topped off and drive to the shop or parts store, a kenworth or cummins dealer even. You won’t hurt the engine. Some problems are severe and require road service...this isn’t one of them.

      I agree. The overflow tank down to halfway is not an issue. Take it slow and watch the water and oil temp gauges like a hawk.

      Looks like a heater hose. You can always pinch it off with some vice grips. Or a lot of engines will have taps you can just shut them off. In a desperate situation in the past I've even cut a split section of hose out and slid it up all the whilst avoiding severe burns. You may have been better off to top it up and get more coolant at your nearest auto service station to get you to a truck stop with a shop. Just saying.

      Crazy not having a simple tool box with u any ape would manage even a simple bodge job to get u going till u got to a mechanics even rapping the pipe with electrical tape would slow it down

    He doesn’t take credit cards on the weekends when he doesn’t want the company to know he used their truck on a call and pockets the cash. He said he was already on a call so he grabs your repair on the way back for cash in HIS pocket

      @@francomtz7115 I think it's a grey almost illegal area. You can't walk into Best Buy and ask them to sell you $1000 Flat screen TV without cash register so you won't pay $90 in sales tax. You can do it online thoigh if you live outside of the sellers state but not when you make the sales transaction in person... Plus without receipt you can't have the warranty

    Always carry coolant and a Role of Hose and Emergency Self Fusing Silicone Tape. It will help you get to a better spot to do a more permanent repair.

      Yeah if you are buying your own truck, you have to be really mechanically minded, or you can spend a lot of money to someone else on repairs. like the blue colour.

    Tough lesson there, but you will get it man. I am super proud of you for living out your dream. New O/Os don't usually think about these things until they occur. When you're done with this run, go ahead and get you a nice emergency repair kit and tool box set up. Will help tremendously.

    I always keep 7 to 10 gallons of water, 4 gallons on 100% antifreeze, for this exact reason. In my 14 years of trucking I used my supplies once in the Utah mountains, stay prepped truckers.

      you never put regular water in the cooling system when mixing with antifreeze. if it's not distilled water. it will corrode everything in your block.

    When rolling with used rigs check out all hose sizes you got on the truck and clamp sizes and stock up with couple feet with all of them keep under the bed. In reality it’s a $5 hose and $5 clamp and on the road it’ll cost you $5/600.. plus waiting and potentially missing your delivery pickup etc. stay safe and watch out cause you’ll get robbed out here with roadside
    Also if I was you you’d be better off getting an Uber and running to an autozone Napa or whatever and get rolling

      @@alaskahaul2085 yessir! My air tank valve got ripped off today by the line and god knows how much roadside would charge since I couldn’t move: took a bolt and some washers and put through the hole and plugged up the valve and got rolling. All about saving money out here whenever possiblen

    You should get some Rescue Tape from PILOT and when this happens you could've just put some on and added coolant and made it to a shop. I've done it on a bigger hose

    When you are planning on keeping a used vehicle, and it has to be reliable, I would replace all those heater hoses. I assume you will want to get hundreds of thousands of miles, and very little breakdown time. If you go around and squeeze rubber hoses, they may feel crunchy or too soft, before they break.

    mechanics across the nation are going to love your money, loosen cap slowly to let off pressure, fill, leave cap loose and drive to parts store, if your engine is programmed for low coolant shutdown would have been the only issue, most are set to warning, if it had leaked with cap loose, to those in chat the yellow knobs are to shut off the apu coolant, i didnt see him drain the coolant and i didnt see shut off valves on the engine, if your engine did have shut off valves, y ou could have closed those and driven anywhere.

      Very true. I lost $8k after helping a guy with is inframe on a X15. Said I charged more than was quoted and the charges were reversed.

    I would pay a mechanic to go over truck have him inspect everything and let you know if he sees anything that should be fixed.have check brakes drive line u joints.than you will have list of things you can than plan on replaceing so not stuck on side of road

      @@RaoulThomas007 Since the pump was a warranty, it's unlikely they'd be recommending more repairs they'd have to potentially pay for. Even mentioning them as a possible repair could make them considered liable if they failed in the litigious world we live in.

    In a semi I always open it hot. Just crack it until it releases the pressure. It's not like a car where it just flys off.

      @@dangda-ww7de there is a old trick that he should do and poke the top of the coolant cap with a needle making a small hole and you’ll never have to worry about exploding when it’s hot ..

    Looks like they were heater hoses and they usually have taps that you can turn off supply of coolant between engine and heater unit.
    2 taps have to be turned off.
    You can learn but the money he charged you was crazy.

      Sadly, KW puts the heater shutoff valves on the wrong side of the hose this gentleman had replaced. We install block mounted valves for many customers on various trucks for this exact reason. If a heater hose or heater core bursts, you do NOT want it to be what strands you.
      One other note: those blue silicone coolant hoses require either spring clamps or special worm clamps with hose protection sleeves on them otherwise they will extrude the silicone right through the little worm drive holes in the clamp. Generally, Gates Greenstripe EPDM rubber heater hoses have had the best service lives in my experience.

    im glad you got the patience for this.....i had a 1977 Mack RS700, and a 1985 R685....was a dump truck broker....the EPA basically shut me down....oh yes, my father left me alot of money, but beyond the point i saw my check book going down down and down....i now have 13 years with the BNSF railway as a road conductor, and now when i brake down there are 3 other diesels to rely on....all this tech crap on these trucks is a blow to the gut for some young SIR like you....give it hell my goodman, your a better man than me for doing this, with out you or nation stops!

    It looks like the hose to the heater core, and you could have isolated the leak by shutting off those 2 yellow valves and driven it until you got some hose.

    You probably have air in the coolant system now... have someone bleed it out or watch some RUclips videos and how to bleed it out. Air pockets can cause overheating issues even though you top it off.

    You need learn to maintain yourself, like Filters, clamps, etc, and get spareparts, filters, Belts, and keep them constantly with Tools in your Truck, and for bigger overhauling repairs you shut find a cheap and good Mechanic. 👍😉Good Luck.

    First of all, kudos for your safety precautions with the vest and triangles! Way too many drivers doesn't take a minute to do this, but skipping this easy step can cost a life.
    Those hoses are exposed of quite some heat from the exhaust and turbo. You should consider making a heat shield to protect the hoses from premature failure.
    And one more thing, as a trucker i recommend that you measure out the majority of hoses on the truck and buy some lenghts of the different sizes along with a variety of hose clamps to keep with you in the truck. This is great to have in your toolbox together with zip ties, air hose fittings, wd-40 and other miscellaneous stuff for easy road side repairs. Be safe out there and keep on truckin! :)

    you could have made it at least another 50miles no problem with that small of a leak. I've had my radiator leak way worse. but a word of advice ..I've learned the hard way that if you wanna make it in this business you need to be able to start being more hands-on with your truck and preparing yourself better. always carry coolant or jugs of water. and just a reminder with your cummins isx stay on top of those emission sensors their cheap and can save you thousands. don't wait to find out, stay safe out there.

    Yup, I just drove my 1999 FLD with a punctures surge tank (the metal one) for 1100 miles. Ordered on Amazon, finished my trip, got home and replaced it in the comfort of my own yard. Come on man (as Biden would say), it was just a hose, you could have topped off with water, keep your eyes on the gauges and drive on. It is your business, your money, but one thing is for sure. Mechanics will love 💕 💕 💕 you.

    Always keep extra silicone hose, clamps, and connectors on the truck. Easy to patch it up until you can make it somewhere to get the right hose

    I’m not a trucker but if I was owner operator like you I would ask other truckers what the have for spares and tools. At the truck stops look for owner operator like you, look for the ones that look crusty and old with lots of experience.

    Lesson learned, a set of needle nose vice grips are mandatory in your truck. Great for air and coolant leaks.
    Also, if your truck needed coolant it's telling you there is a leak.

    Last October I blew the rear diff out. But truck was still moving even tho I was fully loaded. I was like well she’s still moving. I wasn’t paying a tow truck to take me 150 miles. Drove it 150 miles to a peterbuilt shop and got it rebuilt.

    As soon as possible get into a shop and replace all the hoses. When one lets go the others are just as old and just as likely to burst:out in the middle of $680.00 no-where.Carry cash young man: any time I do a road trip (always actually) I have $3000.00 to $4000.00 on me(and a .45).

    You almost stop my heart when you wiggle that coolant hose. Had that plastic piece broke when you wiggle it, it would of spray coolant on your hand and face, and the gloves are not made for hot liquid, it would of burn you really bad!! Talking by experience. Dont ever do that again.

      My cousin had a hose burst on him. He got third degree burns all over his chest. The hot water soaked in his shirt and messed him up. Lifetime scars now. Let that shit cool down.

      @@michaelhall9138 Why would it take a month to go cross-country? The range is longer than a diesel, charge time might be a little longer, but it's just enough for a trucker to take a break. As far as maintenance is concerned, there's pretty well nothing to breakdown on electric vehicle.

    put a sleeve or a protector around your new and old hoses-- because you have extra heat from the exhaust friend--also get extra hose in the future and clamps and coolant-

    You should always get an oil analysis done when you buy a truck it will give you the best indication on the condition of the engine

    What you'll learn as time goes by is that you'll carry enough parts in your truck to handle almost every roadside problem. It takes many years but you'll get there. Old Red (my trusty 30 year old cabover) has two large side boxes full of almost everything from tire repair to the tip of the exhaust. Every noise, every glitch becomes a part of your life and you'll know your equipment better than you know yourself. Hang in there kid,...drive safe.

      @@markf2720 Thankfully I learned early on to never buy a used tire (that alone has changed the game), but since you brought it up. I start with a set of cats eyes to monitor tire pressure. Then I have an in cab wireless sensor set on all axles. (That usually gets me tire safe). if I have a blow out. I carry a set of irons and I have all one size tires on everything. I haul light so removing one dual doesn't harm anything. (I'm registered at 59,000lbs) I'll take the offending tire off the wheel (outside tire) and I have a rechargeable impact to remove wheels (along with a bottle jack) for the inside. I have all position tires on steers and trailer, so if a steer goes, I have at least 4 on the trailer to chose from.( I usually have the front axle lifted since I haul light). If its a nail, I have a heavy duty plug kit, and an air line hose to reinflate. I hate waiting for road service. I stopped hauling 48,000lbs of freight a long time ago since it doesn't pay any better than light freight. My heaviest load in the last 15 years has been 22k. I mainly haul under 10k.

      @@markf2720 You used tyre instead of tire, so I assume that you're not hauling in the US, but over here the one thing that you can't control is the garbage on the sides of the road, roads, and parking lots. You can do all the preventive maint. you want on the vehicles, but where your vehicle touches the road,...no control. The cats eyes and temp/pressure wireless has saved me a dozen times over the years. Most of the time I don't even have to get out of the truck,...just head to the next tire shop. I used to do it with an infrared heat gun, but now I only check my wheel bearings and moving parts once a day to keep track of potential issues.

    Could haveWhere are your tools, and always carry some spares, ie, hose, filters, you could have topped up the coolant and ran it with the cap off to stop it pressurising until you get to a repair shop.

    If I’m not mistaken you could just close those yellow valves on the hoses that will stop the coolant going to the heater core and will stop any leak after the valves till you get to a shop, down side you will not get hot air in the cab 😬

    This is happening with nearly all the new freightliners from mexico. They are hand tightening the brass fitting. I have word of atleast 7 of them

    I'm amazed at how you keep your cool.
    Just a FYI, a lot of times when you have a leaking hose where the leak is right by the clamp.
    A lot of times you can take they first off and cut it back just behind the leak and put it back on.
    In my experience, there's usually enough length in the hose to allow you to do this.

    The guy was doing you a favor because the other hose was about to go out. maybe not for a little more while but it probably have the same life left as the husband already went out. You don't want another leak in the middle of nowhere again.

    I can't see it very clear but the two yellow knobs are for your air conditioning. If it is those close those until you get it fixed. You open them, like they are now, in the summer and close them in the winter.

    If this was new, brand new it’s a lemon. I have a 2021 Cascadia and at 9,000 miles had a major oil leak in it. Had to replace seals in the engine block! Problem is that these are made so quick in the factory!

    Got to fix it yourself out in the outback. Must have spares or as some have said some tape, clips and some small size copper tube to cut and join pipes just to get you on your way. You have the right attitude, wipe the tears and just get back on it.

    I would try to call the nearest loves or TA. truck stop and have them come out to help you. But I would still recommend you call them to see if they will let you use a card or maybe they can bill you?

    Welcome to real trucking, $630.00 for a $40.00 part. You have to keep lots of spare parts for your truck in it, just for occasion. Belts, hoses, air lines, fluids, wiper blades, fuses, lights all, duct tape, wire, assortment of bolts, nuts, washer, and screws. That's just some.

    I busted the hose clam on the upper radiator hose and I didn’t sit on the side of the road. Got my truck to my load destination, dropped my trailer to get loaded then went to the parts store for a new clamp. I don’t waste my time with road side shops. I fix it myself and I get my truck where it needs to go. My truck makes money by not stopping for little things like a small leak

    if your coolant reservoir is full and it's a small leak you limp the truck slowly and on the way, you keep checking the level and that hose looks like a heater hose doesn't turn the heater on until you get it fixed 50 miles is nothing. watch the temp and keep it cool DON'T PANIC.

    When I drove a company truck, Volvo with a Cummins. One of my heater hoses busted in Northern CA, in the mountains. I lost all coolant. I just cut the bad section out, Then stretched what was the left of the hose back into the fitting. Lucky I was pulling dry freight. So I took a hose clamp from the reefer. And got water from a river that was nearby. Had to do something, no signal where I was. Back road, dodge a scale type route. Good times man, not really.

    Looks like it’s before the heater hose supply, you could either top it off and drive somewhere. Or turn those heater core supply valves off but you won’t have heater inside until you fix it.

    You should put vest on, put triangles out first. Not after you set cameras, open hood, check things. IMO if you are leaking. Tape the hose, do not tighten radiator cap, (so system not pressurized) fill with strait water. Turn on heat in cab(if it starts getting hot) and limp to auto parts store. Watching gauges. Worst case find decent place to park, hire a Uber to take you to auto parts store, back.
    I have disconnected hoses to dash heat in order to use the hose to drive truck until I could buy new quality hoses. Took supply to dash, hooked where return from dash went. Then cut chunk of return hose to replace busted hose. (It was sumner so no heat in cab didn’t hurt)
    Start a used parts bag. Replace hoses, belts and put old ones in bag. If the new ones fail. The old will get you home. When driving my car I’m sunk. Few tools, no parts. But it’s not as $$$ to get it off the interstate. Shops, dealers everywhere...
    If you can live stream. Do that when you break down. Lots of folks who could give advice. Might even be in area. Could buy hoses, bring them.
    Any car mechanic can replace hoses

    Looks like those hoses are heater hoses and that they bake over the exhaust. Needs shielding. Bad design by KW.

    I had a coupling burst off shooting all fluid from engine and radiator. Drove it 10 miles with up hills letting it coast downhill for fresh air and cooling a bit.... took me a while to get to a truck stop but those diesel engines can take a beating.... still called roadside but damn wasn't half that amount of $.... the most annoying part was waiting since part for hose was 3 towns away.... small leaks like that will hold for a good while especially if you still have coolant in there..... 10 or 12 gallons it took to refill mine so there is enough to get you somewhere unless in my case literally blows out every drop lol.....

    Usually if it’s leaking at connection where hose and metal meets, you can use pliers to loosen up the clamps and pull the hose on the pipe

    I had the same problem with the same truck, had dealer look at it they did a pressure test and turn out it was leaking from the back hose,they just tighten the clamp and now it works fine.

    Prepare yourself for next time. Have some hoses clamps tools for next time. Always have things you could need. Water, extra oil etc. That was pretty expensive.

    Those hoses goes to sleeper heater or apu. Just bypass it, very easy fix.

    I dislike my 2020 T680. I used coolant & oil far more than the Freightliner Cascadia. The 12 speed MAT also sucks.
