Mystic comes from the greek word "My" and it means to close your eyes. A Mystic closes his eyes and opens his mind and inner senses to receive the messages of life. She or He tries to encounter the miracle of life and his heal-some spirit (power). As such he can become a role model for spirituality for others. love Karaviro
I am a mystic, a true mystic isn't such by choice, What happens is..one has an experience with the devine...and falls head over heels in love with the devine...then feels the overwhelming bliss from the devine and just wants to share the knowledge with the rest of the world..
A mystic is someone who has, according to many who are thought of as such, touched the Truth of reality. They will understand Oneness. Paradox is not a paradox anymore to them. Spiritual knowledge comes from their very being. Not from any book or scripture or even human thought. Being a mystic means union with The Beloved, as some call it. In other words, The Divine/Higher power/The All etc. It is called a spiritual marriage. Intense Love for The Beloved is one of the signs of a mystic, although, not all mystics will have this type of relationship with The One. It can be different for each mystic. It is a never-ending path. You don't stop learning and growing. The One is called the Truth. The One transcends any words, ideas, writings etc about it. It cannot be talked about, because of that. Words don't do it justice. It will only limit it. Being a mystic is to walk in Love, and they will have a lot of humility. At least, that is my understanding of it. I call myself a mystic and am on a mystic path. Higher Power has given me a blessing and for that I am truly grateful. You don't need to use divination to be a mystic. But I do. Sometimes though, spiritual knowledge just comes to me. It doesn't come from me. It's always about things I would have never thought about or understood. I also feel an intense Love for Higher Power, and that Love is given back to me. Sometimes miracles can happen with mystics. Not all the time though. Again, it depends on the mystic. Mysticism is this path to The Divine. Sometimes, mystics are normal human beings, who through some type of occurrence, have touched a Higher Reality. One that transcends. It changes their very being in some way. It isn't just for saints. Sometimes, like in my case, it happened when i wasn't even searching for it. It just came out of nowhere. Also, you don't need to believe in any entity to be a mystic. I personally don't believe in fairies, angels, demons etc. Only Higher Power is real to me. As long as you understand the mystic reality, you are one.
Hey!!! Quit talking about me!!! ;-) I haven't figured out how to do any actual practices yet, but you've tapped completely into how I see the world. I have been searching and searching for the meaning of my life. This video explained it all for me. I no longer believe in coincidences, but that of fate. I see and hear things that are not physical. It is so hard to explain a vision where there is no language, but only a thought and feeling that compells me to take action. I believe there are Angels guiding me and protecting me, and as long I listen and open to them I can hear and see them, but not with my eyes and ears, sound familiar?
I'm a mystic I follow Divine truth and I listen to the messages that I receive from mr Creator and my wonderful Divine Celestial team that gives me wonderful information to transform my life into beauty and I' am so grateful. I have been told by the preist of my parish that I am a mystic. After listening to your description I have to agree. He told me that mystics are the one percent of one percent of humans ever born on this earth. That is why they are misunderstood and sometimes evern feared.

I have a spiritual director, the parish preist, he helps me figure out things some times. I am really not suppose to discuss any of it with anyone else.

sounds like a mystic could simply be one who is interested in "self actualization" as brought to popular understanding by Maslow... which I think is synonomous with the idea of "enlightenment"... Helen, by your description of a mystic, and my description of enlightenment, i do believe this indicates that you are enlightened ! I like this, thank you!
I got a tarot reading done for me saying that I might be a mystic without even knowing what a mystic is, I found this and I 100% agree. I was especially struck when it said that Mystics often mix different religions together to form their paths which is exactly what I have done with a combination of Islam and Buddhism. Searching for awakening, the truth, well I guess I might really be a mystic after all.
