  • Yamaha FZ6 battery is located under the tank, so with this method you can charge it without access to battery and no extra wires needed. Just locate the voltage regulator under the seat, bull out the connector and connect your chargers positive clip on red wire by using extra pin or so. #bikehack
    Yamaha FZ6 akku on tankin alla, tällä konstilla voit ladata sitä ilman pääsyä akulle, etkä tarvitse ylimääräisiä johtoja. Paikallista jännitteensäädin penkin alta, irroita liitin ja liitä laturin plus-johto liittimen punaiseen johtoon käyttäen esimerkiksi ylimääräistä liittimen pinniä.

      I usyally connect that to the fuse box.. Check what fuse turns on and off by ignition and connect it to those wires..👌😀

    Impossible to loosen that connector, so actually easier to loosen the two screws for the tank :)

      @@TeemuBT 2 screws for tank and only 4 screws for fairing, and you can access battery. I've done that recently and I'm sure. Also I installed a charging cable with fuse, for future easy top ups, without removing seat or anything and not having to insert metal pins...

    Alternatively I have an Optimate Battery Tender which has a lead that connects to the battery terminals under the tank and comes out by the headstock.
    Whenever the bike is parked in my shed, it's connected up to the Optimate which monitors the battery level and tops it up if necessary.
    (I can also plug my Sat Nav charging cradle into the lead when I'm riding 🙂 )

    • @TeemuBT
      @TeemuBT  Год назад +1

      Yeah, you right, but someone have to put those wires first..😉
      Ps.And very very often there is a fuse missing between the + wire.. 🙂

    • @rockwell666
      @rockwell666 Год назад +1

      @@TeemuBT It's literally a five minute job. And the Optimate lead has a built in fuse.
      Once it's in place, it's sorted and you don't need to worry about the battery for about five years
      Your choice.

    • @TeemuBT
      @TeemuBT  Год назад +3

      I would love to see that done in 5min (I think we both know that, that is not done in 5min😉), but you should do a video to educate how this is done..😃
      I have 130-150 bikes in winter storage, and quite many of those are FZ6, so not going to intall any extra on those..
      Points for the fuse.. 👌🙂

      @@TeemuBT Why should it take more than five minutes?
      Personally I have taken off the fairing inners on my FZ6 because they are entirely cosmetic and serve no useful purpose (they just get in the way any time I want to do any work on my bike!), but even with them in place it's very simple:
      1) Lift the seat
      2) Undo the bolts at front of the tank and then the bolt at the rear
      3) Slide the tank back and lift it so the "lugs" for the bolts at the front are above the fairing inners and slide it forward again, then push the bolt at the rear of the tank loosely back into place
      4) Prop the front of the tank up
      5) Undo the negative connection on the battery, then the positive
      6) Secure the positive side of the Optimate lead in place
      7) Secure the negative side of the lead in place
      8) Do 4, 3, 2 and 1 from above in reverse order
      Sorted.

      Yeah, internet 5min, the real life time is different.. I think others can count the job time from your do-list..

      Hi.. Good question.. Pin is like here, from this kind of connector: powerwerx.com/oemt-power-connector-radio-side
      And black clamper goes somewhere on ground/frame, I put it on gear selector shaft.. :)

    • @TeemuBT

      If the barrery was totally out of power and you ride only short distances, then it might be a good idea to fully change it..
      But if it now starts and you ride long distances, then bike will charge the battery by it self, assuming that bikes charging works properly.. 🙂
