It can work out sometimes with two snipers. I remember dps player picked an widow while i went Ana. we perched up in good sniping spots while she got enemy players down or out. I follow up the shots to make sure kill confirmed or heal the rest of the team while they went in to brawl basically. good thing was if widow got low or someone snuck up on us. i could handle that with either a sleep dark or some heals.
Mine is a combo of Lucio, mercy, zen or brig where I get 0 burst heals so cant actually engage almost at all on the tanks I like to play In hindsight I should have specified rein because once a combination of those 2 walk out of spawn the "Correct play style" because be a wall, beep boop farm ult with fire strike beep boop and only actually works if the enemy team is already being diffed in some other level as it removes my own ability to have an impact on games, other than by swapping
@@FloptropicanPresident I mean specifically once I've already walked out of spawn as like reindhart, because it if that happens if I do try to do something like exchange some swings I almost immediately fall over if not just die from any person behind me, because once those 2 are picked the correct play style as a rein becomes be shield, farm ult which is the lest impactful and most boring play style possible as rein. On a different hero sure I could make brig zen work, I've actually won games with Mercy zen as zarya, but specifically on rein it means I pretty much have to swap or be extremely bored or give up any chance or being able to out play the enemy team, often meaning I have to swap. The support combos aren't necessarily bad , like in season 9 where Lucio zen saw pro play, but they can often create really boring play styles that remove me of any actual ability to do anything.

From my experience in high master and gm lobbies comps tend to be less of the 3 main archetypes and more countering tank or the most impactful member of their team. For instance if we walk out on doom instead of going full dive hero’s (lucio, Moria, tracer, echo, venture,etc) we play Ana to counter hog (dooms biggest counter) then we might add a cas to counter any ventures, tracers or any other dive hero’s that would kill Ana. The remaining players would play something to support the doom in his dives but I rarely see full dive or full brawl or full poke.
yeah seems this way in my like mid-low masters too. Ive never really worried about comp and i rarely hear anyone even talk about it outside of some leaving comment of complaining the tank or a certain player wasnt playing the comp, which is always poke mentioned because im guessing brawl and dive are probably confusing to people. Only thing people seem to know is some support comps, mercy lucio is no no and brig ana is good and to counter tank/support tank or dps. We got a hog then people want a kiri, genji we want an ana, phara and we want a mercy, they have a hog then ana, they have winston we want a brig ect ect.
ok but like, ana brig is typical dive supports, so ana is a dive support, also lucio and moira are both brawl supports, not dive supports. Also, orisa is dooms biggest counter (in terms of tanks) not hog, definitely not hog.

That reaper example was actually awful! The reaper on a poke comp whilst not ideal for sure isn't throwing or "anti synergy". Reaper forces the opponents to save defensive cooldowns to not be destroyed in close range, meaning that the poke team has more angles to play with, or less cooldowns to deal with since they're saving them. We can't just. Think. About the game as walking in a straight line.
One heal duo I think works surprisingly well despite seeming anti synergistic is Lucio/LW. Sure one wants to play passive while Lucio enables aggression but I see it similarily to Widow/Dive. By Lucio and the team being aggressive you keep pressure off LW. Plus if your tank is too far in because of the Lucio aggression and can't get out, then LW is the perfect get out of jail free card. Plus both go great with Ball and Doom. LW has the high easy to land heals to track these mobile tanks without missing and Lucio and allows these tanks to be more aggressive. Also LW is pretty self sustained due to cooldowns but can still sometimes need peel due to lacking damage for duels. Meaning Lucio is also yet again an amazing choice to help add peeling for LW allowing him to maintain heals. Plus with LW pretty strong heal output, Lucio gets to stay on speed more often
Would really like to see a video(s) about map strategy (where to hold as a team on defense when spawn doors open on each map, etc.) Thanks for this vid you da man!

Just subbed. Thought I was this whole time lol I love your vids. Could you make a video one day focusing on positioning across the roles? Especially dynamic positioning and how to keep it in mind as fights often evolve from choke -> open space -> choke. I just always find myself getting obliterated thinking I was doing the right thing until I realize I was walking through open space desperately looking for cover.
So, I generally try to synergize with my team by taking up the slack where we have it. As Support, I will either Triage my team if my other Support isn't healing, or go for a utility that is able to give us breathing room (such as Nade or Suzu). On DPS, I go the role opposite my partner: if my partner can go in with the tank on the front line, I will start with Widow. If my partner goes Ashe or Cass, I will back up my tank with Pharah, Rat or Bastion. If my support is getting lit up like the 4th of July, I am going Mei or Reaper to pull the attackers off them (don't touch my doctors). With Tank, I generally try to hold a space and keep the enemy Tank busy while my DPS works on taking more space for me to control. I don't play Tank often though because it is not hard to Tank Diff Me, and I am tired of getting shit on for letting the team down. I don't plan on getting higher than Gold though. Most of my playtime is in QuickPlay so take my words with a grain of salt.
Two absolute facts I've come to understand in Overwatch. 1> When a team turns on itself by arguing about who should swap to what, their odds of winning rapidly sink to zero. The demands and arguing are the biggest indication of a losing team. 2> NO ONE knows how good/bad another player is at another character. If I'm skilled at Brig, but terrible at Mercy, asking for a Mercy is not going to help the team comp. Only the player knows if it'd help the team or not...then see point #1. If the team is good enough for composition to matter more than skill, then the players are smart enough to select optimal picks. If you have to complain about comp and blame someone's pick then you're already proven to not be skilled enough to even share that opinion. Nothing is worse than some silver match where someone just will not shut up about someone else's pick. This is why I play Mystery heroes more than anything else. The entire comp issue is just rage bait for the game.

As a low ranked ana who can't hit sleep darts, I've realized i shouldn't expect my team to turn around and defend me. moira and kiriko was meant for low ranked play.
Yea comp set up n coordinate and teamwork has gone out the windows since the change of OW1 to Ow2, since they removed the find a group option comp has turned more into Quickplay Plus
First few minutes of the video, putting brig in brawl and saying sig is exclusively poke when we have seen multiple instances of sigma being utilized in brawl comps just in Overwatch 2, that's just some crazy work.
I hate choosing my character first everybody sits at the screen and then when it's time to leave and they finaly pick their character like they say "can you swap". The team will never switch for how the supps want to play.
For real? I've seen so many games where the tanks and all dps be swapping but the supports never swap. They stay on the same Mercy, Lucio, Moria the whole game.

But down here they dont like (or dont know how to) playing with them because low heals. then they say go Ana/Kiri and get mad that I'm not good. I just stay my characters now and do my best but will change if I feel like I should, not because Timmy Tryhard doesn't know what cover is and keeps dying in the open.

I've had matches where the enemy team has double our heals [around 7-8k] and we still dominate. Also hard to believe anyone would think Lucio or zen is a bad option when discord and speed boost are such strong abilities
I’m not gonna lie, the consideration you gave widow could be applied to literally every character, you just have to change up your playstyle and you can flourish, reaper can work in a poke comp if he goes on flanks and looks for picks and wraiths out, zens discord is still a powerful tool in brawl
On my main account at best im around low to mid plat on all roles. I made a smurf just to have some fun and played in bronze lobbies. All I can say is my god...comps arent even the baseline issue. Positioning, awarenesss, and basic technical skills like aim were all huge issues As of the moment, im chilling in gold lobbies and I gotta say that once again comps isnt an issue rather basic strategic plays. And whats worse is the toxicity from these players that again, are at best high silver to low gold. Now im not saying im an expert in any sense. But when I hear the complaints people in gold lobbies dish out, it makes me realize why these people are stuck in the ranks they are
I'm plat as well and made an alt to learn heros I'm bad with. It's wild how toxic low ranks can get, and have no idea how much they're actively hurting their team and are just flaming each other lol.
I’m sorry, but I’m clicking off after hearing “Mauga can play in both brawl and poke” Mauga has never once been played in pro play as a poke tank, everything is based off his engagement with cardiac which strongly favors close quarters
It's usually just stubborn players who don't adapt to their teammates or other teams squad and just play the same character the whole game as you get bent over. Honestly drives me crazy not sure why you play the same character and get beat up all game and never think to switch. Even when I'm trying a new character if I'm sucking I'll change after 1-2 minutes of game play so we can still get a W.
Most of this is pretty good advice and or information about comps and synergy, the statement classifying sigma as strictly poke is misleading, he is generally like but he has good brawl capabilities though he may not take ones well against generally brawl tanks, he can be ran with other brawl heroes. Even into other brawl comps, especially junker queen comps. Though appealing him as a strictly poke tank to learning players or new players might be a good idea so they don’t run sigma into a full brawl comp and blame their team cause they saw a single video saying he is viable in the correct context of brawl
Honestly it’s time to talk about Mercy Lucio and how it isn’t a bad healer comp. This misconception has been happening for years because they want to make Mercy an off healer. You want damage boosts yes, if you need damage boost after 1 enemy kill your team didn’t deserve to win in the first place. If your teammates can’t survive for the amount of time a pocketed DPS to get a kill, then it truly is a skill issue. Much in the same vain, Lucio’s speed boost is nice if you’re his teammate, but the survivability of the heal aura is enough to sustain for a kill until Mercy switches back to heals. His speed boost can be used to help you, but he could use it exclusively for himself and get just as much value.
Junk and Widow is a weirdly good pairing, I’ve realized? the inevitable sombra switch gets caught in his traps and has bombs thrown in her face, Tracer’s too. and Widow can pretty easily deal with pharah for him
As a widow main, people say ALL the time that I'm throwing cause I have low damage despite being the person that typically starts a team fight with a kill
You can mostly just tell by guessing based on their abilities. Some characters also work in different comps because they can enable characters in them, which is why Ana, a character with no movement at all, is really good in dive comps
This is what I’m talking about, idk how overwatch was ever successful when it was built around a comp mindset, a game made like that is always going to fail
There's no fun in overwatch anymore, it's all about counter picks and stupid compositions, you just can't play with the character you want, you can't have fun.
Sigma has definitely been brawl before and showing Brig as a brawl healer in the intro makes me question everything you say when she is definitely better in the other 2 comps.
Synergies are mostly meaningless if the people playing those heroes aren't very good at those specific heroes. Most players don't pump 10k hours to play the entire roster. Most people have a significant number of hours on one or two heroes per role and are better served trying to play those heroes as best as possible rather than forcing all these synergies.
You’ve gotta understand all tanks are close range threats yes some can poke but they r most lethal up close and personal you say sigma is only good a poke but he actually has the shortest range in the game if you think about it
This is really good information. However I find none of this matters before diamond. If you are plat or lower it simply means you are not good. Improving your skills will be MUCH more useful than learning all this. I am really confident when saying this because I am a diamond Moira one trick and I literally know nothing but “grinding stats” to get to diamond. And even in diamond you will come across some literal DOG SHXT players that are also diamond. They just keep dying, low stats, however hard you tried to help them. Thus I can only imagine plat being even worse…
Lowkey i wanna have someonebdo an experiment if they do bring 6v6 back i wanna see a 222 stack of like example 2 poke tanks 2 dive dps and 2 brawl supports just to see how chaotic that synergy is

As mid silver Healer, my fav comp is 2 snipers who can't aim to save it's life AND then blame it on the heals, that's my jam!

I think she fits in brawl and dive but I’m not 100% sure. She is very good at sneaking up on a support like Ana and picking them off though

I’d say mei and bastion is a crazy good combo, wait till turret form is ready, then walk of a pick or 2, I do it with my bastion main buddy and it works hella easy
As a low ranked ana who can't hit sleep darts, I've realized i shouldn't expect my team to turn around and defend me. moira and kiriko was meant for low ranked play.

First few minutes of the video, putting brig in brawl and saying sig is exclusively poke when we have seen multiple instances of sigma being utilized in brawl comps just in Overwatch 2, that's just some crazy work.

I hate choosing my character first everybody sits at the screen and then when it's time to leave and they finaly pick their character like they say "can you swap". The team will never switch for how the supps want to play.
For real? I've seen so many games where the tanks and all dps be swapping but the supports never swap. They stay on the same Mercy, Lucio, Moria the whole game.
@@tyrenace6597 I'm down in plat trying to hit diamond. I always pick lucy or zen to start becuse they are my picks. But down here they dont like (or dont know how to) playing with them because low heals. then they say go Ana/Kiri and get mad that I'm not good. I just stay my characters now and do my best but will change if I feel like I should, not because Timmy Tryhard doesn't know what cover is and keeps dying in the open.
@@TheHardstyleFoxcrazy that any Plat would think that. You figure by then they would already realize not only what cover is but that you don't even need that many heals to do good. I've had matches where the enemy team has double our heals [around 7-8k] and we still dominate. Also hard to believe anyone would think Lucio or zen is a bad option when discord and speed boost are such strong abilities
I’m not gonna lie, the consideration you gave widow could be applied to literally every character, you just have to change up your playstyle and you can flourish, reaper can work in a poke comp if he goes on flanks and looks for picks and wraiths out, zens discord is still a powerful tool in brawl
On my main account at best im around low to mid plat on all roles. I made a smurf just to have some fun and played in bronze lobbies. All I can say is my god...comps arent even the baseline issue. Positioning, awarenesss, and basic technical skills like aim were all huge issues
As of the moment, im chilling in gold lobbies and I gotta say that once again comps isnt an issue rather basic strategic plays. And whats worse is the toxicity from these players that again, are at best high silver to low gold. Now im not saying im an expert in any sense. But when I hear the complaints people in gold lobbies dish out, it makes me realize why these people are stuck in the ranks they are
I'm plat as well and made an alt to learn heros I'm bad with. It's wild how toxic low ranks can get, and have no idea how much they're actively hurting their team and are just flaming each other lol.

Mauga has never once been played in pro play as a poke tank, everything is based off his engagement with cardiac which strongly favors close quarters
It's usually just stubborn players who don't adapt to their teammates or other teams squad and just play the same character the whole game as you get bent over.
Honestly drives me crazy not sure why you play the same character and get beat up all game and never think to switch. Even when I'm trying a new character if I'm sucking I'll change after 1-2 minutes of game play so we can still get a W.
Most of this is pretty good advice and or information about comps and synergy, the statement classifying sigma as strictly poke is misleading, he is generally like but he has good brawl capabilities though he may not take ones well against generally brawl tanks, he can be ran with other brawl heroes. Even into other brawl comps, especially junker queen comps. Though appealing him as a strictly poke tank to learning players or new players might be a good idea so they don’t run sigma into a full brawl comp and blame their team cause they saw a single video saying he is viable in the correct context of brawl
Honestly it’s time to talk about Mercy Lucio and how it isn’t a bad healer comp. This misconception has been happening for years because they want to make Mercy an off healer.
You want damage boosts yes, if you need damage boost after 1 enemy kill your team didn’t deserve to win in the first place. If your teammates can’t survive for the amount of time a pocketed DPS to get a kill, then it truly is a skill issue.
Much in the same vain, Lucio’s speed boost is nice if you’re his teammate, but the survivability of the heal aura is enough to sustain for a kill until Mercy switches back to heals. His speed boost can be used to help you, but he could use it exclusively for himself and get just as much value.

Junk and Widow is a weirdly good pairing, I’ve realized? the inevitable sombra switch gets caught in his traps and has bombs thrown in her face, Tracer’s too. and Widow can pretty easily deal with pharah for him
Sigma can also brawl with the right comp, I agree he's mainly poke and his best position is in poke, but he's not jsut poke
As a widow main, people say ALL the time that I'm throwing cause I have low damage despite being the person that typically starts a team fight with a kill
When I play dps with my sister, we go what I call the “anti-Pharah” team which is junkrat and venture

You can mostly just tell by guessing based on their abilities. Some characters also work in different comps because they can enable characters in them, which is why Ana, a character with no movement at all, is really good in dive comps
The conflict is when the team isn't in Syngery who's responsibility is it to switch. DPS always want the Tank to switch lol
The responsibility is on all the players to understand how to enable each other in whatever comp they have and what they are going against.

There's no fun in overwatch anymore, it's all about counter picks and stupid compositions, you just can't play with the character you want, you can't have fun.

I use sig to brawl all the time, you just have to cycle your abilities correctly and keep pressing W.
Sigma has definitely been brawl before and showing Brig as a brawl healer in the intro makes me question everything you say when she is definitely better in the other 2 comps.

Synergies are mostly meaningless if the people playing those heroes aren't very good at those specific heroes. Most players don't pump 10k hours to play the entire roster. Most people have a significant number of hours on one or two heroes per role and are better served trying to play those heroes as best as possible rather than forcing all these synergies.

This is really good information. However I find none of this matters before diamond. If you are plat or lower it simply means you are not good. Improving your skills will be MUCH more useful than learning all this.
I am really confident when saying this because I am a diamond Moira one trick and I literally know nothing but “grinding stats” to get to diamond. And even in diamond you will come across some literal DOG SHXT players that are also diamond. They just keep dying, low stats, however hard you tried to help them. Thus I can only imagine plat being even worse…

Ana can work in all archetypes. In dive she needs a brig to protect her when the rest of the team dives and in brawl you need good positioning.

The only combo i hate to see are Hanzo and widow. Everything else works just fine, since its all an easy skill issue
