I don't get it either. Some people really hate him, however they forgive Meng for everything. Sure he lied to get Meng killed and some other stuff, but it's pretty tame compared to what Meng did. Also how Meng killed his brother was just awful and I don't blame at Nie at all for wanting him dead after that.

Never watched the drama but when I read the novel I have that gut feeling about him that he is a shady guy, he is more than what he is saying so I was not that surprised in the end. I have doubt about why the gay boy summon wwx just for that little revenge and where did he get all that information and why the revenge end so fast? And my doubt was clear when it show that the dead body was his brother.

Or like the book describes him: "his shoulders are broad and his waist is narrow". I like Wang YiZhou, but I just don't think his appearance in the drama matches MingJue's.
I like how looking back Nie's fan wasn't just for the ✨Drama✨ of it all but was also good foreshadowing to him being someone that works behind the scenes given the "hidden" nature of the fan
nie huaisang is my favorite character from the drama and the other adaptations, I love how smart he is, being able to fool the fool. i am very similar so maybe that's why I like him too. just the way his character was written was perfect.
I love Nie Huaisang. Not only did he bring my boy Wei Wuxian back but he also exposed all of Jin Guangyao's crimes (tho he did manipulate Mo Xuanyu🤔 but Mo Xuanyu also got his revenge so i guess it balances out) he used Wei Wuxian bc he knew he wasn't smart enough or strong enough. This is a case where the more deeper you dive, the more you are able to uncover. However, Huaisang cannot do it alone and he can only trust Wei Wuxian judgement since Wuxian able to investigate and uncover things further (he's a genius and able to place dots faster as long as it is not a relationship). This also because Wei Wuxian is the creator of the heretic path(not in the drama) therefore he understood resentment energy more. This is agreed by Xue Yang. Also since Wei Wuxian is the drive, Lan Wangji also be taken into the ride. Since Lan Wangji avoid politics and does not concern himself of the ongoing of sect. Since Wei Wuxian is already dead, he planned to resurrect him. This is where he left notes intentionally (it can be said that JGY is also have some hands on this since the Jin clan took a lot of Wei Wuxian note during the 1st burial siege).

Watch "Fatal Journey and you will understand the level of their relationship. If you have only watched the series, you might think he is too overly determined. Anyways, Nie Huaisang can’t fight so what else could he have done. He cannot get the revenge himself and- (this is my opinion), one thing that was kind of unreasonable was when Wei Wuxian and everyone else acted so cold to him as if he was a bad guy. Without him, Jin Guang Yao would probably have killed so many more people. It’s not like he had any intention to hurt anyone either. Plus just like Wei Wuxian wanted to get revenge for Jiang Sect and later massacred the Wen Sect that day, Nie Huaisang wanted it to for Jin Guang Yao. May I remind you that most of those hundreds of disciples Wei Ying killed all in different, disgusting ways were just doing their job and born into the wrong sect? Nie Huaisang may have used everyone as chess pieces but you can tell how carefully he planned everything out that he never intended to get anyone hurt. He even gave Wei Wuxian back to Lan Wangji haha. It’s not like he could’ve killed Jin Guangyao himself he has no cultivation, either. Anyways like Wei Wuxian had said to Lan Zhan that night, it has direct blood contact with his clan, of course, he would have to take revenge and others don't have any say in it. Not saying what he did was right to everyone, but I had thought Wei Wuxian would at least understand. Another thing, many people blame him for Lan Xichen's condition but I don't think he's the problem at all. Though I love Xichen, he was too blind to see through everything. He cared so much for a person that killed so many people and like he said, HE KNEW, but stood by. Besides, Nie Huaisang, who was in action, he was the only one aware to some degree. I guess it's only destined that he kills him to clean himself. (Don’t get me wrong, Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen suffered a lot and are good people. Watch "Fatal Journey and you will understand the level of their relationship. If you have only watched the series, you might think he is too overly determined. Anyways, Nie Huaisang can’t fight so what else could he have done. He cannot get the revenge himself and- (this is my opinion), one thing that was kind of unreasonable was when Wei Wuxian and everyone else acted so cold to him as if he was a bad guy. Without him, Jin Guang Yao would probably have killed so many more people. It’s not like he had any intention to hurt anyone either. Plus just like Wei Wuxian wanted to get revenge for Jiang Sect and later massacred the Wen Sect that day, Nie Huaisang wanted it to for Jin Guang Yao. May I remind you that most of those hundreds of disciples Wei Ying killed all in different, disgusting ways were just doing their job and born into the wrong sect? Nie Huaisang may have used everyone as chess pieces but you can tell how carefully he planned everything out that he never intended to get anyone hurt. He even gave Wei Wuxian back to Lan Wangji haha. It’s not like he could’ve killed Jin Guangyao himself he has no cultivation, either. Anyways like Wei Wuxian had said to Lan Zhan that night, it has direct blood contact with his clan, of course, he would have to take revenge and others don't have any say in it. Not saying what he did was right to everyone, but I had thought Wei Wuxian would at least understand.
Another thing, many people blame him for Lan Xichen's condition but I don't think he's the problem at all. Though I love Xichen, he was too blind to see through everything. He cared so much for a person that killed so many people and like he said, HE KNEW, but stood by. Besides, Nie Huaisang, who was in action, he was the only one aware to some degree. I guess it's only destined that he kills him to clean himself.
(Don’t get me wrong, Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen suffered a lot and are good people. I’m not blaming any of them for anything but I just thought the ending and controversies are a bit unfair for Nie Huaisang.)

Fun fact - when I finished read the novel, I didn't like Nie Huaisang (because my poor baby Xichen...), then I saw the Untamed and OMG I love this guy - watching him was so amazing and funny (and kind of sad too). Actor who's play Nie Huaisang is greate.

Okay I’m genuinely curious. Why do people hate Nie Huaisang? I haven’t read MDZS (yet) have only seen The Untamed. He literally became one of my favorite characters and being he did what he did, which I wasn’t surprised (just that he used LXC do the deed). An eye for eye after all.
