In fact one of the well known figures in the Bible insisted he be crucified upside down because he didn’t think he was wordy to executed in the same way as Jesus. I don’t think that any of this crap should be allowed in any school public or private. I do not care about parent’s wishes at all when it comes to this. I went to a private school in rural Mississippi for a while growing up and they didn’t just not teach evolution, they actually forced up to use a sharpie to mark out any mention of it or anything related to it in our textbooks so we wouldn’t be able to read about it at all. They would never speak on anything involving the actual age of the planet. They sure hell wouldn’t cover anything about the Big Bang or anything like that. We were also taught that climate change wasn’t real and that slavery was not the reason for the civil war instead they said it was over “state’s rights” 🙄 We had mandatory Bible lessons and assignments on it. We also weren’t allowed to draw peace signs or have them on anything in class because they thought it was a satanic symbol because it sorta looks like an upside down cross in a circle if you squint hard. Nevermind that the upside down cross isn’t even evil according to biblical text. In fact one of the well known figures in the Bible insisted he be crucified upside down because he didn’t think he was wordy to executed in the same way as Jesus. I don’t think that any of this crap should be allowed in any school public or private. I do not care about parent’s wishes at all when it comes to this. I am so sick of parents that think it’s their right to be able to treat their kids like possessions rather than individuals who are capable of having their own thoughts and beliefs. It’s one thing to want to teach your kid about the religion that it’s important to you. It’s a whole different thing to force it on them. Outside sources sure as hell shouldn’t be allowed to indoctrinate kids either. Even in the public schools in the less rural parts of the state I attended still spoke openly about religion and right wing talking points and promoted propaganda. My history teacher made us say whether we were democrat or republican and me, the other lgbtq kid, and the one black girl in my class were the only ones who said we were and he ridiculed and degraded us in front of the whole class for it. Hell I even got called to the principal office and got accused of engaging in witchcraft. I didn’t actually end up in trouble because I think the principal realized how stupid he sounded after saying the accusations out loud. I was also harassed and bullied constantly by students and faculty for being bisexual. It’s always so ironic how hypocritical conservatives usually are.

On climate change. It's really annoying that everyone seems to be misinterpreting what mainstream conservatives say. They don't, "Not believe in climate change." They don't even deny that, "Climate change is a big deal." Their stance is (usually), that climate change is a problem, but there's a bunch of problems in the world. And climate change isn't the biggest problem currently, right this instant.
Personally, my main gripe with climate change activists, is that they're willing exaggerate truth with weird tactics, or make shitty arguments pulling at people's heart-strings. Two easy examples for me:
- They always blow up the charts, to make them look as unreasonable as possible. I'm not a climate expert. So you need to explain, in words, why 1 degree is such a big deal. But instead, they just show +1 degree as a solid blue line, and then +2 degrees as the reddest, redder than the devil's dick, super scary red line, with lightning bolts coming out of it. It's an annoying tactic. Facts can speak for themselves. You don't need to scare people with gimmicks.
- They don't harp on the economic impacts of climate change enough. By far, the strongest argument, especially to a conservative, is going to be the fact that building walls/raising terrain is either extremely expensive, or not feasible. And that trillions of dollars of real-estate will be virtually unusable garbage, that's underwater. Or that minimally, there will be significantly more flood insurance required for people to purchase. But instead of those reasonable arguments, you get, "The earth is getting DIRTY, and polar bears are all going to DIE! Don't you care about the animals???" - No. I don't care about the animals. If every single polar bear dies, I won't care.
It's not a misinterpretation popular conservatives like Steven Crowder have spread misinformation regarding climate change and denying that there is any impacts using the very thing you mentioned about taking graphs but deliberately cherry picking sections. Potholer54 and HbomberGuy have done good videos going over a lot of the misinformation people spread but denying that co2 has any impact on the climate is not a niche belief. Just look up the polls.
