Great talk Juan! IPFS is the new Internet, thousands of websites running on it already. C-IPFS will soon be pre-installed on everything from cars to tv's. Imagine downloading a 4K movie in just a few seconds.. cool stuff :)
instantly broke out in tears... (can anybody relate to that?) and it remains a mystery to me that the most powerful ideas that are about to lead to the biggest advancements for humanity due to their universality and key position for solving actual problems... are not covered or misunderstood by mass media... A quickly done google research seems to confirm this for content in german language.. I would have expected more idealism and enthusiasm from journalists.. and less ignorance.. or am I getting this wrong?
Now wait...can someone explain to me: I make a webpage. I decide to delete the webpage. Other people can then distribute my webpage? What if I don't want to distribute it anymore?
An object is not necessarily stored locally when accessed from a decentralized network, it can simply be reassembled and diplayed in your browser with only the information available online. Then, thanks to the content adressing explained in the video, you can simply send a "burn" call to delete the file from all the various machines connected to that particular network and your wepbage will be gone off the web. Still, if someone copied your wepabge on his usb key, he would be able to access it offline. And that could be problematic, but it's a problem that currently exists and IPFS does not make it worse. For example, if you own a book for a given time, let's say 1 month, you could rewrite the book manually and own your copy of it forever, independently of the library which leased it to you. And it would not be the fault of whatever entity provided you the book, only yours ;)
Why not use both? I can still see the use case of just having a pointer to a location if you want to have the latest updated version of something. Maybe we should just note in some meta data that it has been updated and still keep the hash of the older version.
Great talk -- if you prioritize thesis ideas, framing, and powerful solutions over delivery style and other trivialities. Bad talk if you think style is paramount. Open your brain.
Which came first--block chain or ISP's idea to repeal Net Neutrality? The chicken or the egg? Can't help but think that companies like Verizon saw how block chains like Bitcoin is going to eat their lunch one day, and they decided to cash in by repealing net neutrality. Good for them. They can also buy TV and AM Stations. We are getting web.2 and use crypto currency instead of Visa. That's why crypto is growing like crazy. Nobody can stop it--not the ISP's, not the banks, not the governments. INVEST!
My question is this. To decentralize would I have to have my own gigabyte transfer node in my home/apartment? Then be directly attached to all apartments in my range? If so who covers expenses? Are you trying to say I don't need the isp?? Because they are the first stop for my info right? Then on toward the next. It's like this because of how it's set up. Now in your scenario of benefitting third world farmer do you expect him toget pissed at his broke as country or isp? Or do you expect him to know what he needs to fix it? Would he need to takes line have money the needed for repeaters etc. or do you expect isps to Osborn the cost of implementing such an endeavor without raising cost of service? Hey just to let you know I'm just scratching the surface here. Yes this idea works great in an corporate office but requires no computer to turn off Dothan info isn't temporarily lost right. I have no clue why it has come down to this but if we end up valuing non existent numbers become more important than a real bill or anything that is actually existing, even if is decentralized, it will eventually collapse or create a route where humans wont value anything else than just technology but not in a good level or as a tool but rather as a reality, we used technology and internet to make things easier to take the best of our calculations as humans to make tasks easier and to save time but now is as if we are the ones working for the internet , im afraid the future generations will grow up in a world that exist based on codes or numbers, that we become just a number or ID inside a network that we created to work for us, we are just acting as slaves towards something that at the end of the day doesnt exist...
