    Awesome interview. Nice work Elmo. Jam and Lewis have done many interviews over the years, but this interview was one of the best, it was intimate, there was no hollywood, it was like a living documentary infront of your eyes. It was personable and personal dialogue. Perhaps the best look into the history, their magic, their tools and their ambition. Excellent excellent content. Again, AWESOME work, Elmo.

    SCREAM is fire 🔥, I play Michael's music everyday and SCREAM is definitely in the lineup❤. It's such a bummer that they didn't get to perform that song live, so I'm so glad that Janet makes sure to put that song in her performances😌❤!!!!

    • @3ver4fter53
      @3ver4fter53 10 месяцев назад

      They did not even perform it together in the studio. They've never been close. Even during the shooting of the video they had their own team and they never spent time together. Michael and Janet had a business relationship. They didn't know each other.

    • @melanindollface3666
      @melanindollface3666 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@3ver4fter53 They were together the first time at the studio, Michael laid his vocals down first, but Janet didn't wanna go after Michael lol, so she decided to do her vocals at a different studio.
      I really hate the way they management teams did them on the set if the short film shoot😕. Idkw kind of sick ass idea they management had trying to put them up against each other bc the gag is, no one was falling for that 🤦🏽. Simple fact being, they are brother and sister and they are both 🔥 at what they do, so no one is gonna say that one is better then other🤷🏾.
      I just don't understand why they didn't have the biggest voice for their project, bc I would've let it be known that, this isn't a competition and it will not be treated as such❤️.
      I'm sure it had alot to do with their contracts and etc, bc family or not, it's still business, but something would have to give in this situation 💪🏾.
      The fact that Michael was and still is the most popular person to man, he didn't really get to have a relationship with no one in his family frfr, he was always gone😬. At some point, I believe he was kept away from his family on purpose 😔, but at the end of the day, they all knew what kind of love they had for each other and that's all that matters ☺️.

    • @3ver4fter53
      @3ver4fter53 10 месяцев назад

      @@melanindollface3666 Their relationships had become strictly business and public image for a loooong time and they are the ones to blame. The Jacksons didn't know Michael anymore. They supported him when he was accused because he was a Jackson. But they did not have a clue if he was innocent. Michael, Janet and all the family have been raised in a fake business universe since they were children. They became fake people themselves.

    I came of musical age right as the Minneapolis Sound exploded. Along with that genre and local alternative acts, I was lucky enough to see all these bands/artists play at 1st Avenue in the 80's: Prince &TR, The Time, Soul Asylum, The Replacements, Sheila E, The Suburbs, Tina & The B-Sides, Babes in Toyland, Husker Du, The Suicide Commandos, Curtiss A, The Wallets, The Flaming Oh's and on and on. I can't even make it all the way through this without stopping to comment. Can ANYONE possibly fathom being in a family with THOSE two and not feeling like chopped liver? 😄😃 I mean OMG no matter what you do, it's still going to be compared to this dual tsunami talent. Like why bother? Lol - I'd have to give up music entirely and go be a mathematician or something cause these two - Janet and Michael - have it all on LOCK. God bless Tito, Jermaine, et al. Sorry boys. And Janet is just ASTOUNDING to have been able to carve her own musical lane after growing up watching Michael. That takes SERIOUS cajones.

      And that’s the biggest part that people tend to forget; so many people like to say she road the coattails of Mike’s success and nothing could be further from the truth. To be able to be a superstar in her own right when your brother is the King of Pop, makes her a badass Queen of Pop! And she’s broken many of his records; and she still holds the record for most consecutive top 10 hits and RN is the only album to have 7 top 5 hits. When people would say these things about JJ, I’d say how come Latoya’s music career wasn’t as successful or Jackie’s. Jermaine is talented as well and had modest success.

    No one is spending that kind of money for videos unless it's MJ and short films, and there's no more innovation or pushing the limits, now that he has passed

    Work ethic and groove...are what you've learned. Janet Jackson owes Prince a debt of gratitude. Her whole 1st album are Prince riffs.

      @mansa1325 Control wasn't janet's frist album it's her third album. shes always giving prince his credit (more so during that time period and sometimes even now when asked.)and talked about at one time being a fan of him and the time.Also if you say janet owns him credit you would have to say all the artist jam and lewis worked with.All Jam and Lewis did was put what they learned from prince and helped create with prince and the time together and made their own sound.

    For yeeaaaarrss I liked to know how they make the intro bass of scream … but I guess I am the only one about that bass that blew me away on the history tour and never had that experience again … and heard - that kind of bass again

      @@gowithelmo would be awesome :)... I don't hear that kind of bass anywhere else...I tell you, the next interview partner need to be Brad Buxer when it comes to producing MJ records in the 90s! with lot of AKAI MPC 3000 and EMU III....Jimmy was the genius for the record, and the bass on the history tour came from Buxer, ...that bass was live surreal af, can't believe he just shot the sample

    He wanted Terry back and not Jam. Jam immediately walked out after hearing they were fired. Terry tried to reason with him which is what Prince wanted Jam to do. He knew Jam would never ask to come back. Prince liked to control people when he was younger. Trying to protect the Minneapolis sound sounds thin to me. Musicians can duplicate should they incline to do so. There is nothing new under the Sun. The sound was unique and has stood the test of time for that era.
