I was gifted a bottle of Glen Moray 12 by a "non-whisky" friend a couple of years ago. I was less than excited at the time, only to discover that there was nothing bad about it. The most interesting whisky in the world? Of course not. But a delightful sipper to share with friends who may not be as into whisky as I am? Indeed. The bottle did not last long at all. It's important we give these types of bottles a fair shake and enjoy them for what they are. Thanks, Jim!
@0:20 Eh…. You post on YT whisk(e)y reviews… That is considered a serie (of reviews) 😉 Just saying 🤓😂 I had ones a GM from an independent company on a high strength…. That was quite a positive surprise
Just too expensive in Canada for what this is as a scotch. $120 Canadian with taxes is too high. I have had this scotch. It’s not worth $120! Cheers! Great video Jim!
I've a soft spot for GM Jim, as it's where I kick-started my own whisky journey (it being a sherry cask finish on that occasion). It is what it is; a pleasant, easy going Speysider that won't offend anyone - the sort of bottle you can dive into when you don't want to think too much about what's in the glass. Just consider how much better things could be if it was an integrity presentation though? Slainte mhath 👍🙂🥃.
The NAS Elgin Classic has featured a few times in my collection for sub £20 and used as a guard whisky and always been enjoyed for what it is so maybe I'll have to upgrade it to the 12 in future. Thanks for your thoughts on this one
Hi Jim, glad you were honest about this malt. As you say it’s an easy sipper and there’s nothing bad about it. Mind you for around £40 is a bit pricey especially when I can get this for around ( if I want too)€25. Slàinte Jim 🥃
Wow this basic scotch isn’t that cheap in Canada! Damn we pay a lot more. 💯 Canadian before taxes so about $120. That’s a lot. I can get a good scotch for this price - better than this expression.
agreed. glenfiddich along with balveine, having the same owner and located next to each other, the malt note is funky, musty, weird, and not in a good way.
@1:57 "This season, this series will start with some simple whiskies" .... nailed it ! Too thin, much better alternatives, far more interesting ones out there for similar dollars. Sorry Jim, it's just not for me.

Glad we're in agreement Jerry. Sometimes, simple, inoffensive but decent is enough in my opinion. Cheers my friend.

Thanks for reviewing, Jim.
Decent dram, certainly given the price (but that is in NL).
Slàinte mhath

So you would take glenmorangie 10 over moray 12?

Glen Moray 12, Glenmorangie 10, both knock the pants of Glenfiddich 12 *starts a flamewar*

It has a good price, so it should be an easy sipper. Thanks for review 🤠
Ive tried this a couple of times. As well as a couple of their other expressions, like port cask, sherry cask. Not bad. Pretty cheap here, $65AUD.
Soft spot for Glenmo..... but that label is a car crash............wow.
