i used to ride these to high school in the early 90's.. loved the smell of the brakes lol.. but even younger as a kid in the 80's I used to live by the tracks in Munno Para S.A and i used to make 1s and 2 cent pieces into flat ribbons etc by putting them on the track. I'd have to put on 4 or 5 and be lucky to be able to find and get 2 or 3 back, then i had to pick the three corner jacks out of my shoes on the way back home.. I have kids now and i would never let them do that lol.... the sound of them coming into the station is nostalgic the heavy clunks and the squeeks and the sound of the engine in idol
The red hens were the best...remember coming home from the footy in the 70's wearing ripples & a duffle coat, sitting by the door which was wide open...having smokes and chatting up chicks!
Still learning how to sound a SAR " long short long" here boys. Keep practicing, it's not that hard. Got it right a couple of times. The ghost of Webb is still listening. Just a wonderful railway all the same.

I hated it, they were noisy, cold, and uncomfortable, Ill always hoped ill be riding home in a Jumbo, and they weren't so frequent in the late 80s.
Mmm detroit diesel goodness
I Love riding the Red Hens.
Same here, wish I could do a mainline run on them

Kanes trans is red hen still at Mount barker depot?
how about the jumbos i heard they are going to transfer to Mount barker as well
most likely isn't enough space to store them at Mount Barker
i never new there was more than 2 i thougt it was 2 yellow ones never see the one with it red at the front
Do they ever run the 2000 class trains
Not as of yet mate! Main focus is getting their diesel fleet in action and the line up to scratch
@@KanesTrains it’s been years then they last run services on passenger line you think they would of run them
@@justinappleton3801 it’s all about public interest and necessity - took a while for the reds to become popular
