This is why I miss regional rap. So many different styles back in the day.
Yes. Each place had their own style and hip hop had much more parody. Great times.
It was bound to get mixed up over time tho with technology.... even with fashion. UK dresses exactly like NYC. It was never like that before... go to any city and everyone wears nike techs...everyone says opps... everyone talks like Chicago and dresses like NewYork
Yep.. Its a generational thing ,,everyone look and sound the same
Regional Hip Hop never died. It's there, but the commercial Rap & [T]Rap music is in the way of everything; especially the common sense of women.
@Tuelz... Go sit down, fella. we don't dress like NYC. When u jokers were still wearing baggies, we were in fitted clothes. London has always been too fashionable to copy NYC. The only Yankee baggies we cared about was Karl Kani back in the day. And that was mostly yardies that wore that shit and a few B-boys
When Ed is on you stop whatever you're doing and tune in like it's the 90s each and every time... Straight kicking facts... Best interview yet hands down
Definitely up there with MEO's very best. Great stuff and well said. Top comment.
Was he kicking facts when he talked about the 90's and didn't mention Pac? Even mentioned Jay Z who was irrelevant at that time compared to Pac. He's a hater.

Ed Lover The National Treasure
@@5hadœwbånnedbyyou Ed Hater the National hater.
Love this.
Real hip hop.
No beefs, bullshit.
Just stories from the golden era.
Being around 50 has its advantages :)
Ed is right up there at the top of hip-hop historians and storytellers! C'mon son. I can listen to Ed all damn year and never get tired of him. Dude is real-live walking Hip Hop History! This is your best interview pull Math! AMAZING, bro.
I'm from the Dirtiest South and I agree! WU Tang changed my perspective. GZAs album Liquid Swords was so deep it took me 2 years to catch on
In memory of ODB and for Math HOFFA and crew bringing the pain and best guests from around the US!
ODB..... my blood cuz.... shout out from his family from the D... rest up cuz
THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT!! WE APPRECIATE YOU!!! WE GOT MORE GREAT CONTENT ON THE WAY..STAY TUNED!!!
Nobody can argue about Wu. They made so much great music.
I'm with Ed Lover on that. "Enter The Wu-Tang 36 Chambers" changed my life at age 13. I'm about to be 44 and looking back I've bought that album on cassette, CD, and wax so many times it's ridiculous! RZA, GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard (R.I.P), Method Man, Rae & Ghost, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, U-God, and Cappadona are THE GREATEST HIP-HOP GROUP OF ALL TIME, point blank period!!! 👐 *u*
THAT PART! I had just moved to South Jersey at the age of 12 from southern California. I was on the whole Tupac/public enemy political tip at the time and then...IT HAPPENED: wu tang, biggie and Nas all dropped in about a 10 month span and that was it. Absolutely love Biggie, but Wu Tang is everything.
@@alvinburrisiii4382 👍🏾 Yes Indeed!
Big Fn Facts just yesterday i was having this conversation w a friend who had this album when were n junior high school i learned how to dress by watching Ghost and Rae true shit they were more than music it was a movement
@@garymagr81 Absolutely!
Great album! But nothing or no group will ever be greater than NWA
I agree with the Wu-Tang take. It was a miracle to keep all those egos in tact for as long as it was
I disagree the wu is great! This is my personal opinion greatest rap group is the L.O.X
Hit for hit I don’t think they fucking with outkast.
Love Da Wu, bcuz they collectively embodied NY. Got'em #3 all-time. OutKast is #2. Geto Boyz are #1. All-time.
@@babymacintoshhit as in commercial pop chart success?? 🤣🤣 5 years ago OutKast better than the WU was blasphemy....the surge in putting southern rap on a pedestal has led to this shit. Wu-Tang is world wide!
@@byronfloyd1658🤣🤣🤣🤣 but when N.Y. loves and supports their own and places them in their top lists it's N.Y. bias, but other regions do it and it's showing love and support...🤣🤣
I agree about the Wu. They are basically a supergroup. We will never see a run like theirs again in hip hop. In addition their swords are still sharp today.
Ed Lover is now a walking, talking Hip Hop encyclopedia. His stories are essential. Thank you.
Agreed WU tang is the greatest group. Hands down. They introduced lingos that others started to use in their lines. They creatively brought so much to the table. Glad Ed OG made that statement loud and clear. Read the label and say it loud. Hoffa respect your hustle I’ve seen you grow and blessings to your success bro. Keep em’ coming. Peace
Man I could listen Ed talk about the Golden ERA all day, I know he got a treasure trove of stories he could tell #Hiphop
Great interview!! Ed Lover is a legend & an archive of Hip-hop history. Much honor and respect to the elders of the culture passing on the history and wisdom.
That Wu Tang Clan changed the game and shook the industry by storm 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Dope as a Crew & Dope individually!!! It’s similar to what New Edition did to R&B 💯
Love listening to Ed lover, he brings back the golden era 90’s and always it brings back nostalgia. He embodies the 90’s era.
He’s spot on about Supreme Clientele. That’s an absolute classic
That album so 🔥🔥🔥!!!
My favorite interview to date. Ed Lover & Dr. Dre played an important role in bringing hip hop to the masses. Big up! 👊🏿
Ed Lover is a treasure, the hip hop storytelling is 🔥
I’ve been watching your interviews for about a year and you’ve had some gem moments but these Ed Lover interviews are the best I’ve seen since I’ve been watching. Not a weak moment in any of them. This is your show at its prime. A uniquely skilled and knowledgeable interviewer interviewing a knowledgeable articulate subject. I’m proud of you my brother.🙏🏿
The Rza revived Kung Fu flics and added a new element to sampling (movies). Ghost single handedly revived Clarks shoe company. Wu Tang wasn't a group they were a Movement.
Yea in New York.

Ed is a national treasure
I’ve traveled to many places in the world, no matter the country you will ALWAYS see a WU-Tang T-Shirt or tattoo on someone.
WU-Tang Clan rocks the world and is definitely the best rap group of all time!

I was in the middle of no where NC and I saw a spray painted Wu-Tang logo on the back of a dump truck. That's when I knew Wu is everywhere. I'm a semi-truck driver. I see that logo everywhere.

This took e down memory lane. Wu Tang blew me away and still do. It was on Ed Lovers show that I decided ODB was my favourite rapper of all time. He was freestyling till Ed Lover had to physically stop him. Alive would be Ghostface and my favourite no 1 hip hop album(can’t choose either after all these decades) The Firm and Liquid Swords…….
This one of the only shows I can see all the clips and still watch the whole episode when it’s released. Keep it coming(pause) Math🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is probably the best interview you have done Math, I mean damn!!
Been listening to Criminal Minded since it came out and not once put that “Kings lose crowns!” line to Run Dmc. I gotta go back and re-re listen! 😂😂
Thank You Ed. Ghost is my favorite. I been arguing this for years.
Ed respect all the way my dude appreciate you coming through. Math Mecca and team dope as always.
Yo this has to be the best guest ever, maybe it’s just cause I’m an old head from NJ, but I’m catching flashbacks backs to the late 80s early 90s just listen to him. There isn’t any young cats that embodies Hip Hop like Ed Lover. I’m not saying no young guys have the knowledge or lives the culture, but Ed lived the history, the culture and maintains the knowledge. I get goosebumps just listening to him talk.
This is was pure hip hop!!!!!!!
Real love for the culture! Peace Hoffa!
I’ve been saying that every since I first heard them dudes an I’ve been listening to rap since the beginning they need to be in the ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME ASAP!!!!!!!
I still remember getting Wu-tangs promotional single from BEAT STREET records downtown Brooklyn..it was "PROTECT YA NECK " on one side and on the flip side it was "AFTER THE LAUGHTER COMES TEARS"...I brought it to my high school(Edward R. Murrow) in mid 1992 and told Dj.Jasey Jase to play it in the clubs...the 1st time he played it he said that folks wasn't feeling it...a month later Wu tang blew up on Video Music Box(thanks to Ralph Macdaniels)and he begged me to let him hold the vinyl single again....thats when I knew Wu was going to be big..Also Rza's sound was so different back then..alot of producers tried to copy that Wu-tang trademark sound at the time...from 1991 to early 1998 Wu was on top..they had a little beef w hot 97 which hurt them with airplay around 1997...
If you don’t know about the Wu Syndicate album, get on it. One of the best start to end Wu side Crew albums ever. 👍🏾🔥
Where was heaven, golden sands just to name 2. Whole album was a banger. What about the pillage album from Cap. Shit was tough too.
