Chamkaur-di-gadhi mein ye incident hua tha jab 40 sikhon ne 10 lakh ka samna kiya tha. tab sikhon ki 5-5 ki tukduan bahar ja ke 10 lakh se takrai thi aur iss liye kehte the ki har ek sikh akela 1.25 lakh se ladhta tha. aur ajj bhi sikhon ki bahaduri ki missal di jati hai. 26 th regiment was renamed as 21st Sikh regiment by britishers and to this day they are still called 21st Sikh. My uncle served in 21st Sikh regiment and he is rightfully very proud of it.

1. Son of sardar is a comedy movie and not related to this story.. Ajay Devgan and salman khan was ready to make movie on this saragarhi story but they Stopped because it is started by Akshay Kumar and one 2 daily episode.
2. Jo ring turbon k upper hoti hi...usko head protection k lye lgya jata hu ki koi swords se cut n kre head ko... guru Gobind Singh Ji ne je de hi... sikh regiment vi lgati hi...it is a part of uniform..

Basically Saragarhi was only a communication post, not a fortress. That post was used to communicate signals between the two main forts of Fort Gulistan and Fort Lokhat. These two forts were main British Indian defense in the region. And that Saragarhi post helps the forts to communicate with each other.
As the region was in dispute, with British and Afghan tribes, British wanted to have their influence in Afghanistan more deeper. But Afghans resisted as they don't wanted to be a British colony.
In order to push back Brits forever, Afghans decided to counter attack on the two main forts. But with a help of spies, they got the information that Saragarhi post is responsible for communication between both forts. So, they prepared for a quick offensive, But as British power is much greater than Afghans, so afghans need to capture both forts very quick even try to capture all three within 24 hrs.
According to their strategy, Afghan would attack Saragarhi post, which is manned by only 21 soldier, and then it would be much easier to capture the main forts as the communication would be disrupted. But British got information from their spies too, about Afghani offensives. But they didn't know for exact location of afghan attack, and brits were expecting an attack on the forts, not on the post. So for the defense of the forts, British also send reinforcement for the forts, But the main assault fell on Saragarhi. By the time they knew about the main attack would be Saragarhi, they told soldiers to retreat to one of the forts. But They chose to fight to death.
Here these 21 brave men, held afghan fighters for a whole day. They lost their lives, but Afghan lost precious time. By the time Afghan won Saragarhi, it was late evening. Many fighters were tired, and many injured and many dead. So Afghans rested there. And on the same evenings, British Forts were heavily reinforced, and reinforcement who came from long journey were tired too. So British Indian forced planned to counter attack, the next day. So next the post was secured by British Indian force and Afghans retreated from there.
Hence overall it is called a Successful British defense, from a world opinion. Indians call it as a sacrifice and martyrdom for motherland India.
Some people even say that Sikh soldiers died for the loyalty of British empire. The region is currently in Pakistan, Pakistan don't talk about it.
While it could also be said that Sikh soldiers saved some of Pakistani territory 120 yrs before, as only after partition just 50 yrs later, the same territory went to Pakistan.
