Thanks for another great review! I'm looking to get DX1 for my PC at work... I would like to use it mainly as DAC (in order to clean/enhance the USB signal), but also as IEM amp for my planar S12 Pro. Since I saw in your reviews that you own the S12s, do you think that DX1 will drive them well? Or should I go for something more expensive (and powerful) like FiiO K7? Also K7 is balanced with dual AK4493S. Compared to DX1, how big the difference would be SQ-wise? Sorry for the many questions... Thanks in advance...
Thanks very much. I have tried them with my S12 Pro and no issue at all. Not sure on the K7 sound quality but that looks more suitable for harder to drive gear.
i always love it when at the end of the review there is a comparison. 1 question, compare dx1 to dx3 pro+ which one have the wider soundstage & better imaging?
One question can i used it with my smartphone if power it through phone OTG or Extrenal power adaptor and use 3.5mm to RCA to play songs through 3.5mm jack?? bcuz i don't have laptop or PC??
I'm looking for a DAC/AMP solution for my Sennheiser HD650. Basically I listen to music with Spotify in Macmini. Is Topping DX1 a great solution? Another option in this price range? Thank you!
Hi, I would like to buy this DAC to use it via laptop, I had bought an AIYIMA A5 PRO but I returned it because I didn't hear any differences, only the audio was very loud but nothing more. I have FLAC Lossless music files to play 16 - 24 Bit up to 192 Khz. my headphones are Audio Technica ATH M40X with Topping DX1 do you get any advantages on sound quality? ... is it true that the volume is rather low? I rely on your expertise as an expert, thank you and have a nice day.
@@VortexReviews1 AIYIMA's A5 Pro sounds almost like the sound card in my laptop, I haven't noticed any big differences, there are several DACs that all have the same components and only change the name. the volume level is very powerful, I wanted to test it by setting it to the maximum and my eyes almost popped out of their sockets. they declare a power of 400 Watts, I don't know if this is actually the case but it is very close. as for the Topping DX1 do you think I would get a good sound with the Audio Technica ATX M40X ? I would need a DAC that sounds good, I don't care about raw sonic power because I would only use it with headphones. thank you bye.
@@VortexReviews1 The laptop sound card is a simple nvidia native card. however I bought the Topping DX1 it arrives tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, I hope I find it well. fingers crossed. 🤞
@@VortexReviews1 250 ohms, they're pretty beefy but I would love to be able to drive these on a small solution as appose to some sort of monster like the JDS Labs Element III.
Quick question, if I connect my speakers on the RCA output and my headphones at the same time do both outputs work simultaneously or is any of the outputs "shutdown"? Thanks!
Good question and I can't check that at the moment but I presume the RCA work with no headphones in then plug a headph9noe and it would shut the back off as there is no switch to change the outputs and this is only powered by the USB bus as well.
@@VortexReviews1 So, it just arrived. I'm by no means an audiophile but I'm liking it so far with my speakers (PreSonus Eris 4.5). I had an Audioquest Dragonfly before and didn't notice that much of a difference, but I didn't do much side-by-side testing. Still waiting for both a replacement cable for my Etymotics ER4S and an ATH-R70X to properly test with headphones. Regarding my question, the RCA output is never shutdown, even when a headphone is connected. Also the volume control doesn't control the RCA output, only headphone. For me that's perfectly fine as I have controls on my speakers. So far really enjoying my purchase and really looking forward to test it further.
@@tspvc Thanks for the information and glad you like them and surprised they are outputting all the time from the front and rear RCA and they do state it's Line Out only and not a Pre out.
Thank you for including the setup process and the cable length!!
Happy to help.

Cheers and the Dx3 Pro + wins that but I am not surprised.
@@VortexReviews1 so the price different said it all, ok than thanks for your fast reply🙏
@@birumutiara2169 No worries and all three are good but it depends on money and use case.
So there are no filter setting for dx1? but still good for the price. for a transparent sounding dac for the price of a dongle. good video
No filter setting as far as I am aware. This is a basic unit. I like it and thanks for watching.
Looking to get a dac amp for the first time. dealing with static when i move my mouse was hoping a dac amp could solve it
It might solve it but your computer / laptop seems to have a bad earth.
Time to wait for the dx1 pro+😂😂😂
You never know but knowing Topping I would not rule that out.
One question can i used it with my smartphone if power it through phone OTG or Extrenal power adaptor and use 3.5mm to RCA to play songs through 3.5mm jack?? bcuz i don't have laptop or PC??
I would get something else if you don't have laptop or pc.
Do you reckon this would be good with AT M50x? I've only used Fiio Q1 and want to try something else.
Should be fine for the M50x 👍

You should be okay on high gain but I personally don't own the HD 650.

I have only tried this with IEMs and easy to power headphones with no issues. I have not tried the Aiyima A5 Pro and how was the actual sound quality?

@@t3tr1s0 it should sound good but it also depends if your laptop has bad audio? I recommend the DX1 for a affordable desktop solution under 100USD.

Do you reckon this would be a good fit for DT 1990s? Dont really want to fork out for more than 200, and its either this or the Fiio K7.
What are the specs of that? I am trying to find a link for the calculator for audio measurements.

@@Mog780 I doubt they will power them sufficiently then. Best small solution but is more money is the topping DX3 Pro+
hey vortex, does your dx1 gets warm after few hours of use?? or dac/amps getting warm is a normal thing??
It is notmal for some of them to get warm and my DX1 gets ever so slightly warm and never ever hot.
Hi, can the DX1 drive the Hifiman Sundara?
Yes but I don't know to what level as I don't own them.
This or the ifi uno?
Not tried the Uno unfortunately.
Curious how the inside design, what are the amp section
Me to. I have no idea what it is as they don't seem to show it in the promo material.
what is that one headphone that you mentioned you can't drive on the dx1 but can on the dx3 pro +?
It's probably a planar one. Hard to remember what I said in all my videos.
Topping DX1 or Sound Blaster G6?
Not tried the G6 but the DX1 is decent and I still use this on a daily basis.
dx1 vs uno vs k3 which one do you recommend?
Don't know what the Uno is and I have not tried the K3.
So which of the three you prefer sound wise?
DX3 Pro +
Hai there is it neutral or harsh? If yes can u plz mention peak frequency number?
It does not sound Harsh and if you want to know all the specs then check the Aliexpress link or Toppings main site.
If you bothered to watch the video then you would know he said it was 'smooth sounding'.....😖
do you think is good for hd599?
Should be fine with that.
Topping DX1 or Topping D10S ?
D10S is a dac only. The DX1 is a combo unit with a AMP and DAC.
@@VortexReviews1 I'm more interested in the quality of the line output, since I will use it in a good HIFI system. Thanks
@@ptvav D10s is a dedicated DCA so the line output might be better than the DX1.
What's the length of the included USB cable?
Info is already in the video description.
@@VortexReviews1 Thanks
Does the DX1 sound better than the AP90?
Maybe but only by a very very small amount.
Cant wait to get my hands on the AP90.

This looks too generic even for Topping. Just get a Fiio K3 or K3s around the same price. Heck, iFi Uno looks better for your mobile laptop setup.
Before you write a comment, I advise you to think. Otherwise, your comment looks like absolutely unsubstantiated subjectivism
Can you push a HE400SE well?
Possibly but I don't own that to test it.
Easily, with margin. On high gain I'm listening on 35% volume top.
