Thanks for watching and Happy Flute Making!
I watched this twice and learned twice as much.
Hey Charlie, My husband purchased an Eb flute from you in June 2016, I'm playing songs its been lots of fun. I also love the flute bag and butterfly fetish. I wired on a blue faceted Peruvian opal on top of the fetish. It looks so sweet.
One of the most sweetest gifts I ever recieved. very special purchase from you.♡
Thanks again
I have a couple of questions for you about tuning it.
kate
-glances at the sunflowers in my garden- I'm coming for your stalks
I appreciate your videos man. I been making them for about a year I made a few years ago
You bet my friend! Look out for more new videos on the way! Keep up the good work also!
What a super awesome idea. I have a small plot of sunflowers that I sow for appearance and food for birds to make winter storage from (only collect enough seeds for next years planting). I am going to see if I have good enough stalks to make simple whistles to give away.
You forgot "just a fuzz" as an alternate measurement. LOL! I think I've binge watched most of your videos in the past week and plan to grab some supplies this weekend to try my hand at crafting a flute. Thank you for the great tutorials.
You bet my friend! Thanks for watching and for the wonderful measurement information :-)
This is so cool. I have my first round of 7'+ sunflowers growing, and as a musician I'm so excited that this video exists. Can't wait to do this later this year.
Excellent! Be sure to check out some of our other videos to help out with your project!
I realize it's kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good site to stream newly released tv shows online?
@Garrett Davion Flixportal =)
@Easton Gordon Thanks, I signed up and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it !!
@Garrett Davion You are welcome :)
Thank you Charlie & Jessi .you have great patience and though ness -Both of you - :). - Mike
Thanks Mike
Charlie thank you so much for this video. I bought your book and this video sure helped me understand the building of the flute. I found a hollow stalk of something and it plays. I got lucky for a first try. Thanks again.
Thanks!
G'day Charlie,
My, that is a great looking tuner stand you have. LOL Another fantastic learning video.
Thank you
Tom
Yes! It is a great stand! I've been meaning to post a pic on Facebook. Thanks so much!
I use it everyday! Thanks again for the gift my friend!
Thank you for sharing such valuable
Information
You bet my friend! We have lots of other videos to check out and new ones on the way!
Excellent video! My wife & I grew a handful of sunflowers years ago, harvested and kept the stalks for future use. I have a few ready for making into flutes. After watching this video I feel a bit more confident in making a decent playable sunflower stalk flute. Thanks for the book and sharing your skills.
Excellent my friend! Please let me know how it goes. Thanks again for watching!
A smidgen ! Yes I know this measurement ! On my 4th flute. Getting the idea now ! Buying your book and tools soon
Hello Charlie & Jessie, thanks for a great video always so many hints and tips ..here in England I have made some mini flutes from wild teasel it's hard to find a piece that is straight with a large enough diameter, I will be encouraging the kids to grow sunflowers next year - grow your own flutes they will love it.
It's always great to get the kids involved! Thanks!
It's amazing how you can make what sounds like a concert quality instrument out of a sunflower stalk!!! Can heated tree sap be used in the place of synthetic glues?
I have the same question as Super Glue seems to be contrary to the idea of using all organic supplies that can all be grown at home.
@@bradfordcraig2667 From past experience I have found that different types of tree sap become liquefied after being heated and then harden, amber like after cooling. Most likely the temperature will change the properties as well. Perhaps you could experiment. Good fortune to you
Thank you! This is very inspiring. I have some sunflower stalks drying now.
You are welcome! I regularly use tobacco stalks and elderberry to make flutes as well. You can use just about any type of hollow weed or plant.
very interesting, thank you
Wow Armin! My friend, its been a year and I missed this comment. Strange coincident or my way of saying hello? You decide! Thanks for always watching my videos!
Charlie, have you tried “foam safe CA?” I build model planes from balsa wood. The foam safe CA doesn’t fume as much, hardly at all, as the standard CA. It is a little more expensive but not exorbitant. I enjoy your videos and have been trying some of your techniques on PVC flutes for my Grandchildren. NO BURNING though. Bob
Be sure to check out my recent pvc low bass F video! Thanks for the info and for watching my friend!
might have some luck with that as got some mammouth sunflower seeds to plant, in spring.
I have use a piece of 1/2" rebar to remove stuff from didgeridoos and flutes it has a rough texture that helps remove stuff. can be used cold or heated.
westbows very good idea!
Hi, do you have any tutorial videos that show your process? I'm applying for a local grant for supplies to do a flute making project. Your idea sounds like it would be very helpful
Awesome job !
Cholie is You might try forging some long spoon bits with T handles for soft centered plants check out le valy tools To see how to make them They are not long enough but you can make them Long as you want
Hi Richard, this is awesome! I do hope you can make me one or have some in stock. My mother passed away on sunday, she loved sun flowers and she loved me playing the NAF. It would mean so much to me to be able to play for her on a sun flower stalk... I live in the Netherlands. I sent you a message on your contact form.
Hi Liesbet, I also lost my both my parents within the last decade. What a wonderful tribute to your mother! If you end up making a playable flute, please post the results!
Bradford Craig Hi Bradford, in the mean time a friend of mine made a beautiful flute for me from a sunflower I harvested from my garden. 🌻
flower power 🌻
Would love to see you make one out of elderberry.. Is elderberry native to your area?
It is native and I've made quite a few elderberry flutes, so I'll have to do that for a video soon! 🙂
@@BlueBearFlutes We have blue elderberry out here. I've gathered some, but haven't cut into it yet. Still need a bit more knowledge before I take the knife to it. Thanks for your amazing videos.

Please feel free to email me using the form on my website www.bluebearflutes.com so we can talk. Thanks!
Wrap the ends with cord to keep from spliting thats an old Ndn trick
Yup. It works!
Reminds me of Post Malone.
Is your book available as an ebook?
