Good to see George Eliot getting a lot of love! My favourite author along with Dostoevsky and Dickens.
The Heathcliff comment made me laugh so much. This video is wonderful, thanks again
I know. Helene is spot on!
Outstanding video! Thank you for compiling!
Thanks :)
This was wonderful. I've been scouring RUclips for several months, looking for other BookTubers who appreciate Victorian literature, but my searches turned up only a handful of the channels you feature here. Thanks! As for my recommendation...Although it's not my favorite Victorian book of all time (that's still "Jane Eyre"), this fall I've been enjoying a close reading of Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray," which I am featuring in a Victober-inspired series on my fledgling channel.
I hope you enjoy them all :) I'd also highly, highly recommend Amanda Center (ruclips.net/channel/UCWWMESM5FUg-Reb7uxBdkfw), Annie from Bloom TV (ruclips.net/channel/UCq8mFyC1Pq4brj2C8yiCEqQ), Lucy from Lucythreader (ruclips.net/channel/UCshc1VYtf4bI3Q7Ibi5J-Cg), and Reneta from Book Craving (ruclips.net/channel/UC74GUH8-ZbU3KcyPbG4viiQ), who weren't able to contribute but are brilliant booktubers on Victorian literature.
Between your 'talk' about the 101 Victorian novels you've read and this video my Victorian TBR is getting out of hand. However I would like to put my two cents in: The Twilight Stories by Rhoda Broughton. This is a collection of ghost stories that was first published as Tales for Christmas Eve. So perfect for this time of year.
I really need to read some Rhoda Broughton - I'll add that to the list :)
I've really enjoyed finding this community on RUclips. You all have been so great at getting me back into reading. Thank you all for the recommendations. :)
Thanks Nathalie - enjoy the recommendations and I hope you found some great new channels here.
Yaaaas! This was awesome! It made me so happy to see good ole Oscar on here!
Thank you so much, Katie, for putting this together and reaching out to me! 😁
Thanks so much for being part of it :)
My TBR just about exploded... 😅 In all seriousness, I loved this! Thank you for coming up with this idea, Katie. Not only did it make me want to read tons of new classics, it also made me discover a few amazing Booktubers I hadn't been aware of before. 😊
I'm sure you'll love all the channels and all the books! Thanks for taking part :)
Loved this!
Katie! This concept is just Amazing! Congratulations on completing another #victober!!
Thank you! It was great fun to do.
This is so amazing! 😍 Thanks for this, Katie!
I'm glad you enjoyed it - thank you for being part of it :)
Thank you so much for inviting me to participate in this project :) this video was an utter joy and I'm so pleased to listen to so much bookish enthusiasm and discover so many new channels :)
I'm so glad you could be a part of it :) I hope you enjoy the new people and books you've found.
Just found this WONDERFUL video, thanks so much for the great recommendations. I would love to see more of this type of video. Well done!
Thanks - I'll try and do one again in the future, though they are tough to put together.
A ton of classics I haven't read, including some I haven't heard of - lord knows I'll have to get to them soon enough. This has been a most amazing month of all the Victorian things. Thanks to all involved for the recommendations.
I hope you enjoy them as and when you get to them.
Love this! October got away from me, but I so loved being a part of Victober, although I was less vocal than I would have liked. Thank you for making this video!
Thanks :) I'm glad you enjoyed Victober, even if it got away from you a little.
Well, that takes care of that. I'll be reading classics for the rest of my life! (Contemporary lit and I haven't been getting along lately anyway)
Ha well I hope you enjoy them.
This was beautifully put together Katie! It has reminded me of the Victorian novels I still really want to get to like Middlemarch, Silas Marner, and the Pickwick Papers 😄
Thanks! I had so much fun making it :)
An interesting month of videos I'v enjoyed, thanks Katie. Among other texts, my Victober reads were the Woman in White, and Washington Square.
As it gets closer to Christmas, maybe you could discuss Dicken's Christmas ghost stories; as you know there are many of them.
I do enjoy Dickens's Christmas works. I may read/reread a few around Christmas time.
Thankyou Katy, this was wonderful!
Yessss this came out so well! Thank you so much again for putting this lovely collaboration together! I see more Victorian lit in my future! XD
Yes, so you should! It was great fun to make.
I have started to read the classics in October and so far so good 😊 i have never been able to concentrate or even find the interest to read them, but that surprisingly changed last month. I'm almost halfway through The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë and i love it. I hope i'll finish it and get on with Wuthering Heights next. Fingers crossed. P/s: you are now my source of inspiration 😁💜 thank u!
I'm so glad you've been enjoying classics this month. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Wuthering Heights are so good, so enjoy :)
What a fun video idea! A great selection of books and definitely a few new people for me to subscribe to.
I hope you enjoy their channels :)
Surprised nobody mentioned Thomas Hardy
So many books I haven't read yet. This was a great idea. Thank you.
Enjoy :)
I loved watching this. I love booktube 💖
Great work Kate!
Thanks - and thanks so much for being part of it :)
This is so wonderful! I loved it Katie!!!
Thank you, and thank you for being part of it :)
Awesome video! I'm a little sad #victober is over but I had loads of fun!
Me too! I'm glad you had a good time.
Just added Villette, by Charlotte Bronte for Vicktober!
Enjoy!
Amazing video! Great recommendations!
Thanks :)
Awwww I'm still so sad I wasn't able to participate but wow everyone seems awesome and amazing and I can't wait to add all these books to my TBR!
There are certainly a lot of great books here to add to your TBR - enjoy :)
Great video! I would also recommend The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë. 😉
It is such a great book!
Brilliant! A tour de force!
Thanks :)
What a great video! I'm looking forward to next #victober
Thanks :) Me too!
can't believe no one recommended north and south by elizabeth gaskell!!
I can assure you a lot of us do love it!
The problem with 9 out of 10 of these is that they like novels mostly for how well it fits into the culture of critique rather than on what its artistic merits are or how captivating it is.
I dream of a world in which the word "misogyny" is never used unironically --- where it's only the punchline to a joke.
