Water isn’t enough to remove the grimey and grainy feeling so we use mild soap and rags And our skin does not get stripped of oil because a basic study of the integumentary system will let you know that sebum replaces itself ever so often because the glands are embedded in the dermis so you physically can’t affect them with exfoliating or frequent showering(unless you have a skin condition) because the only layer of SKIN affected by the act of scrubbing or showering is the stratum corneum which is made of just dead keratinocytes. It gives a dry feeling afterwards but it goes away when new dead cells move up from the other layers and sebum is secreted all over again. dead skin cells and bacterial growth is common place on skin if you don’t wash regularly because we secrete different oils that support microbial growth on our skin due to the natural flora present. But even if you don’t want to bathe the surface, you have to wash the areas that possses apocrine sweat glands such as the gentials/ anus, mons pubis and axilla because aprocrine sweat glands secrete sweat that gives odor. You may not smell it because of olfactory fatigue. Also morning showers are especially a common practice for some places like mine because it simulates venous return and circulation which awakens you more and decreases risk of blood stasis.
