@Martin OnTheWeb Ig stories.
Welcome to Finland! It is time to chill during summer but I hope you can enjoy (endure) autumn and winter also. Not being sarcastic or mean - it can be tough at first if you are not used to darkness and cold weather. I wish you all the best.
I have lived in Finland for 41 yrs, and during summer I always forget how miserable those autumn months are! After November (and maybe December) it gets better! But wouldn't change anything. Summer is freaking awesome!
Thanks for the warning I’ve had many
And I can’t wait honestly
Maybe I’ll never wanna see winter again 😭 😂
But most definitely I’ll be having as much fun as possible here in this Finnish winter
@@GIOBOZZ That is indeed the right mindset - enjoying regardless. Maybe you will learn to love the changing seasons in Finland. I actually do love them as a native Finn with known family history here extending to 14th century. By the way, November in Finnish, ”marraskuu” means dead or moribund month. I am looking forward to follow your path of life here.
I would've thought it's hard work in the summer and relax in wintertime?!
I'm actually surprised that you choosed the north of Finland, but it sure is beautiful! I really hope that you will enjoy it.
Thank you!
Hope he knows how to ski, there's a lot to ski and scenery is different.
@@bobsnabby2298 Otherwise I hope we will get a video from a ski-lesson or so :D
Hi, I think you will be fine in Finland as a black man (or as anyone) if you just act decently and respect the Finnish culture. We value honesty, trustworthiness and a good work ethic a lot here. People around you will notice and they will not see skin color after seeing you're a good character. My humble opinion, and welcome to Finland :)
Been here for almost 3 weeks and I agree
I’m slowly getting to understand Finnish people and being more comfortable
I personally don’t care about the color difference
It’s all about character here honestly!
Comical how accommodating Western nations are. To say he'll be fine is an understatement. How about he try living in any African nation? Won't be nearly as safe or as welcoming as Finland. But the only thing that matters is whites being self-effacing and ready to displace themselves, that's the modern morality, the new "virtue."
Welcome to Finland. Hopefully you’ll enjoy your life here!
Welcome to Europe and Finland mate ✌️🇫🇮
Cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰
Welcome to Europe, the Nordics and Finland.
Cheers from Sweden
This is so amazing! I've seen your vids from the US & you actually did it! Not just talk, talk, but actually making your dream come true & making your life better by DOING IT! I wish you so much happiness and a great life in your newly chosen home.❣
I've been waiting for couple of months to be able to say this: Welcome to Finland, bro! You seem very happy =)
Thank you for watching
Thank you for waiting
Thank you for your welcome
I’m so excited to watch your journey! And Finland of all places, but that makes it even more unique and better. I haven’t been to Finland myself but I’m guessing it’s not very different from Sweden, where I’m at. I never hear anything bad about Finland, only good things, so I hope you’ll be fine there and like it. I do have a few references, since my mother when I was a teenager was married to a Finn, so I had a Finnish stepdad, a stepbrother and a stepsister ☺️. I’m looking forward to everything with this journey of yours 👍🏻.
CONGRATULATIONS! So happy for you. There is no teacher like travel.
Welcome to Finland! I hope you enjoy and have great and good experiences that keep you here
Welcome to Finland! Mad respect for you to explore other than just the southern part of Finland. It makes me genuinely sad when even many Finns overlook the rest of Finland. Hoping you'll enjoy your life here! Ps. North Karelia has the friendliest people. ;) My friends from all over the world love it here too.
Hi Gio! Wow! I didn't know that you planned to move to Finland! And up there in the Big North! I recognize you from the "reacts" videos.
You're one of those free- thinking U.S. guys that I wish there were more of!
I hope with all my heart that your stay here will be worthwhile and that you'll have nothing but good experiences here, too. To live up there is an extreme thing and you may like it better somewhere less extreme in the middle or southern parts of Finland.
The temperature was around +30 degrees Centigrade (86 F) for a while even up in Lapland, but it is already back to normal (lower 70s F).
You're a young guy, so you have time, and I hope the opportunity, to travel around Europe. (I have lived in Paris and in Chicago.) There's a great variety among all the states in the U.S., but the various countries of Europe are even more different one from another. And distances are fairly short, so that going from one country to another is easy!
The Nordic countries make up their own group and are like siblings, while the rest of the European countries are amazingly different considering that they are neighbors!
Anyway, I hope that you won't be too disappointed by your stay in Finland. The Reality isn't always what you expected...
But hey, just stay cool! I'll be following your adventures in this land of forests, lakes, rivers, islands, and wide open skies!
Welcome!
Thank you for the lengthy comment, I truly appreciate it.
I must say it’s been great thus far and definitely would like to visit the rest of the Europe with the help of god
We celebrate Midsummer in Sweden too. I think all Nordic coubtries has at leat some kind of version of it. I'm so curious about your living situation. Do you live with someone like a family or something or have you found a place on your own?? Looking forward to all your upcoming videos 👍🏻
Welcome to Finland! I hope you'll enjoy living here even when the weather is not as good as it has been. 😄 Well, this week has been too hot for me, but it seems like it'll get a bit cooler soon (still warm, though). Enjoy the summer while it lasts! Also, I hope you wont get bitten by too many mosquitoes!
Picked a good time to arrive, it’s been a beautiful summer so far 👍
Most definitely
Paljon onnea! You are living one of my dreams. Enjoy the peace & nature. Hope all goes well
Thank you and I hope you live your dreams too
Welcome! I really hope you enjoy being here! :)
I've been following your channel for a while now and just came across this video!!!
So good to see you happy and the excitement as you've gotten to Finland.
Also, forgot to add: it's so interesting to see you first moved here in the midsummer, so you first experienced the midnight sun, before the polar night!
Welcome to Finland. Here comes a pro tip that nobody probably will not tell you. And to be honest I'm aware of this only because I have a friend who moved here from Australia for a teaching job and the organization that they worked for made them aware of it. If I remember right you moved here from state that has a lot of sun. That compared to the fact that you moved also to the area in here that has no sun at all part of the year you need to made sure that you take vitamin D supplement at least three seasons of the year. Summer may be only one where you may drop it but some locals keeps taking it through the year since you need to be outside to get it from sun. But besides of that you also need to take higher dose of it.
Your body has grown in area where you have plenty of sun and it most likely is use to have vitamin D in high levels naturally. Even with your dark skin. That is the second thing that works against you in here. Specially on those times when we have little or no sun during the dark months. You have less chance to create it naturally but in the same time your skin color also prevents you from making it. That benefits you in those areas where it is supper sunny but works against you here where the sun is away big part of the year.
And it is super important thing to your health that you get enough of it. Your immune system needs it but also your bone health and mental health too. Seasonal blues are really common in here and lacking vitamin D is part of it. So you will make the coming winter a lot easier to yourself if you make sure that you get enough of it. But enjoy the summer now and I'm waiting to see all the videos that you are posting here from this move.
Even though I'm danish - welcome to Scandinavia and Finland 🤗
The Nordics*
Welcome to Finland! :)
welkom to Europe, big hugs from Belgium
Welcome. I’m from originally from Ethiopia but have lived here over 20 years.
That’s wonderful
Hope it has been great for you!
Welcome! I'm glad to hear you've liked it here so far! Looking forward to future content, thank you for doing reactions and giving thoughts. They're fun to watch!
Bro welcome to Finland ! I do hope you will like it here. As a guy coming from
such a different kind of country I know it could be challenging. Hoping for the best.
Take care!
can't wait to see you! and welcome bro!
Welcome to Finland, I immediately get the feeling that you'll fit in just fine here! I hope you live a happy life here c:
Wow, you actually did it! So happy for you! 🤗 And glad that you began your journey by exploring the nature up north. Lots of mosquitoes there now? Are you staying with a friend or renting a room? Learning how to ride a bike is the best thing, bro! You will enjoy cycling all over Europe's countryside and cities. 😄
Happy new country, happy living in Finland to you! 🇫🇮
So how far north, is 'in the north of Finland'?
It looks beautiful, as always..
Finland (Sweden & Norway) have some beautiful lakes and mountains to explore..now you have the opportunity to do it all!!
About shopping...milk is bought in 1l. containers...sometimes you can find them in 2l. plastic containers, but not often
Enjoy the long days/nights of light, as it will change to the opposite, in October 😉
hello from Denmark 🌸🌱
Yeah, and be prepared mentally for the winter. It's a lot different but enjoyable in a different way. Keep your mind positive! :D I don't know how it is up in the north since I live far south but it is wonderful when the spring and summer come again next year. Earlier here than there but I'm not sure exactly how much :)
Welcome to Finland! I am so exited to listen to ur thoughts abt finns. We are mainly very honest, sincere people and once we get to know a person we become warm and trustworthy friends. U are yourself awesome and openminded👍😃i Hope u continue having positive things around ur life here. God bless u🙏
Welcome to Finland! You did what you said you would. Beautiful scenery and all that. I am also by the water, about 70m away. Although on the seashore in beautiful Hanko in the south of Finland. In a house owned by the family. In the summer, you should travel around Finland and experience its beauty in thousands of destinations. Welcome once again to the country!
Welcome! 🇫🇮
Welcome! I hope you enjoy it here in Finland, and find what you are looking for to your life :) It is not for everybody, but to someone who enjoy quietness, nature, and peace in general can find something to love in here.
Most definitely!
Welcome to Finland! So you ended up somewhere in "poronhoitoalue" 😃 It's much better option than the capital area or a major city imho 👍
Tervetuloa! Congratulations on the move! So excited to see how you're getting on with things. Curious about your culture shocks, tending to reindeer and what not. Have you been to sauna yet? of course you must have, I can see the sauna by the lake. Looking forward to more videos! Greetings from Sweden!
Just a little nitpic: I hope there are not reindeer hunters in Finland since all the reindeers are already owned by someone. 😂 You propably meant reindeer herders who herd their own reindeer 🙂
Other than that: welcome to Finland! You are in pretty scenery. You also clearly have some kind of family relation here since I doubt you would have gotten in graduation celebration that soon otherways. That will make things easier for you 🙂
You’re totally correct
Herd was the word
Welcome mate! Hopefully you enjoy living in here! Sometimes weather can be pain in the ass, especially autum months before winter, only raining and everything is grey, but that only makes you enjoy and respect other times of the year, like summer and real winter with (hopefully) -25°C / -13 degrees fahrenheit.
Again, welcome to Finland mate🧡
Welcome to Finland!
That's great! It looks beautiful! I'm glad for you - things back here are the same, so you're in a good place! I hope it all goes so well for you!
Welcome! ❤ ❤
Welcome to north! My suggestion is to learn some new skill or emprove the old ones. It can be anything out of the box. When it gets cold you'll have lots of spare time compared to the summer. Good luck with Finnish, it will go well, just take your time!
Thank you for the advice
Welcome! Tervetuloa!
Yey congratulations, you did it! And awesome that you got the chance to experience Finnish summer and Lapland!
Oh man, 5 seconds in and the landscape looks perfect. Welcome, or i should really say: Tervetuloa!
Thank you
I really look forward to following your Journey. Enjoy
Some Americans of Finnish background also have a Juhannus Kokko; where I am fro in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula there is one place where it’s been a 100+ year tradition. I have been watching your vids since you were first blogging about going to Finland ( I am a subscriber) with interest. I remember being in Helsinki and seeing a fellow American, African-American, and wondering what it would be like for an African-American to be in Finland and , kittos! Now I will!
Welcome to Finland :)
That's crazy I didn't think you were going to finally move for another few months at least, didn't know it was so soon. Good stuff ! I'll finally be in Belgium in one week myself. Looking forward to more of these VLOG style videos.
Most definitely
I hope you enjoy Belgium
Welcome to Finland! It's been too hot summer for me. Thank god it's cooling down in next week (under 20°C) 😌
Nice. Welcome To Finland! =)
Tervetuloa Suomeen
I live in a small town in Northern Finland and it's interesting that you decided to move to Northern Finland, since many other youtubers I have seen always move to Helsinki or something. But in my opinion you did the right choice. At least I wouldn't like to live in a big city.
(Even tho Finnish cities aren't that big)
Thank you
Welcome to Finland dude! Perfect time to come enjoy the summer
Welcome to Finland! 🥳
Greetings from Northern Norway!
You look so happy! Nice to follow your journey. Enjoy it.
The man is living the dream :D
I still plan on moving to Finland myself. My Finnish should be passable as well. All that is left for me is to find work as a programmer over there.
Congratulations for moving here. You talked about it few times at your reaction channel but i didn´t tought you would be already here 😄.
So you are inside of arctic circle if there are reindeers so you are lituraly in Lapland. Nature ia beautiful and cleanest in Lapland. It sure is place for big differences like there you can see the season changes best. at fall (or autumn how ever you call it) it´s going to be most beautiful are for color changes as we call it "ruska-aika". That is one of the most popular time period as finnish tourists come from Lapland to see the scenary. It´s truly time to wait before cold winter times.
At the Lapland we also have the most harsh & long winters mostly with alot of snow. Even tho it´s cold time and dark the beginning and end of the winter when sun shines in pure white snow it is beautiful too.
Also the best posibility to see northern lights at the night sky are of course in the Lapland too. From fall to spring are the best time to see those. My home city is in costline by the see (Kokkola) and even at that height we can see those every year (same height as Reykjavik in Iceland). There´s about 300km from my house to arctic circle/area (almost 200 miles, one mile is 1,6 kilometers).
Good tip. Get app in to your phone for temperature. I got one too becouse i wanted to see how hot/cold my apartment is. Now i have "only" 25 celsius / 77 fahrenheit inside my small rental apartment in Tampere (i live and work most of my time here, but my own bigger apartment is in Kokkola).
Tip numbet two is related those small mosquitos and other flying small bugs that bite like bastards (blackfly or mäkäräinen in finnish). Buy "Off". It is sold in every market all around Finland and there is sprays, roll ons and even small liquid botles of it. It will relieve a little bit for being outside. Doesn´t help with horseflies (paarma) but those f*ckers are much more easy to spot before bitting.
This one is more of a warning. Check your skin that you wont get ticks from long grass or hay. Those bastards bites into your skin and sucks your blood to breed. Those are increased all around Finland near of sea, lake and river areas. Some of those might spread lyme disease. Also removal isn´t so simple that you just rip it of becouse it leaves teeths in side your skin and it might get you nasty infection. There is tips/guides in youtube how to get rid off those if you ever get one. Im 41 years old and never got any so it isn´t very common.
Little bit long comment by i hope it has some helpful information 😄. Have a nice summer and enjoy!
Actually didn't know you planned to move there, but welcome! Hope you will adjust to the long dark nights of winter. Make sure to have warm clothes, eat healthy and be outside whenever the sun is up.
I'm very happy for you!
Summer in Finland is great, everyone loves it.
Tell us how you like the real sauna!
Good luck for the winter, it's going to be unlike anything you've ever experienced in the US South. The dark is a lot harder to deal with than the cold, but you should be ok if you take some vitamin D supplements (or eat vitamin D rich foods like sardines or cod liver).
Enjoy! Europe is a great place to live!
Weeeelcoooomeeeeee!!!! So happy for you! Looking great. I'm so curious of where you are...see that you're up north but..hmm..🤔. Looking forward to this journey!!!!👍🇫🇮 Finnishmama
If you haven´t experienced a winter before, you know, the real one, lots and lots of snow, and cold way under 20 degrees, very soon (4 months) you will. Try to learn to ski, it´s fun when you learn it. : )
Thanks for the advice
WTF (welcome To Finland)
Nice to see that you choose to live up in the north.
About the reindeers. The reindeers aren't hunted, they're livestock and they are gathered into flocks for winter and then when spring comes they are let loose again to roam the forests for the spring - summer - autumn. Each reindeer is owned by someone and they tend to pop up in peoples gardens and they specially like to flock on the roads 😁
I really hope you enjoy the summer, the summer up in the north is really unique and beautiful and then in autumn you'll be loving the ruska when all the leafs turns into red and yellow, the scenery is gonna be really fricking nice. Oh and you said that you've never seen/felt snow... You're in for a treat once the winter starts 😉
Welcome to Finland, I hope you enjoy here. Northern Funland = lots of snow and -30C during winter!
Welcome!
Hopefully, you have found everything that you expected and a bit more 😄
Welcome! I really hope you enjoy your life here.
Welcome here!❣️
Welcome to Finland! And Nice to hear that you are enjoying it! I recommend travelling to the north for Fishing etc, there is Great nature parks there.
Welcome!
Woah i was just thinking about when you'd release the video and yeah,
so happy for you, hope you've had a good start to the life in Finland!
Would love to see videos on pretty much everything and please do a video about yourself too!
Welcome to Finland! Just one advice. Be patient. I mean, really, be patient.

Well, sometimes things happens quickly, sometimes not...

Warmly welcome to our cool country! Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts. 🙂
Thank you
It’s been really hot
So, you desided to head to Lapland? Oh, pretty unexpected I have to say. For work opportunities etc. But welcome!
And good luck with the mosquitoes, horse flies and blackflies… Räkkä, as the call the masses of bloodsuckers is pretty hefty as I was just in Lapland.
Wellcome to Finland.
Welcome to Finland,... 👍
Welcome =) You did right call when you decided to move in during the Summer. Hope all the best for you, if you have something to ask, i can answer through best of my knowledge. I know the culture shock will be huge, specially when winter comes.
Can’t wait for winter
@@GIOBOZZ Remember to eat lots of vitamin D, won't get it during winter since it will be dark =)
@@GIOBOZZ winter is coming ;D
Bro, there are plugins for eliminating the wind and also accessories for the mic for that (which is even better). If you're gonna record outdoors, I highly recommend investing in one of those.
What are the name of those!
@@GIOBOZZ Depending on your camera and mic setup, but the wind shields for microphones are usually referred to as a "dead cat". Lots of them on ebay.
What kind of camera and mic are you using?
Nice to hear you enjoy. However be aware winter. You smile might freeze. ;o)
Wellcome! I hope your experiences are mostly positive. What about the mosquitoes?
They’re some really crazy guys I the north
what what didn't see this coming.. sweet!
Welcome dude! Now you only need a boat and a wakeboard!
😁 and to learn how to swim
In Scandinavia (the Nordic Region) we have a lot more fresh food than in America. You're gonna love it 👍
Thank you
Finland is not in Scandinavia
@@gremezahk1 the Nordic Region then. I will correct it right away.
I'll be there tomorrow. Just on time for the thunder storms
Welcome to living here :) !!
hello from Slovakia, welcome to Europe
Welcome to Finland! Tervetuloa Suomeen!
