      Got a black 2009 megane coupe 1.6 vvt expression, bought it for 2k a year ago, 61'00 miles and absolutely love it. Nice to drive. Had it a year, no probs, maybe get the timing belt changed but just passed its mot no hassle. Rear and side windows were tinted when I bought it and it still looks sleek and sporty even in todays market considering its age in my opinion. Cant fault it.

    Head space is not really bad. Knee room is bad in any car when the front seats are set all the away to the back.

  • @keavyl2903
    @keavyl2903 4 года назад +14

    I recently bought this car because it was cheap and I needed a car due to my other car breaking down and was uneconomical to fix. I do find a bit of outside noise but that doesn't bother me. My 6 ft son finds the back seat comfortable but can't get used to the low seats because we had a high vehicle before. He is only in there once a week. Me as the main driver find the car a nice drive. It has plenty of boot space for the weekly shop and it gets me from A to B. Since I only take the car to work and back and to the shops it does me fine. I don't need to be tearing round the streets or the motorways and I find the car fine for my purposes. The fuel consumption is fine for my needs and I will just need to top up when I get paid next week. This car suits me but it may not be for others. This is just my opinion and it may not suit others and I am not trying to force my view on others but I like this car and it was good value for what I paid for it.

    • @petarmaksimovic4048

    • @keavyl2903
      @keavyl2903 4 года назад +3

      @@petarmaksimovic4048 good point. It's a 1.6 and I said the fuel consumption was fine for my needs because I only use it for work to get me there and back, shopping once a week and nothing else. If was to go anywhere else, like on long journeys it probably would drink most of the fuel but as I said before, it's good for my needs but maybe not anyone elses.

    • @keavyl2903
      @keavyl2903 4 года назад +1

      I would also like to add work journeys are 4 miles there and back so as I said it works for my needs and my needs only. I'm not trying to make you like this car to me it works and that's all I care about.

    I think Mat sums it up nicely when he says the Megane won't hold it's value as well as the VW Golf. But then the Renault Megane is cheaper in the first place.

    About the Megane relationship w/Nissan's models... The (C16) Sentra and the '11 MY Versa/Tiida hatch and sedán are long and short-wheelbase (respectively) versions of the same car (same platform family) as the Megane, both Nissans also use the same family of engines (in USDM 2.0L and 2.5L for Sentra, 1.6L and 1.8L for Versa).
    But the '12 Versa/Tiilda Sedán and the '13 Hatch are long-wheelbase versions of the new Micra/March's V-platform, probably to have some relationship w/Renault models.

    @1959raptor No. These are actually built between Spain and Turkey. There are very little cars produced in France. I think the biggest car producer in France is Toyota (I think the Auris and the Yaris).
    It does not look that bad, but it is poorly designed (most likely a speedy design).
    They are lucky companies buy their cars because the French government pushes them to do so!

    Negatives:
    You get a bit of wind noise at motorway speeds.
    There aren’t many cubby spaces.
    The only one cupholder is in an awkward space.
    When you accelerate, your drink can spill everywhere.
    The glovebox is too small.
    Life is no better for rear passengers because the Megane isn’t as good for carrying adults in the back as a Ford Focus.
    The styling doesn’t stand out from the crowd, unlike the Honda Civic.
    The Megane depreciates faster than the VW Golf.

      @@claudiuolariu8728 The car is still going :) Joke aside, here are few things that I've changed:
      1) The clutch (this depends on the style of driving, traffic and so on)
      2) One of the rear break discs (the problem was with the bearing but it's together with the disc so you got to change both/it's one part)
      3) One engine mount (when the AC was on, then moving the steering wheel made some kind of a vibration)
      The car interior makes lots of sounds (dash plastics, windows, back..). I've been in 20 years older Mercedes taxi and there weren't such noises).
      You're going after a petrol version so I can't really speak about it, but with my diesel one I have issue with it going off once and working really bad (revs go up and down) when the engine is cold and the weather is at about 10 degrees or lower. Supposedly it's a problem with either the diesel nozzle (if nozzle is wrong word for it I apologize) or some pump (that's what I've been told at the service).
      Other than that I've just done the regular part replacements (oil, filters and so on) and the bulbs.
      3 days ago I went for the 150K km service.
      I hope I helped.

    This car is really good, well built, great engine... But, it has almost no room in the back [especially if u have long legs like me] and the central console is awkwardly shaped, so the front passenger keeps hitting it with one knee, and because of that has to move the seat back a bit more.

    Leg room is important. if you don't have leg room you can't use it

    @dublinairportplanes you have absalutly nothing to back up that argument...if this video was about a nissan there would be none of this...yet this car runs a nissan engine and has a very high quality on interior and body work....you come back with some facts about this car that are shit...then i will consider your opinion

    Damn, I haven´t seen a decent glovebox in modern cars, but this one is just a joke. Looks like an envelope, lol...

      The one in my 2009 Peugeot 308 is just as bad, french manufacturers can't be bothered to move the fuse box to the other side which is why it eats into the glovebox space.

    With renault u can never know, had 4 of them (clio, laguna sw, scenic 2, megane 3 and now megane 3 sw)
    Clio and megane 3 sw where brutal, while rest sucked from day 1 and keep brakeing down.
    So with renault, luck is major thing.
