The song is so much more dark after you know the story behind it and why it means so much to Snow. I 100% recommend reading A Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes. I’m the biggest Hunger Games fan I know, and myself didn’t even expect to get the privilege of knowing so much about Snows past life. Powerful book. Just amazing. I really hope they adapt it into a movie.
Are you, are you Coming to the tree They strung up a man They say who murdered three. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met at midnight In the hanging tree. Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where the dead man called out For his love to flee. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met at midnight In the hanging tree. Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where I told you to run, So we'd both be free. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met at midnight In the hanging tree. Are you, are you Coming to the tree Wear a necklace of hope, Side by side with me. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met at midnight In the hanging tree. Is anyone else here after reading the chapter in "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: A Hunger Games Novel"? What an irony this song has as the song of the rebellion, if you now know the origin of it.. Coryo's reaction, when he probably heard the song again, now used by the rebellion, must have been shocked.. ( Hopefully no spoilers included)
Will you, will you, come and stand with me? Together we shout, for all to be free. Strange things can happen here, no more may we just be, at last, at last, Now they have to see. Will you, will you, Come and stand with me? A dead girl calls out, “let my soul be freed!” Strange things can happen here, nor more may we just be. at last, at last now they HAVE TO SEE. Will you, will you, come and stand with me? A young boy lies alone, tied up to a tree. Strange things can happen here, no more may we just be. At LAST, AT LAST, now they have to see. Will you, will you, come and stand with me? Our voices cry out, Police see not our need. Strange things can happen here, no more may we just be. At last, at last, now they have to see. Will you, will you, come and stand with me? Together we shout for all to be free. Strange things can happen here, no more may we just be. At last, at long last, now they have to see.
People who've watched the movie should remember that Katniss wasn't singing this to inspire the other districts or anything. She was singing this because she was asked to sing.

Yes!!! Thank you so much! I've had this stuck in my head since I saw the movie(two weeks ago), and despite my best efforts I couldn't figure out how to play it without it sounding dumb. Your versions are always fantastic, so this is great for me!
Something about this song really gets me going... I think that's the point xD It's supposed to be a rebellious song O.o But seriously, when it's played on the piano, with the left hand playing low notes, really makes it all come together :D
I see quite a few people say that this piece is difficult to complete. It takes even the professionals several attempts to finish pieces like this and they live on the piano. This will take time to learn but everyone can successfully play this entire piece with a couple weeks dedication if you just give it a go. My first piano piece was the first 20-30 seconds of Flight of the Bumblebee even though it seems impossible. :)
+CharLiix31 They put it in two parts because then the movie would be too long they say. I can understand why someone would want to split a 6 hour movie in half. Tell me; would you want to watch a Hunger Games movie straight non-stop that is double the length of the movie Avatar?
Play the video from the beginning, and every time you hear a key, read a syllable. Roses... are red... Violets are blue... there's always an A- -sian that's better than you.
I read the books when I was 11, yet I often encounter so-called 'fans' who haven't even read them. Bonus fact: Here are the locations of the Districts that I can remember (apologies in advance for my crappy US geography regarding the location of the more obscure states): Capitol: Rocky Mountains District 1: Northern inland West (Washington State) District 2: New Mexico, Arizona and North-West Texas District 4: Entire East Coast District 5: Great Lakes (Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota) District 8 or 9: South-East (Alabama, Tennessee, Carolina) District 12: North-Eastern states (D.C, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Delaware) Ruins of District 13: Quebec province of Canada and the most Northern U.S states (Vermont, Connecticut and others that I can't recall)
+PhilisOzup that makes sense considering the military locations in the books. The Capitol's base is close so that could be Cheyanne Mountain in todays locations while 13 could be Raven Rock, a military base built into the mountains and underground in the Northern Washington D.C. area.
If you have read the book, you should know that it is noticeably split in two main parts with different goals etc. and luckily they actually want to include details in the movie.
+Morgan Harris The books explain it about this guy who was hung for some really serious crime calling out to his wife/girlfriend I cant remember which to come hang herself so they can be together again
This must have taken a lot of time and effort, and this is a great video. I'm using it to help me practice singing the song, because I'm doing it for sschool. Great job!

The movie is coming out in 2023
What's the story behind the song?
@@elijahlee3610 an entire revolution. You should watch the movies
@@elijahlee3610 I’ll come back later tonight and explain it, it’s kinda lengthy:)
Guess what, they just did!!!! And it came out today, I’m watching it tomorrow
Are you, are you
Singing this song too?
It's stuck in your head
we all know it's true.
Correct
Yes very much true.
How did you know?
Poet right here peeps
Yep
Strange that you know that but
I still agree with you.
My love for this song,
Has now been renewed.
This was probably one of the best scenes in the movie. Comment what your favorite part was.
same :D
The ending with peeta or this part.
Peeta scary man ;-;
DinoPaw Killblow I know. :)
DinoPaw Killblow I guess you could say Katniss was a bit choked up to see Peeta again...

thank you😀😀
that moment you realize you listend to a song so much you know all the lines off by heart
Stranger Things did happen here.
I read the fucking book and know the lyrics by heart through that...
Its " Wear a necklace of rope" in the book, they changed it in the movie.
I haven't read the full book, but I have seen the movie, it's weird that a little song became the rebels song.
Will you, will you, come and stand with me?
Together we shout, for all to be free.
Strange things can happen here, no more may we just be,
at last, at last, Now they have to see.
Will you, will you, Come and stand with me?
A dead girl calls out, “let my soul be freed!”
Strange things can happen here, nor more may we just be.
at last, at last now they HAVE TO SEE.
Will you, will you, come and stand with me?
A young boy lies alone, tied up to a tree.
Strange things can happen here, no more may we just be.
At LAST, AT LAST, now they have to see.
Will you, will you, come and stand with me?

This should've been the lyrics 👍
That sounds like the 21st century version.
People who've watched the movie should remember that Katniss wasn't singing this to inspire the other districts or anything. She was singing this because she was asked to sing.
Renegade841 People who have read the books should remember this was once sung to her by her father and she thought of the meaning after she had sung it because she was asked.
honestly, I wrote this version of lyrics to symbolize modern problems. Leelah, homosexual abuse, and Ferguson.
The Hanging Tree -Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games, Mockingjay)

Where they strung up a man
They say he murdered three
Strange things did happen here no stranger would they be
If we met up at midnight, in the hanging tree
Are you, are you

Where the dead man called out

Strange things did happen here no stranger would they be
If we met up at midnight, in the hanging tree

+The Ethereal Paladin in the book was exacly like this? 'Cause in italian books they changed a lot of words.

This was how it was in the original book. I mean, what you read was from an Italian book so...

+Ele Silverwolf
In the Italian version they changed the lyrics a bit, but it was to preserve the rhythm of the song...

It's so annoying

It's to mark middle C... Everybody knows that.
Yeah, it's to mark middle C. I put a sticker on middle C when I was a little kid and just learning and it looked just like that, but red. ^^

The movie is good but they shouldn't do it in 2 parts.
Dont watch the film. The film is almost always worse than the book
+CharLiix31 They put it in two parts because then the movie would be too long they say. I can understand why someone would want to split a 6 hour movie in half. Tell me; would you want to watch a Hunger Games movie straight non-stop that is double the length of the movie Avatar?

I love it so much
Who was the idiot who thought splitting the movie up into two parts was a good idea?
Its what they did with twilight breaking dawn isn't it
If you have read the book, you should know that it is noticeably split in two main parts with different goals etc. and luckily they actually want to include details in the movie.
And Harry Potter
mus_niro I have read the book and understand that, but I still could have totally seen them just making it into one movie.
It's a long book
2:30/3:00 SO BEAUTIFUL I NEED THIS TO LEARN ON PIANO
SAME
FINALLY!!!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
The best part of the movie imo
Interesting score. I feel like it deserves more credit. It's written very nicely and it uses accidental a very well!!
You understand this song was based off Billie Holiday, "strange fruit" song. It's a song about African American people being lynched in the early 1900
That's neat.
+Damian Invincible Probably why it gave me the feeling of grief. That, and the events occurring in the movie at the time.
+Morgan Harris The books explain it about this guy who was hung for some really serious crime calling out to his wife/girlfriend I cant remember which to come hang herself so they can be together again
+GeorgeElite The lyrics literally mention that, there is no need to read the books for that.
"strange fruit" always gives me goosebumps when I listen to it
That was one of the coolest parts inthe movie in my opinion
this is simply amazing to see
Bravo pour votre magnifique travail, vous faite vivre et flamboyer le personnage pour toujours
This is the best song ever.i love this song
Amazing and beautiful. I wish I could play it.

The D sharp/ E flat needs to be E natural, other than that, this is great
Nope, if you listen to the original song, you'll find out that the note is Eb/D#, not E neutral.
I finished this song, its so cool ;)
