  • Join the City of Plano, Plano Fire-Rescue and the Sons of the American Revolution for the annual June flag retirement ceremony.
U.S. law allows a flag to be destroyed by fire if it is no longer in a condition to serve as a fitting emblem for display. Here's what happens during a flag retirement ceremony:
1 - A worn and tattered flag is lowered to represent all of the flags being retired.
2 - The flags are inspected and deemed unfit.
3 - The stars are cut away and burned separately.
4 - The stripes are burned.
If you have an old, tattered flag you can drop it off to be included in the flag retirement ceremony. Flag drop-off locations:
    • Fire Station 1 (1901 Avenue K)
    • Fire Station 4 (6000 Roundrock Trail)
    • Fire Station 5 (5115 West Park Boulevard)
    • Fire Station 8 (4555 Hedgcoxe Road)
