A masterclass.
Man I watched this about 100 times and am just amazed. There wasn't all these complicated multiple patterns and combinations, but the smoothness and the styling is beautiful.

Yoandy Villaurrutia. He's amazing. He's doing everything to entertain the girl, he does the shoulders, the turns, funky shoe-steps, stop-starts, slow-quick, every 2 seconds some completely new move... I've watched video 10x already. He does a super funny fake-fall (to amuse the girl) at 01:13 so funny :-). Jumps over his own leg at 04:45. Then does this big-fake-fall, at 04:51 genius. Even the girl gets scared (thinking maybe he actually fell!), but no, it's just to amuse her - then cantilever & and he springs back up , Guy is a genius. Still smiling watching him. Plus, girl, Lety Cano, obviously is awesome too

Pretty sure he knows what he's doing with the drops and leg over, they are common moves in hip hop/breaking, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had done some before like other salsa dancers with unique style (Terry for instance !)
@@Creedlane Oh... Interesting, so the "knee drop", that's a hip-hop move. Thanks. I didn't know that or the name of the move. Haven't seen Terry do it but certainly some other Cuban leaders do it. It looks fab. when done properly. That must be very difficult to execute, you also don't want to pull the follower with you during the move.
@@hvince67 the main thing is that you need enough power in your muscles to do that... look at les twins, who pull off otherwordly moves like low spins on the toe while sitting down :D

Gotta appreciate the passion and enjoyment these dancers bring! You can argue about whether their style of dress or dance fits a certain criteria but at the end of the day it boils down to the two individuals sharing the dance. Their connection, lead-follow communication, and musicality makes the dance FOR THEM. I've only been a salsa dancer for a few years now and dances like this are the reason why. When you, your partner, and the music are just in perfect sync it's the best feeling. During dances like that, the rules of the dance are only a suggestion as you transcend the dance. It feels like so much more than just salsa. Tough to explain, but dancer's know. So I can't knock Yoandy & Lety for their sharing a moment in dance that is personal to them in that moment and having so much fun with it. Note: It looks to me like they are dancing a fusion of Rumba, Guaguanco, Casino, Mambo, and On1 Salsa

yep. as a 18 year salsa dancer and 10 year ball room dancer, musicality gives me a freedom to mix all the dance in a just one song. you can follow music but sometimes it is more enjoyable to lead the music and add your own musical appreciation while dancing.

Me encanta ver bailarines como ella y Desirée o La Alemana que se especializan en bachata bailar salsa. Crean algo muuuy distinto y puede que a veces no vaya con la música, pero se ve súper estilizado y bonito de todas maneras. Al final la música se interpreta como a uno le de la gana y con los recursos que uno tenga.
La alemana consiguió fama con la. Bachata pero realmente es salsera, hay videos de concursos de antes del bun donde concursan en campeonatos de salsa y creo q desire también

I realise that the male salsa dancers that I admire the most like this guy and Maykel Fonts are able to stop. Most salsa dancers just keep spinning throughout the song but so nice to see something relatively simple like a proper stop executed so well. Of course, they have top tier body control which makes it easier to do something during that space.

Por que tanto comentario con odio y declassification ,no entiendo a las personas que no tiene la capacidad de apreciar y disfrutar su baile social, seguramente si quisieran que un montón de personas le juzgaran irían a una competencia, muchos que solo comentan que tal vez ni siquiera tiene la capacidad de apreciar la música, ni tan siquiera entender el folklore de este baile y no hablo de gente que baila hace 2 o 3 años hablo de una vida, debería intentar ustedes de bailar sea on 1 on 2, chacha, rumba, afrocubano a ver como les va. It's called a Tornillo (screw). It's often done in Son Cubano/Montuno.

Por que tanto comentario con odio y declassification ,no entiendo a las personas que no tiene la capacidad de apreciar y disfrutar su baile social, seguramente si quisieran que un montón de personas le juzgaran irían a una competencia, muchos que solo comentan que tal vez ni siquiera tiene la capacidad de apreciar la música, ni tan siquiera entender el folklore de este baile y no hablo de gente que baila hace 2 o 3 años hablo de una vida, debería intentar ustedes de bailar sea on 1 on 2, chacha, rumba, afrocubano a ver como les va.
La danza social no es una competencia aprendan a disfrutar mirando y apreciar el regalo que cada bailarín o bailador les deja cada vez que baila social, ya que esta expresando la danza en su mas puro esplendor.

Por dios se baila a tiempo o contratiempo pero nunca ambas cosas a la vez y si lo haces quieres decir que baila totalmente fuera de ritmo... Mucha payasada y movimientos primate que no tienen nada que ver con el baile de casino... No entiendo porque se empeñan en querer vender un baile de casino que lo menos que tiene es casino...
