Cool. It was the same for me. Finding out that the title "Son of God" in the Bible is always given to created beings, especially to human beings, especially to Israel, and especially to Israel/Judah's king, was what set me off in discovering the one God of the Bible is the Father, and that Jesus is the human Son of God, the Christ (John 17:3, 1 Cor. 8:6). John 1:49: ""Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"
Just to clarify the difference. Your guest was enlightened by the already revealed word. That's not a revelation, it's an enlightenment from understanding the revelation of YAH's word.
Amazing story! Also, in John 3:16, Jesus is called the “only begotten” son of God, and the Greek word is monogenes. However, in Hebrews, Isaac is called a monogenes, also. We know Isaac had a biological brother, though. So this word monogenes (only begotten) can mean “chosen”. Isaac was not the only biological son of Abraham. He was chosen over his brother, Ishmael.
All Israelites are sons of God. Jesus the son of Joseph was never a King in Israel Jesus the son of Joseph never weighed as King ing Israel. Herod was the king in Israel in the life time of Jesus the son of Joseph up to his death.
How did Herod receive his kingship? From Rome. Rome was in legal authority over the Jews. However, Jesus was also found guilty of being king of the Jews, in a Roman court of law, and paid Rome’s asking price for the lofty title. The price was death by crucifixion. “Sure, we will give a descendant of David the legal title… once we get him nailed to a cross” Rome laughed. But clearly Rome didn’t expect Jesus’ friends to run rampant claiming Jesus resurrected, with title in hand. And the rest is history.
The number of Unitarian Christians has been increasing in recent years. Great testimony. God Bless.
