Both are really cool! I use the IR-X but i would like to try the IR-D.
The IR-D has plenty of gain and sounds better overall.
Second. And I was waiting for a vid just like this. THOUGH I really wanted to see a comparizon to the IR-X's Channel 1, as that is a Plexi like preamp, compared to the IR-D's JTM45 ish circuit.
We should have touched on that! Ch1 on the IR-X has way less gain than the IR-D and it’s voiced more like the IR-X. If we dialed the gain back on the IR-D that would have been an interesting comparison

Not sure what y'all are talking about. I'm reasonably certain that channels 1 and 2 are identical. Are you just referring to rolling down the gain in general?
@@slugtoenail Correct. The IR-D can do classic tones with the internal boost off and the gain rolled back. It’s a little different than the low gain channel of the IR-X
@@slugtoenail Yes, the IR-D's channels are the same, both the Dirty Shirley preamp. But the IR-X (first preamp pedal, from last year) has 2 differeny channels, channel 1 being a plexi preamp (Friedman version) and Channel 2 beig a BE-100 preamp. So talking about a lower gain comparison of either IR-D channe, which is a Dirty Shirly, that Dave Friedman based off of the JTM45 ampl to Channel 1 of the IR-X (based off of a Plexi ). Video Aboce compared the IR-Ds Dirty Shirly channel(s) to the IR-X's BE100 channel
How does the ir-x compare to the jel20? I have the ir-x and am fighting GAS for the jel.
How do you do a 30 minute video with no time stamps? 😢
there's something scratchy/quacky going on, is it the kiesel? what's that stringy sort of sound.
Did you post this before or after the 10 minute mark? They turned up the thump/resonance at that point and it seemed to mellow out a bit.
If you figure out what causes that let me know! Something about the way they are made. Leaning towards Music Man guitars in the future

Like the clarity of the IR x both pedal are nice but it's IR X for me
Like them both, but I dig the ir-D a lil more cuz it's got less "harshness" and doesn't sound thin.
Both sounded great, and I agree that the IR-D has something special about it.

If I understand correctly, if the Friedman IR X or D is run through an FX loop of any amp, you get 2 more amplifiers automatically? Wow. 500.00 for two more amps. Sounds like a super deal.

Thanks for commenting. My Kiesel is also on the bright side. Even though it has the same pickups as my Majesty guitars it's still brighter than them. I don't understand why that is the case. Some people say it's the bridge or the pots. I'm going to do some experimenting when I get a chance and try to address that issue.

Been digging the IR-X as a direct solution as well into amp FX return. Have two Friedman amps as well. Have an IR-D coming in today.
One more question I play mostly with the amp and pedals at this point. What would be the best way to hook this up directly to my amp period in front or run it in the effect loop?

This is a silly question, but I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to some things that seems so simple for others.
I run one cable from the return on the amp to what output or input on the pedal?
Also, will I be able to use other effects pedals through the loop?

@surefire1333 if your using this pedal as a preamp, the output on the pedal goes to the return on the effects loop on the amp.
