At 1st; You should get an LSD (LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL), then the whole car changes it´s traction qualitys to the BEST! Better than any 4WD on road! (But you shouldn´t get scared about Drift or even an butt of the car that does even that like you see by the drifters, BUT you get traction an when you´ve a little talent for driving, i guarantee you that this kind of driving is so good, so nice, so different to an RWD car withouth an LSD like it is withouth the lsd still in the moment when you was test to drive. Most people think, that you need 4wd for winter driving but that´s a completely false thing. Because it is like i sayed abovem when an RWD car has an LSD, it is beter than any FWD and also better than the most 4WD cars, especially because the 4WD cars has the same BIG problem of understeering ( the car drives straigt away into the next outside of the corner you like to get. But an RWD with LSD Diff would not understeer, it would turn to oversteering and with a little feeling for the car you can get these turns with the throttle pedal. Because the traction goes directly to the rear axle, where it is strongly needed in suc a slippery condition situation, where ANY 4WD and FWD car would understeer and get understeering, straigth out the curve....
BUT there is anything what i can´t understand; The most RWD cars aren´t equipped with an LSD Diff or Locker Diff, what is such an BIG ISSUE, because like i told above it will change the whole driving/traction condition into the best option for slippery roads! Note that i´m not talking about OFF road. Off road it´s better to get 4WD, but the RWD with LSD Diff is allways better on the road, it´s even the best option of any Automobile Design for the Drivetrain. And that the whole Auto Industry didn´t use LSD Diffs FOR STANDARD in RWD, is even like i told; Not to understand for guys like me who really know WHAT IS DRIVING AN CAR, esp. on these conditions. I live at Bavaria, in an really snowy country, with many hills, mountains & roads that goes trough these mountains. Traction on the roads is a rare thing at these roads in winter. And since i was driving, i allways prefer an RWD car with an LSD Differential. So man y guy was so wondering with theyr FWD & also 4WD cars, when i was driving up the hills and all the curvy roads with these RWD cars that are "known for that they´re bad in winter", like "BMW, Mercedes,..."(Even all with RWD) and that´s only because the most or 95% of these RWD cars doesn´t has an LSD, what is the big fail, that what you should and that you CAN change....I really recromend an LSD Diff Upgrade for any RWD car! You would know about what i´m speaking when you´ve done that upgrade! ;) Cheers!
