Would've been pretty cool if the "AAW" wrestlers actually had their own lore and backstories. That's probably my only complaint. Like say, The Manhandler was essentially "The Ultimate Warrior" during the prime of his career, whose rivaled against Teddy "Titanium" Idol for the World Championship Title. Kinda like an homage between Rocky and Apollo Creed. Ben Eiteef being a soviet MMA fighter with a criminal past, and considering they gave him an actual date tattooed on his chest *(5-16-09/ May 16th 2009)* perhaps this could've been the same day he was convicted for his crime, which he constantly has to remind himself of, as he tries to turn over a new leaf. Hoping to never make the same mistake again. Biohazard being a crazed nuclearpowered supervillain who's attempting to start his very own *WorldWar3* with powerbombs and suplexes, and who's possibly responsible for creating the wrestler, Codename Scales. A secret weapon gone rogue. The Haunted could've been a wrestler who died in the ring, and has now returned as a ghoulish fiend after being resurrected by Forsaken, taking his revenge upon on AAW for allowing him to die unceremoniously. (Sorta an homage to Owen Hart, but with design similarities to "Crow"Sting.) To even The Blue Serpent being a masked vigilante of Mexico and longtime enemy to The Krimson Klaw. Stuff like that would've definitely been fun to see within the game itself. Even if it was just on a simple Bio Screen. Also, hats off to you BigAl for your creations! All of them were pretty spot on.
Awesome to see you cover this game! I do the voiceover work for the trailers, the tutorial, and the in-game announcing. I came on board when the switch to remove the CHIKARA branding took place. Could you please do a video on the transition from WCW by the NWA in the early 90's? I find the whole cross over period confusing, more so the NWA Tag Team Titles and WCW Tag Team Titles during that time as I can't work out who were the first champions because I have read that it was the Minnesota Wrecking Crew in 1975 (I'm guessing this was Georgia Championship Wrestling) but also Doom in 1990 as well as Steve Williams and Terry Gordy in 1992 but also the Nasty Boys in 1994. What reigns are recognised by who? I understand the overall general story of WCW transitioning away from the NWA but a little bit of a back story would be good. Also can you do a video on the International Title as I find that period in WCW a little confusing, the reasoning behind creating the title and why it was scrapped soon after etc.
If you ever plan on doing an episode on RetroMania Wrestling, the title should be something like this: "Broken Promises and Delayed DLC: The Story of RetroMania Wrestling"
I like wrestlin games where the performers actually sell, and isn't so fast paced, something about the fight in between the action that tells a great story.
This game is currently on sale on Steam for $3.74 (75% off). The first one on the 360 was a quirky mess. The second one was really good. Gonna have to fire this one up tonight.
I love this game. I made/downloaded all the characters from the anime Ultimate Muscle since I loved that game on the GameCube. They even have the "superman Muscle Buster." Also, Cyclops from the X-Men is made in every wrestling game, but this is the only one where he can use his optic blast as a finisher. The realistic part is great too. Love doing 5v5 DX, 4Horsemen, NWO matches.
I really love this game. It's fun to play! I downloaded all the wrestlers and goofs I wanted like Casting Couch, AVGN, Victory Road Jeff Hardy, all the versions of Sting and all my favs.
i remember buying the original on xbox 360 then aaw 2. CHIKARA: AAW would have been the 3rd in the series then AAW as it is todays i guess would be AAW4
AAW 3, (1/2) is what it seems like imo. Which is funny if you compare this version to Chikara, it's almost uncanny what stayed and what's been replaced. Such as the two default arenas changing their logos, to the entire roster getting replaced, to even Arcade Gauntlet Mode not being available in the older Chikara version. Just found that fascinating.
The creations are insane. I let my youngest cousins play the game with all the cartoon & video game characters & they had SO much fun. Where else can you have Black Panther battle a broken soda machine in a My Little Pony arena? lol

Both of those games are great with real world databases added to them, and making new databases for them is a snap. I always found TEW a bit on the expensive side for what it is. That pencil should be modded in a WWE game whenever Brian Pillman Jr joins it's roster.
He's already done so. He goes by the name of Lexis King rather than his family name, though.
Frankly I thought it was a reference to Timmy Turner's dad in the pencil costume.
