A heap of leftover bacon grease on newspaper works really well to get it going too if you don’t have the torch handy

Yes. I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s actually really energy efficient. When the fire is biting hot there is little to no smoke that comes out the chimney

My fireplace was built in 1938 Huge, the damper in it is always in the open position. So the air flow knob on the blower that you pull out , I use that to control the fire I have had my Avalon Rainer insert. for 12 yrs it is a great stove. thanks for your input!

Im in central KY, got to -20 and -35 with windchill. We alsobhave a wood stove and it was 80 in the cabin but our pipes still froze since they are ran along the outside of the cabin, its small 720 sq ft. Open concept, so no interier way to run water. Luckily nothing leaked once we defrosted. Love the stove, andbi love cutting firewood even more

Hi when do i pull the lever out? Also I don’t have the thing you’re pushing on top of the chimney
When you open the door you want to pull the top lever that opens the flue. The bottom controls the oxygen flow. All the way in for my stove is full oxygen. All the way out is little oxygen. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this

you can make fire starters out of egg cartons, stuff a couple of cotton balls into each section, melt parrifin and pour over cotton balls
