First story: funny how the pan-hander was out of fuel, yet was able to put the pedal to the metal and drive away. That's a common try-on: somebody tried begging £5-worth from me years ago (when £5 bought a lot more than it does now). The station staff said that character tried it nearly every day, and they usually chased him away.
imagine inheriting 130 acres with a pre-built brand new neighborhood, and getting 12 mil? I'd make an offer on her solar plant and lump them all together into a rental neighborhood.
he doesn't have to make an offer, chances are she doesn't have 12 mil just lying around. He'll probably get that as compensation. or at least partial compensation.
From what I have learned in recent years, it's FAR TOO EASY to claim ownership of someone else's real estate! Low-level county clerks merely file phony deeds without doing any checking on the validity of a land/house transfer.
As the new houses had not been sold yet it’s possible it had only been partially built on, in which case the OP could have requested the houses remain so he could rent them out and farm on the rest of the property. Win/win for the OP.
I am hoping that the OP requested and the court ordered that Karen demolish all of the houses and restore the land. I get what you mean, but I am thinking what would cost them the most, as well as seeing their work being bulldozed.
saw my grandma. she is almost 84, longevity runs in her family (she says because of age of her parents, and other family when they died) she wont be surprise if she lives to be 100 or more. but she is no fool. she already has a will in place and told family. see something you want...tell her and she will leave a note its someone's. I know that part is not set in stone but i always believe a will is important. I gave her advice. if there is someone you want to leave out....leave them $1. Hard to dispute a will if you are in will vs not in will
ripe did a similar story last week with same deal. large inherited land, greedy hoa with right connections and absent op in another country. a lot of homes were built (100 in total)...only in that story OP didnt find out till 20ish years later (they told him stop making claims to land as they had houses and paying property tax). so op did sue......it took a few years where HOA tried to build more houses despite court order no is to touch the land further. Of course op won but as a result each and every house had people...families, kids...living in there and had to vaccate
Only once did I have someone beg gas from me. I was on my way home from work and needed to fill up the tank. Not really paying attention to comings and goings he walked up to me. His story was indeed pathetic. He claimed he’d been beaten and robbed. Honestly, he looked the part. I bought him gas. Angels come disguised. I felt it’s best to entertain them. If nothing else, it felt good to be able to help someone out….even if it was a lie. I don’t think it was. His whole demeanor screamed victim. And he was almost as short as I am, which is a 5 ft woman making me believe that he could easily have been a thief’s target.
The last story doesn’t sound real. Usually, restitution requires bringing the property back to its original condition. Court proceedings are time taking and this would be years in the making. There could be proceedings to have a halt of sales and further development. But this is a lengthy process requiring step by step legal procedures. It’s just too compact of a story especially with the amount of corruption going on that would slow down things as the layers must be stripped away to get compliant witnesses (trading testimony versus criminal activity).
The first story about the guy begging the Op for gas got me. The one thing I hate is when you tell someone No, and they can't take that as an answer and just move on. I never give them a chance to ask more than twice. The third time they ask me, I tell them in a very annoyed manner to " Look at me. I'm walking with a cane, so I'm obviously disabled and I live on a fixed income. " Then I ask them if they have any money to lend me so I can get through the month. That usually shuts them up.
Wow, that last story was some imaginary bull of the highest order. This woman supposedly had a solar farm that she just happened to be the sole owner of, and somehow between that and the homes not being sold is what saved her? Here is what a judges ruling would typically be in a situation like this. Return the land, and to its original state if possible, if not pay compensation (in this case it sounds like, if this is real) she couldn't hence 12 million. Here's the problems with this story. This karen would have had to, for this story to work, gotten a multi-million dollar loan for development of the land, or she just had that money lying around. But most likely, the loan. When little HOA neighborhoods like this are being build, lots are typically pre-sold. The whole place isn't being built at once, the first crop of houses gets built, and sold, and people move in while the next crop of houses are being built. IN NO WAY does an entire neighborhood, spanning 130 acres, get fully constructed without the houses being either pre-sold, or sold during the time of the construction. Then you question the timeframe for the supposed OP to hear about his new winfall, and go inspect it. From the sound of the story, it wasn't all that long. He was volunteering in africa, and said he just got the idea to be a farmer, and just comes home, so we are presuming a month? Maybe 2? Average construction time for a home is about a year.......for 130 acres, there is zero way the houses were built simultaneously, and I doubt he just left the land sight unseen for even 12 months, let alone the 3-4 years it would have taken to get this full neighborhood built. At most. Especially knowing that he would owe a tax liability on all this land. Next is zoning laws, since this guy presumed to start a farm, that presumes this land either was a farm, or was at least zoned agricultural, meaning karen would have needed even more bribes and such to rezone that huge of an area. This whole story reeks of "Things that didn't happen for 1000 with a daily double"
Land Story: If I'd been the Judge overseeing OP's Case, I'd ask OP what he wants done with the land, does he want the houses on it transferred to his Ownership so he can sell them or rent them out for income or does he want the land restored to it's pre-construction state? If OP REALLY wanted to financially screw Catherine, he'd opt for restoration to arable farmland...taking down all those houses and decontaminating the land (concrete is NASTY stuff) would cost a LOT more than the 12 Million Catherine has already been ordered to pay OP... 😄😁😆😅😂🤣
😂😂one of my closest friends was a convenience store owner and I can guarantee "Jacob" would've been fired for refusing training on the new register. Never mind the harassment and use of the other staff. 😂😂😂
I've always considered begging as the lowest form of being a human being you can be. I vowed I never would beg anybody for money because I know I am just as low as this a-hole.
Pride is only good in very small doses. If you are ever genuinely in need, I hope you will find the courage to ask for help. But being a leech, like the guy in the gas station story, THAT is unacceptable.
My choosing beggar story I just got paid check my balance at cash point and got some money out beggar asked if i had change for a drink i said sorry only notes but i can probably get you something what did you want beggar asked for cider i refused to buy alcohol but repeated that if he wanted a hot drink or a soda i would get it for him

I wonder if the last OP kept the houses or had the judge ordered them demolished and the land returned to a state of being able to be framed.

There are multiple stories on Reddit similar to the stolen land story you used here. One goes back to WW II
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's sad in the first story that the man was in such desperate condition to feel the need to beg for gas for the car.😢
Desperate enough to beg for gas but had enough gas to speed out of the lot and insult OP? Gimme a break he just wanted money for drugs or something

😱 wow

🧡🍒✌️
You know what I would do with those houses? Keep them, charge rent & not give the HOA any of the money since that land belongs to me exclusively!😊
I'd ask the court to order her to demolish the houses and restore the land. Make her watch as her plan is literally torn down.
Good morning all and hope everyone has a great day

same to you!

Last story, there is seldom time in jail for white collar crimes.
Especially if it is a woman.
Your wrong in the last story land Karen got years in prison. That's a big no no
Massive fraud and corruption like that, you best believe that there's prison time for the conspirators.
When the property being fraudulently taken is worth that many millions of dollars? You bet your ass people are going to jail.
The story is about a civil case. They did say a criminal case followed.

Listening to this while busting ass at a gas station. Love it! Very relatable
Asking for a $40 tank of gas is crazy! That guy would get farther just asking for a dollar from 40 people! 🤔🤷🙄
