Great video Terry! Personally, I agree. I use Lightroom to manage and retouch photos; Photoshop to compose and edit images; Illustrator to draw logos and icons; InDesign for document design; Dreamweaver/Muse for Web Design; Premiere for video editing and After Effects for post-processing. I am a beginner of seven tools!
Thank you pedro before i watched this video, now dont't need to watch video fully, i read your comments you explain in very short about Adobe application and their purpose , you save my time Mr. Pedro
Thank you, I really enjoyed this video. I had no intention of watching all the way through but very well done, I have the understanding of the differences that I was looking for.
Thanks Terry for the very clear parameters for selecting the correct design tool for the job. This was very informative.
*SUGGESTION FOR ANOTHER TUTORIAL:* Over the years I've mostly used Photoshop with a bit of Illustrator. The thing that has stumped me is designing to print on a specific size paper. Every time I go to print I always get the error, *_Too large for the selected media_*. I'd love to see a tutorial to help me figure out how to get the info from my printer so that I can tell Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign exactly what they need to know to print on the printer I have with the paper I've selected.
Your sense of humor just makes everything flow :) thanks for to tut Terry, Loud, Clear amd very Helpful.
Thank you for a very clear presentation on the differences between the apps. I am a newbie who bought the Adobe Suite to learn for my own personal use. I will definitely subscribe.
Thank you Terry!!! You seem so nice and knowledgeable in your area of work. I enjoy your videos beyond words. Even when I am tired you captivate me and make things look easy and doable. Hugs from Dana
So...
Photoshop: Photo Manipulation, Layering, Effects.
Illustrator: Drawing Vectors, Types.
InDesign: Layout Designing, Magazines, Books etc.
Everything you can do in InDesign and Illustrator you can do in Photoshop. Of course, it's going to be harder and take longer, but then you won't need to rent 3 pieces of software.
Thanks for the shortcut.
@@weplaywax So that means photoshop can do all?
Ahmed Tarek i love you. Cause your right.
I guess I already knew... time to start painting the fence with indesign
Seriously awesome instruction...I learned some really cool tricks that will save me hours of time. Thankfully I started on Quark so I never thought I should do all my projects in illustrator or photoshop. The precision of a layout app can't be beat. InDesign is awesome! Used it for a friend's identity package, with biz card, envelope, letterhead, and invoice size artboards. Nice! Also love the character styles and paragraph styles ability. Incredibly powerful! I learned that when I did a poster for my spouse and she changed her mind about the colors and the fonts and their sizes. Boom! Took just 15 minutes to remap the whole complicated document. 20 years later, I'm finally coming back to the kind of work I adore and am blown away by how much the Adobe products have changed, even since last year! Way to rock it, Adobe!
Oh, and let's not forget Master Pages! So, awesome. :)
Thank you for such an informative video! I am self-taught in what little I know and I have been wondering what each program was specifically for. I tend to go to Photoshop because it's what I know best but I will be looking into the other programs a bit more now. I'm so glad you brought up the topic about creating web pages. I will be trying to learn more about Adobe Muse because I have a website to design. Great tips! Thanks!
Great as always, really you open my mind! Thanks
This was a great watch, thank you very much!
Great tips!! I'll def check out more of your videos. Just started writing and making soft. I feel soft softs will help get to the next

Thank you so much for this!
Great Video Terry! Thank you.
My Awesome Terry! You're exceptional - just like ID!!!
Thank you Terry, super helpful! :)
Been using all three apps since the Quark Express days. Each Adobe app was built for their specific PURPOSE... (Illustrator= vector/logo edit, Photoshop= bitmap/image edit, Indesign=Layouts combining vector/bitmap images) and if you use it for what it was made for, then you are using the apps in the most efficient way for your projects.
TNice tutorials is one of the best intro soft softs I've ever seen. The entire basic worksoftow with no B.S.!
Great speaker, very helpful and thanks.

Thanks, very useful topic. I have suggestion for tutorial about vector drawing in photoshop for those who doesn't have or use illustrator.
Saso Goricar sir we can use smart objects in photoshop. so what is the difference between photoshop and illustrator? Any specific and useful difference in which Illustrator can be useful?
thank you Terry!
So useful. Subscribed.
Hi Terry. So glad I found your video. After having projects abandoned by graphic artists I figured I learn enough to do my own infographics, thumbnails and yes maybe layout a booklet. I’ve been overwhelmed while taking an online class with these programs. I have the entire suite so let’s add Lightroom to the bunch.
Here is my question. Since Indesign is the place to bring it all together should I do my RUclips thumbnail text here? I’ve notice the text doesn’t look crisp on my thumbnails. Thanks for the help.
help to get the basics and I'll jus move from there. Thank you!
drums softing good start learning how to make your own lodies. Good luck bro!
Nice, thx
Good live thanks
I am an absolute novice with not only Adobe, but graphic design entirely. Paper and canvas is my comfort zone. This video was conveyed so well! Thank you so much!
I find Photoshop artboards invaluable for putting together Internet banners. The speed, the ease of use and the amazing export process saves me a lot of time.
Thank you.
great Terry!
I think that for a two ~ three pages document, Illustrator is not like a nightmare to use, it can be easily done manually, but if you require a 10 ~ 100 pages, InDesign seems the right one as I'm learning today. Photoshop is definitely not good for page layout, as you point out. Thanks for the instructional!
Thanks Bruh!
Nice tutorial
Thank you
Great and brief explanation for the +adobecreativecloud, Terry! What about Comics? What if I draw in PS, add letters in AI?
Should I go with separated psd files for each page? Or should I somehow include InDesign in my workflow.
The problem these days is that panels layout is much more dynamic than it used to be... So what would you advice me to adapt as my workflow for this particular scenario?
Thanks
Terry, could you please do a video on the different types of graphics that match the various job descriptions posted on job websites? Like when it says: "production" what does that mean? I am only familiar with Branding and Logo design, so I know what those jobs entail, but when it says: "production or package" design, I don't really know what they mean in their day to day things to do, and what to learn to be able to apply for those jobs too. Thank you.
Thanks.
great very informative
Hey Terry, Hi from the UK

Which application or program are you using for your broadcasts. I get a kick out of the way I can see you at the bottom, the way you can toggle your background or view, etc?
hello, thank you for your amazing videos. I am a beginner.
I do I store my finished projects Ai and Ps in the Library, to be used later on Id? Thank you very much!
I have CC 2017 Window
how do I store....
I haven't done illustrator since probably 2006. Still messing with photoshop cs3 and never got into indesign because back then I was so into photography. Now, I want to move back into graphic arts but do I need to forget my software CS3 and just move into CC?
This kind of page layout can be done illustrator similarly. Indesign needs some more photoediting tools to have a better stand than illustrator.
project a lot because I've been working on other stuff (and being lazy lol). Also, I had been facing a recurring problem of content dropouts in
kind of well I used the soft roll to make softs I thought it was just more effective

for Indesign, what is best size / format/ units/ resolution / for making slides, boards for video?
I need slides for a 1920 X 1080 video and have no clue how to set that up w/ indesign
thanks for the info really helped alot. i rather learn about tNice tutorials than school
sir we can use smart objects in photoshop. so what is the difference between photoshop and illustrator? Any specific and useful difference in which Illustrator can be useful?
The only problem is, we photographers who have the Adobe Photographer's Package, probably make do, rather than paying for the full creative suite just for occasional use. I'd love to occasionally use Premier Pro, but opt instead to use other video editing software due to the cost.
So if you'd like a request, how about doing basic Video Editing in Photoshop? :-)
The thing is you actually can do some basic video editing in photoshop. You can even do 3D, you can do vector graphics, or even animations for gifs/mp4. All that while using smart objects, layer effects and adjustments and so on.
Video and 3D stutter if you're on an Intel onboard GPU (especially on Hi-res displays) but it can help for one 3D object with lightning or a video trim + color balance.
Still, Photoshop won't do print multi-layouts, advanced vector shapes/illustrators unless you're minimalist, big print documents or any useful/relevant PDF export.
Almost fell asleep wNice tutorialle listening to Nice tutorials voice
When I first started I could import samples but now everti I do so it just gives the soft 1. I want to cut, stretch and edit the
version fine? Also are the extra plug-ins worth the extra $100?
I hope you get what you're looking for!
I thought it was a hoax, but everything works!
Nice im starting to make so simple soft soft how about you?
"And I see people doing page layout in Photoshop and Illustrator every day..... and I just.......................... have a moment of silence for them". Bust myself laughing at this.... hahahaha :P
I really thought I was the only one. Like I was buggin'.
30:30, i love your quote about "i see people everyday using photoshop and illustrator to do page layout... and i just pause, and have a moment of silence for them..." hilarious. When will people get that InDesign is the bees knees when it comes to layout! people are funny.
Don't overlook Adobe's strategy of selling you more products. People do everything in Photoshop because: 1. They can can; and 2. Because they don't need to rent 2 extra apps.
Hello Terry, I would like to ask how you became an Adobe evangelist. This would be very helpful information for me. Thank you!
