Hey David, I finally pushed my resistance and am now falling in love with MainWP. Thank you so much -- your videos were like a continual reminder to check it out :) Just curious - it says in the MainWP documentation for Pro Reports: "Can be run simultaneously with the original Client Reports Extension." Do you any idea why you would want to do that? I've just installed the Pro Reports extension and have been setting up monthly reports all day as I added sites to MainWP. But this comment in the documentation has me a little confused. Don't you only need Client Reports OR Pro Reports? Do I need Client Reports Extension for Pro Reports to work?
Oh that's great to hear. I see what you mean. It made me pause, but they are two independent extensions so you could use both if you wish or just one or the other. Perhaps you run some one off report that are email only. You could use the old client report for that and have your regular (maybe automatic) monthly Pro Report that attaches a pdf. It has got me thinking more about what I might use and how.
@@DavidWaumsley I really appreciate the easy of use with the pro reports -- just set which data you want to include and not have to mess with the shortcodes. However, I'm probably gonna have to do a custom template to make the reports a little "prettier" once I get all my sites migrated over!
@@yaelreinhardt-matsliah7960 I have been messing about with templates, but I have got stuck with fonts on headers. Waiting for them to get back to me. I will share what I have learned - although I suspect most will be ahead of me.
you all probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
HI David, so I think I'm finally ready to make the MainWP move after seeing the new client reports. Thanks so much for doing this! Sort of off topic but curious -- do you put the MainWP install on a dedicate small DO server on Cloudways or on a server with other client sites?
Hi Yael. I did not think too much about this, but as it was a sub-domain install of my business site I just set it up on the same server. It's also the same server I have most of my larger client sites too. I could have split it. Perhaps it may have been better for resource used, but I suspect the Main WP install does not take up much. The updating of a lot of sites at the same time too seems OK in this case. It is one to watch if the resources are tight. I plan soon to put more plugins on auto update to see if that spreads out the use of resources I have just been playing about with making my own templates. Quite easy to tweak theirs so I will try to do a video on that. Maybe one later too with a complete redesign.
Thanks again David. Do you have any suggestions for if you wanted to make a special note for each individual client in the report for that specific month? I may have overlooked it.
@@macmeister It sounds like a good request. I think I would use it. They have opened up their community forum now. I could be worth mentioning it there
@Brett Coleman. This is probably not what you had in mind, but this was the sort of hack I though off: meta.mainwp.com/t/custom-notes-for-individual-clients-in-reports/247?u=waumsley
Hey David, this video finally convinced me to go all-in on MainWP, but unfortunately, when I use the Coupon Code it says: "Coupon "digitalfreedoms" does not exist!" Any chance you can work your magic and on getting the offer extended?
I'm pretty sure that the old system just sends out emails and you have to get into all the html of setting out the layout. It's a bit of a chore. This new system seems much better with .pdf's.
Hi Nathan. Thanks for looking in. I am petty sure the is the only way with the original client reports too. I probably sounded doubtful as am never sure what modifications folks have done. I like that there is both. I wonder with my average busy client whether there is more or less chance of them seeing the content.
Hi David. Another awesome video. I've been on ManageWP for many years, but as you know they have had (and still has) some mayor problems with backups, trustability etc, so I'm definitely looking at alternatives. This video may be the reason for me to join the MainWP road, so thanks a lot! But I have a question about hosting. As far as I can see you host your MainWP on the same domain as your public agency site, right? Is that because you then are able to use @wpcornershop.com as your sender address? For my part I might choose to host MainWP on a separate domain (at Kinsta), so I don't mix things up. What's your say on that?
Thanks Torben. Yes you are right. I can't see why you would have a problem with separate domains. It might be better for server resources used when updating. I have mine there out of lack of imagination. I'm using Digital Ocean and use to Mailgun to send the email from the server. Mailgun suggests using an email that is a domain matches, but certainly it seems to works if you don't. Honestly, I have not thought about it . I'll come back to you if a think of anything more clever.
@@DavidWaumsley I have spoken to the kind supporters at Kinsta, and they suggest that I install MainWP on a subdomain to my main domain (like you). At Kinsta a subdomain still counts as a separate site, so it will have its own resources etc. As a bonus, it will also automatically use SendGrid for sending client report as this is built-in at Kinsta (to a certain limit of course). I can hardly wait to become a full-blown MainWPtusiast :-)
Ah yes, I forget to say my sub domain is a separate install and not part of a WP multisite. I could have put it on another server if I had wanted to and still would have had no issues with sending email from the domain name. The significance of your question is only just dawning on me!!! Anyway. pleased you got advice and welcome to the club.

Hi Brett. That's an interesting question. I don't know of a way because I have not tried... but challenge accepted :-)
It’s helpful to know that I didn’t overlook it. Thanks for the input. No need to work a hack that may be a part of the plugin later. Thx!
