    The VidaXL bike trailer costs much less than a BOB Yak trailer does. But is it junk? It's biggest shortcoming seems to be the way it attaches to the bike. See the modification I made to improve that problem.
    Note: If you decide to buy this trailer and make any modifications to it, you do so at your own risk. I am in no way responsible for anyone who copies the modifications that I made to this trailer. I am posting this merely to show you what I did on my own trailer and offer no guarantees that it will work as intended.

    I found a BOB Yak on eBay for $40. Glad i bought it. I ride Catrike Dumont. Too many health rick with a 2 wheeler. No more back, neck, wrist, shoulder pains and especially no more Bruising between the legs, also no worry about balance issues anymore. I can lay back and enjoy my ride.

    The "funny things" go on the inside of the trailer fork facing out according to a picture I found of a trailer that looks the same on walmart. The walmart trailer looks like the fork is longer than what you have, which is what I need for my bicycle (700x32). Also, walmart wants more for the trailer, though I am not absolutely certain it is the same model. Thank you for your great video.

      Thanks Earth Man - yes I tried putting those "funny things" in both directions and had trouble with them either way. The spokes I fashioned for it worked much better, but unfortunately my dog didn't like riding in the thing. So now it is sitting in a shed until I decide whether or not I want to use it for touring. Thanks for your comment.

    I live in the apartment life so I am going to be thinking about a bike trailer that collapse down and you can put it underneath your bed or in the closet out of the way when you're not using it and it only takes one side to fix it on your bike frame and then if you don't want to use it you can unhook it and leave it in your apartment and I have a pretty good idea of what trailer I'm going to get for my regular bike in case if I have to haul my cans to the recyclable place that way I don't have to rely on anybody to take me but I will have to do that this winter time is around the corner still I will have someone take me the right now I don't have the cargo trailer for my bike yet but when I do get one it's going to fold up three to slide it under your bed or slide in the corner where it's out of the way and the wheels they come off really thank you put them on real easy this trailer that I'm watching the video of I would think about a different trailer is this is too complicated to put together and hook it up to your bike so my advice is to people that are reading this get you one that folds up that you keep in your apartment if you live in the apartment life if you live in that house and you got plenty room and you got a garage then you keep it all together without taking it apart but in the meantime have a blessed day

    I have one of these. They had to send me a replacement fork for it, cos it bent. I used it to bring my kids' schoolbags to school when they were smaller. It just about fit 3 small schoolbags and it tracked well through the narrow entrance to the park near their school. I wouldn't trust it for anything heavy or for use on long distance, it's just not good enough quality for that kind of trip. I have a much sturdier trailer for bigger loads.

      Thanks for the advice, I was thinking of buying it for bicycle touring and this is convincing me otherwise. Does it rattle or seem like it's flimsy and would break?

    • @jimbobeire
      @jimbobeire Год назад

      @@pedroclaro7822 rattles a little bit, but you can tighten it up and use plastic shims. I wouldn't go over the recommended weight for it, and I wouldn't be eager to take it off road or onto any roads with pot holes. So, really depends on what the surface is like where you're going. If you're going someplace that's as smooth as a Dutch bike lane, it's fine so long as you don't overload it.

    Hi. Is this trailer strong? Is it still working? What resistance does it have with time and wear?

    • @MTMiser
      @MTMiser  4 года назад +2

      Let me put it this way - for hauling my 15 pound dog around, it's plenty strong enough. But although it says it's rated to carry 65 pounds, I would never trust it with that much weight. The design just doesn't look strong enough to me. It's got those two forks that connect to that central pivoting column with a couple of welds holding it in place and nothing else. If you look at a Bob Yak and see the kind of bracing it has in that area, there is no comparison. So I would probably trust it riding around home with my 15 pound dog without much concern, but I'd never load it up with 50+ pounds of gear and go on a cross country tour with it, unless I added some bracing to it.
      As far as time and wear, I can't answer that question. Unfortunately my dog did not like riding in it so it now sits in storage. In the future I may do a tour with it, but would only be carrying about 25 pounds of gear. For that I think it would be fine.

      @@MTMiser wirst was the midle conection. The metal was to soft it bent and broke. Had custom made new. And that happened after 240 km. Then the joint system broke apart cos of por weight distribution it always ends up in the midle were is the joints. We fixed that cos we was travelling in middle mountain. After that it was beyond repair. Wheels lasted les than 400 km so not the best option better add couple dollars and get proper one

    From personal experience I would not carry more than 1/2 the max load on these cheap Chinese trailers. On one I bought, I could not even carry more than a feather pillow before I modified it (t was a disaster and significant personal safety risk till I modified it). Unless you are a competent DIY person, better to pay the $400 for quality trailer.

      Lol. Anger issues? Don't know what you call them across the pond but here in the U.S. they are indeed called skewers. Note - there is a difference between a skewer and an axle. The axle is the hollow tube that the skewer goes through. Oh - and "hack" is an appropriate word as well, unless you're still living in the last century.
