    Great video. If the saw starts and cuts, its a winner.

      Thanks...wise words indeed! I noticed how some saws need a little bit of adjustment to run in winter as opposed to mid 30's Centigrade in Summer. I usually take a couple of saws with me if I go any distance in case one will not start, not good to field strip a saw when it gets down below -20C! Thanks for your continued support of my Channel, WS

      Thanks. Yes, that saw is very well constructed and hs high compression, it will run many years with TLC. I have a big Homelite Model C9, also made by Terry Texron, it doesn;t run, but I hope to fix it one day. WALTERS Axes, a great Canadian Forge in its day, the founder came from England back in the 19th or early 20th Century, I believe. I have a Walters 'Boys Axe' I enjoy using it. A great story about your dad's axe, I still have my dad's 4lb Gilpin Axe with Mohogany shaft he made. Happy 2020, I hope it is a good year for you, WS

    Hard to beat an old convex cheeked axe for splitting

    • @redcanoe14
      @redcanoe14  4 года назад +1

      Hi Ben, yes, for its weight it is good at splitting; not really worth pulling out any of my mauls (3lb, 6lb or 8lb). The shaft is just about optimum for me as well. Happy New Year for 2020!

    It's good to see a new video from you Chris. I heard some ravens in the background but never realised you had them there in BC.

      Thanks for dropping by, yes, Ravens tend to be up here all winter along with Chickadees, Jays, Nuthatches, owls and occasional flocks of Snow Buntings and finches.

    Full wrap bar, too. Nice older saw. I never tire of watching someone split wood.

      Thanks for dropping by Jeffrey, always good to hear from someone from Buckin's Channel. Yes, that Homelite is a nice running saw, lots of power and sounds great.
      I have a Jonsered 90 that is not oiling, I am trying to get a 'new' oil pump for it. It is a beast of a saw with lots of torque, if I get it going I will put it in one of my videos. I have a Pioneer Western (68cc), Jonsered 621(56cc), a Homelite C9/ or 2000 (is plated as a 2000 which is a 115cc saw, though C( is supposed to be a 90cc saw), this saw is a non runner at the moment. My big passion is axes though, I don't have as many as Buckin' ...LOL! ...maybe 50 I have restored in my shed at moment, the first axe I repaired was about 45 or 50 years ago. In Kindness, WS

      @@redcanoe14 It just occurred to me, if you need help on Jonsered saws Bayoucountrypowersaws on RUclips is pretty much the authority. He should be able to assist. I don't have his email but it may be listed on vids.

    Great to see you again! I love the sound of that old saw, very different then the new saws.

    • @redcanoe14
      @redcanoe14  4 года назад +1

      Thanks so much! Yes, the old saws don't scream like the new ones, though they are very loud, slow revving and often more torque (should wear ear defenders). On my next vid the Sachs Dolmar saw sounds amazing, but is also loud. With the old saws be aware they have less safety features. I hope all is well with you guys and your quest for a rural property.

      Thank you so much for the reply. I have a song that uses your chainsaw, I knew I had heard it before here’s the name of the song, I think you might be able to use the song in your video, I can’t post links but you can search it in google Jackyl - The Lumberjack (Official Video) it a chain saw song and it’s the best sounding chain saw in the world as far as I’m concerned! we are as well as can be given that a family member is in hospice care, and yes our quest continues. Mom says not to bother finding a place with a log cabin, saying it’s to much work. God Bless her.

      @@FawnandEvon Interesting, I will check them out. Good Luck in your quest for a dream property, my advice, based on our experience, is there is no such thing as a perfect property. Yes, when you first visit a property for sale you may fall in love and have a vision of what it will be like to live there. By the nature of the rural property, there are always going to be unforseen challenges ( we have looked at many, many properties) once you move onto the new property be prepared for future challenges not anticipated. The key element is to be very tenacious and be able to roll up your sleeves and work hard. Of course, if you are very rich, you may be able to find a place where all the work has been done, but I suspect that you are looking for something in the order of a 'blank slate' that you can develop to your own specific needs. I have seen more than a few people who dream of 'rural living' but when they realize what work is involved decide it is not for them. Please feel welcome to ask me any questions about rural properties you are looking at and I will be happy to share my experience....such as it is...LOL! God Bless your Mother. Happy New Year for 2020, WS.

      Awesome thank you, we are entertaining bare land and some with a build on it already, we would need to sell our place first and hope we don’t regret it. We are your average middle class, with some toys saved from our youth. I bought a quad simply by doing my own hair, buying cloths from second hand and we don’t smoke and drinking is minimal. So lots of money saved by being thrifty.
