when getting an exotic or even legendary felt rewarding. Now its like popping candy theres no hit to it like back then. Those things that Xur use to sell for a CHANCE at an exotic drop the more you used were even exciting. I remember getting Twilight after farming like 2 days on the same boss using 1 at a time. it felt rewarding as hell. Now I just run a single lost sector and get the drop 100% for the new stuff theres no fun. I'd rather grind a boss, do strikes or ANYTHING else than a lost sector. and its low key unrewarding being able to get it right then and there.
rose coloured glasses man, destiny 2 way better, but DI felt better because you were younger, had more friends, had less responsibilities, didnt have to pay bills, etc.
And one of the worst maps in the game. It felt like they had some WQ assets and were like “oh yeah, we were supposed to give pvp players something, just search through the garbage can of scrapped assets and put together something”
I remember when they shut down trials of the nine they said they were going to rebuild it and make it better, just so they could bring back trials of osiris.
I honestly believe good loot should be HARD to get. Yeah it goes down to RNG, but people who actually play the game have the best chances of earning them. I'm not a fan of crafting or exotic/perk focusing anymore either. Not because everybody can get good rolls, but because it trivialized the grind. Also, power levels were great to grind. Yeah it held people back from some activities, but how SATISFYING it used to be to hit the ceiling finally, and how good it felt to finally upgrade a weapon 20 levels up suddenly. We need to return to "rare item is rare" and "make number go bigger"
@Devmode_Nunchaku most of those ppl have changed what they like about the grind. Sure you can make the good loot rare but if that item isn't good im wasting my time. Imagine if gjallarhorn was the worst rocket in the game for how rare it was? No one would go for it. The problem is alot of yall put too much emphasis on the grind and not the end result from it. I wanna make fun builds with good loot. If I'm dropping 10 hours for a god roll to then find out it isn't what my build needs or another roll is better on another gun for that build I just wasted time. Then let's throw in weapons having deep perk pools and have fomo. 😂 no thanks I'd rather craft weapons at that point. There's a reason why games like monster hunter, warframe, FF14O are doing really well. There's either things to mitigate rng a good amount in those games or the grind to make builds is way shorter. And oh yea two of those games have trading😂😂
thats why you always have to treasure each moment when you play an mmo at launch because it might never be the same or if it gets better you lost nothing yaknow.
I wish I could go back, man. The loot chase, the G-horn excitement, and that feel of wanting to know what's out their in "the wild". But it obviously wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
Nothin'll ever beat the feelin of gettin an exotic from the gorgon chest, so many good memories from D1. It wasn't a perfect game but even in its flaws and heartbreaks it's a game I'll fondly remember forever.
I miss the distinct style D1 had, and tysm for showing just how big of a difference between the two games bc I just couldn’t quite place it for so long, but being able to just summon up exotics and legendaries like they’re nothing makes it all feel less meaningful. awesome video
Definitely the thing I remember more from D1 was the near-complete lack of familiarity I had with it in the beginning. I picked vanilla D1 on day 1. I hadn’t followed the game’s development at all. All I knew is that it was going to be some kinda new FPS and that Bungie was developing it. With how much I enjoyed Halo, that was enough for me to get it. I was just THAT confident in Bungie as a studio… lol. Anyway I remember just running around in-game. A lot of people talk about a “sense of mystery Destiny used to have” and I feel like for me that went deeper cause I really was in the dark about most things. I didn’t know what exotics were or what to do with strange coins (definitely not buying that one rocket launcher!) etc etc. I remember running into a titan with Helm of Innmost Light and thinking how cool it looked…. And I was subsequently bummed to find out it was a titan-exclusive exotic haha (I had stuck with warlock for the longest time, still my “main” to this day).
As much as I liked Destiny back then compared to now, it had very similar problems. If you didn't play constantly you'd be out of the loop within 3 months.

Although that is true... In my personal opinion I really dig waiting some time before getting into another expansion. If you watch closely almost every expansion or dlc content was a whole new content level. The only one I might say was kinda bad was some general activities from those DLCs, and House of Wolves. I'd rather pay like 60$ per expansion like TTK every year, rather than paying 50$ on dungeon keys and seasonal activities every 3 months.
@SoggyFrenchFries273 Exactly, no point in being a super active game if a lot of people don't play it regularly. I really don't mind waiting a lot of time between dlc, it builds expatations and gives time to focus on the next one. Back in the day I didn't really feel the "content drough". It gave time for everyone to reach the power cap and enjoy every activity. Not everybody plays every day, and shouldn't be forced to play. There are other things in life and other games. But that's my opinion..
Back in d1 things felt new and exciting. The exotics felt unique (even though the perks were simple) you felt special everytime you got an exotic. And the exotic quests were unique too
I've played Destiny since D1 launch, i bought a PS4 pro(because Target had one, and i had money to burn that pay check, so why not) to replace my dead launch PS4 for rise of iron. you nailed this whole video, words that i cant describe have finally been found, especially the Warframe bit at 4:50.
Lmao!! When Destiny dropped the amount of team work that people gravitated towards was actually really inspiring. All that went away though. I don't talk to any of the people I raided with back then.
Something I’ve always wanted was a single player raid like experience that truly tests your skill, game knowledge and equipment. Something with the length of a raid built for one person that changes slightly every time you do it. With “exotics” being more common than commons they should’ve added a mythic tier long ago. A truly difficult challenge that tests only your skills and removes the ability to piggyback off others would be an amazing place to put such truly amazing gear. Sadly they will never add this because off all the plushies in the community.
The art style and armor looked better in D1, the weapons felt more original. I love that we actually have the game on PC, the story is way better and having mods etc is awesome. But there is still some key parts missing
I like how you shed light on the good and bad of both games, even if D2 has more bad. Banger vid bro. Now excuse me as I hop on back on THE FINALS/Celeste

Everyone "We want strike specific loot!!" D2: "Guys we are here to bring you... new super short story content!! Now wait a few weeks for the next part of the story! Oh and 3 "new" onslaught maps!"
That loot analogy at the start of this is just correct, especially these days. Prismatic makes the need for weapons basically irrelevant, I could run around with whites and so long as I had a light and a dark I could clear 99% of content in the game. Makes the desire for any loot in the future kinda moot, why care about the new gun that just dropped when it's going STRAIGHT in my 650/700 vault and never getting used unless it has Demo + Pugilst on it or some combo with 'this gun is just another ability after it kills something'. At least D1 got to go out on a high note too, even with it's issues (will forever stare at the sword PvP grind), D2's got to hit it's finish line but now is getting dragged through the mud because the studio heads had no idea how to manage a company. Just...so unfortunate. Do appreciate the few moments of pointing out the good things, there wasn't much, but at least rahool likes us now!
I just pretend I’m playing Destiny 1 when playing Destiny 2. Don’t use crafting. Don’t use the stupid ass gear that does not look like it belongs in the game at all. Focus on the gun play instead of the over powered ability spamming. It feels good honestly, and I think people should give it a try.
7-8k hours in Destiny. 0 hours played in the past 2 weeks. 7 hours in the past 2 months. And 250 in the last year (mostly bounty prepping and practicing with the raid team for a day 1 raid that I had to drop out of early because I caught viral bronchitis 2 days before TFS dropped). I miss "the old days" but the days I miss the most are between beyond light and lightfall where I actually had friends to play with. They're the only reason I've really played at all in the past year.
I miss weapons like Grasp of Malok that could roll with hive/fallen/taken type damage enhancements Semi related - remember farming yellow bar cabal on mars at the beginning of the mars mission after blasting the wall down 😂
personal hot take, I like the "don't have time to explain" line, played it when i was kid but always liked that line and still do. I always saw her as way more mysterious back then, and i liked that aspect about her. Especially with the way she just teleports out after like 30 seconds. I never had a problem with it but that's just me I guess. On the trials note I don't play any other pvp in destiny cause the matchmaking is so bad, in trials, for me personally, its mostly fair fights with some bad ones here and there but i solo queue and go flawless 90% of the weekends i play. lastly for anyone who cares I believe d1 was better in every aspect of the game besides story, it was a different time back then and I wish I could go back just to experience the good times and hang out with the best of people again, ggs, ya'll have a good one

D1 had a ton of foundational work done by the Bungie OGs that did Halo. They were mostly removed by the time D1 launched.

I still Remember my very First Exotic, Ice Breaker from PvP
I thought i liked D1 out of pure nostalgia. Until i saw the 6000+ hours i had on that game vs the 4000+ i have on D2. D1 really hit different
Brother that was perfect ✌️
…I still play that shit.
The purple engrams giving blue gear brought back old trauma 😂
This is the best one yet 😅😂😂
I just pretend I’m playing Destiny 1 when playing Destiny 2. Don’t use crafting. Don’t use the stupid ass gear that does not look like it belongs in the game at all. Focus on the gun play instead of the over powered ability spamming. It feels good honestly, and I think people should give it a try.
Fuuuuk no
i too use the " Ive got everything from this raid crafted already i got no reason to play it at all." line as well.
AHH the trials one got me XD
a nice video about the status of Bungie/Destiny
7-8k hours in Destiny. 0 hours played in the past 2 weeks. 7 hours in the past 2 months. And 250 in the last year (mostly bounty prepping and practicing with the raid team for a day 1 raid that I had to drop out of early because I caught viral bronchitis 2 days before TFS dropped). I miss "the old days" but the days I miss the most are between beyond light and lightfall where I actually had friends to play with. They're the only reason I've really played at all in the past year.
I miss weapons like Grasp of Malok that could roll with hive/fallen/taken type damage enhancements
Semi related - remember farming yellow bar cabal on mars at the beginning of the mars mission after blasting the wall down 😂
A truer video has never existed. I dont even know if that's a word.
personal hot take, I like the "don't have time to explain" line, played it when i was kid but always liked that line and still do.
NEED A PART 2 !
The taniks bit lmao. Should’ve saw it coming after the first half
