Again Ben writes a song that articulates the things we feel but don't quite know how to say for ourselves. Thanks friend.
When I first heard this last year, I thought it was a perfect cap to the year that was 2020. But with my husband suffering a stroke this spring at the age of 43 and all the struggles and changes we have had to adapt to along with our young children, this songs hits even closer to home and helps give me hope for the new year. Thank you, Ben. I can’t wait to fall in love with the orchestra version.
For a graduate, this is such a beautifully timed song. Thank you and God bless you Ben. This reminds me of a Bible verse: "His anger may last a moment, but His favour lasts a lifetime' weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning" (Psalm 30:5). With our eyes fixed on the Lord, He will guide us through to brighter days.

As an (aspiring, amateur) artist trying my hand at this whole creative vocation thing, and a graduate last year, it’s been absolutely fantastic to hear a little of the “behind the scenes” of this song. I love the way that Ben Rector can take such a simple feeling, and paint with lyric and melody a stunning masterpiece with each song; this is no exception. An instant favorite, once again.

I heard this for the first time on KLOVE about 4 days ago. It is sort of a modern 'Auld Lang Syne'. It has a lot of meaning to me this year since 2022 will be a year of 'New Beginnings' for me.

I have to move away from the only home I’ve ever known in just a couple weeks. I dread leaving my friends, and the amazing people I get to work with. This is helping me to look forward to the day I return.

When I heard this at the end of 2020, it perfectly articulated what I felt, coming out of a pandemic, losing most of my friends, moving across the country, and looking ahead to greener pastures. Now, at the end of 2021, it hits closer to home, now having been living without much hope for the greater half of the year, and having gone through so much on my own. Thank you Ben, this song is medicine for the soul!
