- The squeegeeing phenomenon is not new. In fact, squeegeeing first hit the streets of Baltimore in the 80s.
But in recent years, there has been a shift in how people view the workers, from young people trying to make a living to criminals.
“It was difficult at first. I started in 2022, and that was a time where he knows the squeegeeing topic was heightened because of the incident that occurred between a motorist and a squeegee worker. So it was difficult when I first came out with the camera a lot of the guys didn’t want to be filmed," says Matthew Cooper, filmmaker.
It's one of the reasons why Matthew Cooper took on the task of directing the documentary.
He wanted to show a side to squeegee workers that most people don’t see.

The parents are financially responsible for youth squeegee workers so they should be held accountable as well for there child being on a coner squeegeeing a car window. The problem is that some of these squeegee kids are just disrespectful and not accepting of drivers telling them no. In my opinion, none of them suffer from poverty, and they come from good homes they just like squeegeeing to have extra money. Ivan bates has done a remarkable job on handling the squeegee kids issue. I give them no excuse. Life is tough for everyone. Everybody is not gonna be a millionaire and taste this, so call the American dream. You just have to be a law-abiding citizen with respect and integrity and have the desire to reach your goal. Squeegee kids just need a positive role model to show them the amazing opportunity out here for them.
Misunderstood lmfao
