Actually, the Bill that was passed did NOT include any pay raise for Congress. So, you don't know what you are talking about there. I am on Social Security and have been for over 10 years now. Other than one year, I have received a COLA. Some were very minor, but some were pretty good. Congress has NOT received a pay increase since 2009. Personally, I believe they make plenty for the job they do, but to equate the income of someone on Social Security with that of someone who is working is just plain silly. There are plenty of folks that have a pretty good income on Social Security, and some of us do not. Unfortunately, that is how it works. Those who had the highest incomes when they were working, get the highest amount when they go on SS. Those of us who had lower incomes, get lower amounts. Is that fair? I don't know, but I do know that you are comparing apples with automobiles in your comparison. AND, you are claiming something that did NOT occur, occurred, as in a raise for members of Congress. I am on Social Security and have been for over 10 years now. Other than one year, I have received a COLA. Some were very minor, but some were pretty good. Congress has NOT received a pay increase since 2009.
Personally, I believe they make plenty for the job they do, but to equate the income of someone on Social Security with that of someone who is working is just plain silly.
There are plenty of folks that have a pretty good income on Social Security, and some of us do not.
Unfortunately, that is how it works. Those who had the highest incomes when they were working, get the highest amount when they go on SS.
Those of us who had lower incomes, get lower amounts.
