Lee Haney was just so phenomenal. That man was the women's favorite, especially in my group in the San Francisco Bay Area. God bless you Lee and you too Arnold!!
I like how everyone thinks that training and diet have changed so dramatically over time. No. The basics have always been there. Compound movements, lots of quality food, get stronger. The only thing that has changed over time is the quality and quantity of drug use.
Dude Dude they were pharmaceutical grade. now its all underground labs. Real D-bol was outlawed. Now its labs i never heard of. Kinda dangerous dontcha think ?
Daveyboy, first of all, the pros have access to real shit or close enough to it. Second, back then they only used test, dbol, and deca. These days there are a lot more drugs available (like tren, which is the king of steroids). Also, today they have HGH, slin, and IGF1, which are frankly insane and take a physique to the next level.
@@satan4o there was more than just dbol deca and test, were u even alive in the 80's ? Cause u wouldn't make such a general statement if u were. and again , the shit back then was pharmaceutical grade . Or from a vet. nowadays u ll get shit, u dont know where or who made it. Dangerous.
Man that's cool, Arnold and Lee together. Here's a man who beat his record and Arnold is excited. The sport started with the right man, Arnold, and Lee was a fantastic follow up to him. For two men who are pumping iron and pulsation testosterone, they are humble. For Arnold a simple fact, no matter what era he was in, Arnold would have done whatever he could to win. So no matter the mid 80's, 90's, 2000's or 2010's, Arnold would have given any one of these guys a run for their money, because of his drive. However, they all have had their Era's. Arnold, Lee, Ronnie and now, like it or not, Phil. It's impossible to say who would have won after the fact with new training, new nutritional knowledge and of course new drugs. Any one of these champions would have striven to do their best. My personal opinion is Arnold was very gifted with genetics. Wrap that with his fantastic charisma and undeniable drive. As I know the most about him, I'd say, he'd have been Mr. Olympia in any of the era's, because he'd simply have the drive to push as hard as he could against the competition. Had Arnold continued to compete in his time, record shows he'd have only won more and more. Arnold probably could have won 10 to 11 Mr. Olympia's if he'd continued. However, he chose Hollywood over bodybuilding, for reasons pointed out, Mr. Olympia was only bringing in $1000 a win maybe. Had it been what it is today, he most likely would have continued to go forward. Regardless, the respect shown between the two here is great. Arnold admits he was lucky not to compete against Lee and Lee respects Arnold for what he has done for the sport. Truly two of the greatest.
People here seem to forget that Arnold wasnt just a pro bodybuilder like nowadays who only trains, eats and sleeps for the sport. Arnold trained 5hours a day, worked in construction, went to school and acting classes in the evening up to 12pm, slept only 6 hours just to do the same over again and he was also busy in real estate. Thats a whole different life than the bodybuilders later whoms jobs were being a bodybuilder. Put Arnold in the 90's with that knowledge of nutrition, the importance of sleep (6 hours is way to little for how hard he trained), and the much stronger drugs and you'll get a whole different Arnold. Way bigger and way better conditioned. Combine that with his height advantage and he'd dwarf everyone even dorian yates on the stage. I mean look how much bigger a 43year old lou ferrigno got coming back compared to his 70's years. Imagine a young Arnold, who trained way harder with much better promise in the 90's. He would be insane
Arnold 74' would have been hard to beat. Picture comparisons between the 2 show almost similar physiques except for Arnold's huge rib cage and chest that appear as though you could place a cup of water on top of Arnold's flexed side chest shot...
The thing about these guys, bodybuilders from that period, is that they just look healthy compared to today's guys. They never sacrificed their health, their impeccable lines and proportion in pursuit of monster size. It was a better time for sure with better physiques.
Arnold was great in his time but lee wins against Arnold if you compare them both at there peak but bring Arnold forward to Lee's time Arnold training with the then new machines and new knowledge on nutrition and chemicals and with Arnold's drive he would build a body to not just match lee but challenge lee for the Olympia and possibly win
Arnold would win. Lee had a weakness in the arms calves compared to Arnold and the nutrition training and steroid knowledge would give us a much bigger Arnold
So if Arnold didn’t retire in 75, it’s reasonable to assume he would’ve won 4 more (76-79) since he won in 1980. Competition drives performance . That’s one of the reasons Arnold retired so young, Haney too. When your winning a baseball / football game late in the game, by a wide margin, you almost always pull your best players. Not much to play for anymore at that point.
Be honest here, as much as I love Arnold, prime against prime Lee beats Arnold hand down. Now fast forward a decade or so and put Arnold in the same era as Lee maybe Arnold takes him. But there would have to be some changes in nutrition and conditioning for Arnold to be able to beat Lee.
bandit7498 understand that Arnold retired young. He could've easily dominated in the 80's and would've revolutionized bodybuilding. However, Arnold becoming a successful actor is what brought attention to bodybuilding on a national level in the first place.
Remember, Lou Ferrigno had the 70s physique then made a comeback in 1992 and had the 90s physique. Imagine how much more awesome Arnold might look then too(without pregnant gut syndrome).
@@popeye697 I do not think he could've beaten Samir, maybe Mike could've just stayed one more year to vindicate himself, so at most Arnold could have only gotten two know realistically.
@roy ratcliff Try $1000 that's what Arnold got for winning Mr Olympia. I think even with inflation $400k is a but if an improvement dont YOU???? Remember bodybuilding is nowhere as high as say Boxing or Football. So no bodybuilder is going to get 7 figure prize money from a single contest.
It's not how many Olympia titles you win. But who did you compete against. It's nice to sugar coat things. But to be upfront there is no Mr Olympia current or past better than Arnold Schwarzenegger was.
That's tough 🤔💬 both in their prime..... 🤔...I'mma go with Lee just bc of fine lines and definitely. But Arnold had thick muscular bellies 🤔 hard choice
If we are talking about a bodybuilders overall accomplishments in the sport and life in general then Arnold is untouchable. However a number of Mr Olympia's have had better, more complete physiques than Arnold.
Who? Better looking body than arnold , no fucking body, today still people look up to him to build their body like him me included , arnols body was insane , nowdays you only see short guys with overdeveloped bodies
I think Arnold had too much thickness for Haney, especially in 1974. His muscles were like slabs of concrete, very dense and thick then. If you put that version against Arnold with 1980s conditioning it would have been lights out for Haney, he would would have been out muscled.

There were so many contemporary bodybuilders who were bigger more massive etc bla bla but in the end there is the one and only Austrian oak. The rest follows.
Arnold is the only reason anyone gives 2 fuck about a freak show like bodybuilding. Without him bodybuilders would still be making $1,000 and getting laughed at. And btw he looked best that night everyone talks shit about anrold but against him who else was better in 1980; No one! They all were off that year and Arnold even at his 75% was enough to beat them. Mike meltzer threw a hissy fit but he was blocky with a huge gut. Yes, Arnold had better calves and biceps than Lee; Lee had better quads, hamstrings, back, delts, abs, traps and structure. Chest and triceps are perhaps a tie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger would beat anyone ...
What? Arnold looke like 10 times better than lee , nobody knows who is lee even though he won 8
Two legends.
The two best ever. Lee beats Arnold in almost every category except arms. Arnold had the greatest arms ever and an incredible chest.
I think no one beats him in having the best chest
I love arnold
he is so humble
That suit on Lee Haney is 🔥
2 very likeable people, im glad they didn't compete and could bother be number 1
I would pick Lee over Arnold at their peak simply because of more advance training available to Lee plus he looked more defined and had better legs.
Lee Vs Arnold would've been legendary

Number one arnold
Haney would have won a 9th had he competed in 1992. Beyond that, no way, but 1992 was still his to have won.
