That little fish and chips vendor was there in 2016 when my wife and I visited Alesund. It was run by a Nepalese man who told me he wanted to work in London as a chef. A nice guy! It seems he is doing well after all these years. My favourite town in Norway. Stayed there for five days. Only rained on one day. A miracle.
My first fish and chips experience was in Norway. It was lovely! i wanted all the time and i didn't really like fish or should i say , never really grew up on fresh fish in my family and fish can be a lil more smelly in da caribbean. I made it as often at my home at the time in Norway :) TORSK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had it in Ikea, with the peas and bearnaise............heavenly to me personally.
Love the fish and chips in Norway. Lovely town Alesund.

There are two places for fish & chips in Ålesund : Havnekjosken and Jafs by the bridge over the canal. I usually eat one portion of each when I visit.
As a Brit who loves his fish and chips I shall be trying those fish and chips next week. I have had the best but knowing the Nepalese I may be wrong!
