I'm coming back to the Church after six years of practicing Buddhism. I even had my first meeting with a Vocation Director today. You've played a role in restoring my confidence in the Church and teachings. Thank you Father.
Welcome home! The Church is more loving than men that sit beneath trees all day.
Welcome home
Welcome home :)
Welcome back home
Welcome back! From one revert to another *hugs*
Casey, I am a priest myself, aged almost 80. I was particularly impressed by your presentation today; it expressed so decisively the vision of Christ’s Gospel. I keep you in my prayer. Oremus pro invicem.
@The Unapologetic Scientist it doesn't work like that. we have no evidence that it was originally written in aramaic. you don't get to assert it and demand evidence to the contrary. that is a logical fallacy.
@The Unapologetic Scientist there are small snippets and we don't know which way was what translated. we do know jesus would have spoken aramaic. i have not seen any scholarly consensus about the original being in aramaic. we have early fragments in greek as well.
louis cyfer stop arguing with this poor fellow. I stopped reading after his first comment. He is not willing to accept Christ as his savior, he does not want forgiveness.
@@Clarkcanepa why should anyone?
@The Unapologetic Scientist You say you live as a Christian.
But everyone needs forgiveness. We are all human.
To be honest, I would not want to bump into you in life, as a Christian, because your manner seems unkind and I would be intimidated by your attitude, not by your knowledge. I do not question your evidence, opinions etc. because I am not as well educated as you.
But I know gentleness and kindness when I meet it.
I'm a Catholic revert. Covid-19 made me realize that I really missed the Church. When I started watching videos from you Fr. Casey and others I started hearing the call to come home. I went to confession at the end of last year for the first time in at least 10 years, and I haven't missed a Sunday mass since. I'm so thankful for what you do, Father Casey.
Aww you missed your weekly feel huh
Covid-19 affected me differently. It showed me that while God claims to be good and caring about all of mankind, he didn't care enough to stop this terrible plague from occurring and doing anything to help those suffering. Sure Covid-19 might make some people get close to God, but I just can't accept a God who can't design any other way to make people close to him besides the death of over a million people and shutting down the world for over a year. I'm sorry, but it just makes it clear to me that all-good God would have nothing to do with Covid-19, likely because this God doesn't exist or doesn't care about humanity.

1-Death in this mortal life is not the most important thing that God is working on or humanity’s happiness consist
2- God did not cause it God maybe allowing it for a reason .. for the hardness of our hearts ... or maybe there is no other way for some of us to see the consequences of our sins .. we don’t know exactly why
But if you want to know ask God, tell God you’re angry & ask for an answer
You’re here seeing videos, checking & answering comments... why not talk to God directly & let God know how you feel - God is big enough & can take it

@@TheSaraManal I have asked God and I did not receive a response.
1- Clearly your right, our lives mean very little to God.
2-God didn't cause viruses? How were viruses created if not from God?
I’m a new Catholic and was initially really worried about receiving the sacraments. Is my faith enough? Am I worthy? Little did I realize, the sacraments help grow your faith. My faith grew so much within a small time frame. And as for the “am I worthy?” question....the answer is no, but I think that’s the point.
God bless everyone 🙏
Beautifully said, and WELCOME HOME!

@@jamesparson The Church Jesus founded will always have it's Judas. Judas was 1 of 12 or 8%.
The number of worldwide clergy that failed is that or less. The devil was given extra power to take souls in the Church in the 20th century era.
He has done well. Jesus gave him the power to also separate the wheat from the shaf. Too many have failed the test. Not only clergy who are going to hell without confession and change and penance; but all the lay people who have fallen away from Jesus Body Blood Soul and Divinity, Jesus' gift of Love to us. A gift beyond price. To leave Jesus because a priest in your or another parish succumbed to Satan is a special kind of self immolation. Yes the priest will suffer more for helping drag you to hell, but you are finally responsible for your soul. There will always be a remnant of Jesus' Church, no matter how corrupt the world and some church clergy destroy the natural and Bride of Christ's law.
Pray for the conversion of sinners and of Russia.
Hi Sky! Do you ever wonder why so many of us take an interest in those considering the Catholic faith and newly converted Catholics? Is it because we love to see you become fully integrated into Jesus' Church and grow closer to him? That's certainly the essential part of it and the core of the great commission! But honestly, it sure helps a lot that you help us look at the faith through fresh eyes and see with wonder anew the beauty of all the grace that God chooses to offer us. Great running into you again as always!

This is phenomenal. As a Catholic living in a particularly privileged part of the world, I *greatly* appreciate your care to not make those in less privileged areas feel bad for not being reasonably able to engage in our Church. I'm waiting on my second dose, but I think it's time I come back.
Even the first dose will protect you from suffering hospitalisation or death if you do catch it. The second dose will just further diminish your chance of getting it at all. And you will be less likely to pass it on too. Go back if you can with a clear conscience but still be as reasonably careful as you can.
No one should be taking the vaccine. The whole pandemic is a scam.
I'm not christian in the slightest but damn you're nice to listen to.

I saw this come up in my feed when it was uploaded and didn't watch it because I know a Catholic was never going to get an informed protestant like myself.
I was confirmed this past Sunday through the personal ordinariate of the chair of St Peter.
Reminds me of St. Mark Ji, he did not let his failures steer him away from the blessed sacrament of confession.

The world say I have every right to leave even my church. But I have faith that the Lord is calling me to the Catholic Church and also my husband. We are going to get our marriage blessed at the church. I pray that this will help our marriage and that God will finally be in our marriage and help us.
I came back to the Church this last Advent after 23 years of absence.
I came back to the church after 20 years and I have been attending Mass several times per week. I am so grateful for the Lord's forgiveness. Unfortunately, as of today, my province, Alberta, has restricted the number of parishioners in the church at one time to 15. This makes no sense to me because churches are not all the same size. I arrived for mass this morning, early, only to find the capacity of 15 had already been reached. So sad. Let us continue to pray for relief from the pandemic and especially for our brothers and sisters in India.

Thank you Fr. Casey for being a Good Shepherd, today marks the one year anniversary for me that I was allowed back in the Church to participate in Mass, I had a better understanding that by "Sacraments" it is not just the Eucharist. Although I wasn't going to Mass, a few parishes were offering the sacrament of reconciliation in the gardens around their campus, I was fortunate enough to be able to receive grace that way. I pray that we can all be courageous to get back home! Peace and good to you

This was the exact story that you shared from your homily last Sunday. If I am not mistaken, you also shared this story from one of your Upon Friar Review video (can’t remember which one).
This reflection has been very helpful to me. I’ve read this passage (John 15:1-8) thrice since last week. It was also the passage I’ve meditated on twice through Lectio Divina in Hallow app. Truly, we must remain in Jesus. Whenever we sin, we must come back to him again and again. Only Him can truly transform us. I pray that this transformation will free us from the sins that we fail to detach ourselves from. May we also grow to become more like our Lord Jesus Christ, so that through us, others may know and grow closer to God.
Thank you Fr. Casey for this wonderful reflection. Peace! 😊🙏🏻

God's power is made perfect in weakness. You are loved beyond measure. God cannot stop thinking about you. He is concerned about every heart beat of yours, you belong to Him, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart your ABBA has overcome the world, you have nothing to fear. Cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you, He who made Heaven and Earth. Do not worry about anything, but take it to Him in prayer and supplication, and the peace of GOD THAT SURPASSES ALL HUMAN UNDERSTANDING IS YOURS THROUGH CHRIST OUR LORD. Just trust Him, He loved you first. And remember, you will never fall so far, that his mercy can't reach you, for He is abounding in mercy and slow to Anger.
To the person reading this, no matter what storm you are going through today, just Be still, and know that HE IS GOD.

“Who made me think these silly thoughts to stay away from the sacraments”
Satan: *maniacally laughing*
Fr. Casey raises an interesting and very relevant issue about our physical presence at the Eucharist. The early church asked the same question about baptism. If a convert, a sincere believer who is being prepared for baptism, is martyred by the government before he is baptised, then what is his spiritual status?
The mainstream answer is that there is a spiritual baptism. Early church fathers use words such as "baptised in his own blood" to describe such martyrs. In my opinion, there is a similar spiritual communion for those who can only attend Eucharistic services via computer.
Whether or not one can is (of course!) known to God. And Fr. Casey is absolutely right to talk about legitimate reasons why one can not. God knows all of those reasons.
Christ said to forgive 7 times 70. His love is endless and His grace will be there every time we need it.

I think Jesus is really working a mysterious way and amazing. I left Lord and lost myself in Buddhism for 3 years but until one day I found out that Jesus is always waiting on me. When I knocked the door really opened for me. And also my appreciation to Mother Mary. I heard her calls to me. Only I have practiced then I understand Buddhism is not for me only Jesus is the way and the salvation.
And I really think that was God’s action. He really let me to hurt him by leaving him for what I thought was right. But he is always waiting on the end of the road.

I haven't been active in the Church for almost 3 years, and I admit to missing the Sacraments very much. I just abhor the thought of attending Mass in any of the parishes in my area that have been as unwelcoming and cliquish communities as I've ever encountered. I also pray for the day when the Church no longer protects clergy who abused their positions, authority, and privileges to take advantage of vulnerable people who sought them out for spiritual guidance and facilitates their participation in the civil justice system so they can face the social consequences of their actions. I know that I'll never convince my wife and kids to return to the Church due to their treatment by so-called Brothers and Sisters in Christ, but I continue to hold onto hope that the RCC bureaucracy will mend its ways and once again become in my life the beacon of hope, love, and goodness that you describe.
Father Casey, we can get Mass from our parish on line . And we can get communion at the church door. Our priests have been very creative in keeping us safe but still receiving the sacraments. I’m in Canada and our leaders limit the number of people who may be in a church. I don’t think you should be encouraging people to go against what leaders and public health officials recommend.
Thank you Father Casey.
Wonderful message.
Very well said Fr. When I was assigned in the Parish I used to confess every once a week. Now my heart cries out of going back to my past practice but because of the pandemic this made impossible. Thank you Father for your fatherly reminder.
The pandemic is a scam. The virus is over hyped by the Media and the Church.
A beautiful reminder of God’s love
I became catholic in 2019 & really enjoyed going to mass on Sundays. When covid hit, I stayed home & only went back once in the Fall of 2020. I was so scared that I would get sick or give it to someone that I just stayed away from everyone, including mass & the sacraments. And to answer your question, yes it's time I come back to the church. I can't hide at home for the rest of my life afraid of every bad thing I come across. I have Jesus on my side & like He says "do not be afraid for I am with you" & every time I pray about going back I always hear those words.
The pandemic is a scam. Their was no pandemic. The media over hyped the regular flu.
I am going to the "Church of the Amalekites".
At first, for the first 5 months of the pandemic, I did virtual Mass, but eventually I couldn't handle being physically away from Church! I just love it so much, it is worth wearing my mask for it. I love confession, i love sitting in the pews and closing my eyes and feeling like I'm in God's house, i love the Eucharist. I love listening to the bible verses and psalms being read outloud, and how the priest pieces it all together. I love hearing prayer in unison together, especially the "Our Father." I'm so appreciative of the staff that make it all happen, from the choir to the electric/sound guy, to the people helping us sit safely distanced. I got married in church, and it was magical, sensing God in every moment of our marriage sacrement. There is nothing like the warmth of being in God's house 🥰
Thank God in our community, we get to go to church every Sunday. I pray this pandemic wont get worst. I pray for those priests who died due to COVID 19. They've risk their lives for the sake of the call amidst their vulnerability. They're martyrs.

The sacrament of confession, absolutely. But Eucharist we shouldn’t be in mortal sin when taking- as St Paul tells us.
Go up and take a blessing, sure.
Thank you fr. for the life opening question, you make my faith move again. I need to cone back!

Question #1 NA.
#2 NA.
#3 NA
#4 There is apparently no question number four but I've been going to Church since they re-opened. If I can go to Home depot or Lowes, both of which remained open during the whole time, then I can go to Church. If someone felt they could not go to one of the stores that remained open during this pandemic.... well thats all well and good. But to say it was too hazardous to go to Church then go out and hob nob with the crowd at a still open store...
Last Sunday there was a marked increase in attendance at mass. Not quite filling the every other pew capacity but getting much closer.
What a great connection to make to last Sunday's gospel! I appreciate your respectful approach to this question. We went to Mass from Sept to Nov. then the fall spike started and it was no Mass for us again. Now that I'm fully vaccinated and our parish is still maintaining their good protocols (social distancing, all parishioners wear masks) so I've been back at Mass. We still have a dispensation. Mass on the computer did very little for me spiritually.

“MY JESUS, really present in the most holy Sacrament of the Altar, since I cannot now receive Thee under the sacramental veil, I beseech Thee, with a heart full of love and longing, to come spiritually into my soul through the immaculate heart of Thy most holy Mother, and abide with me forever; Thou in me, and I in Thee, in time and in eternity, in Mary. Amen.”
Thank you Fr. I needed this today.

I know this is an old video, from a different time in the pandemic, but honestly struggling with this as someone who is dealing with a long list of illnesses. My parish priest has been very supportive, seemed to really take precautions on my behalf.
But then he was visiting (for confession and anointing of the sick) two days ago. We're in the middle of an Omicron surge here in Oregon, even he had mentioned people dropping left and right at our parish. But in the course of our conversations, he basically alluded to the fact that he felt like us all getting Covid was inevitable. He's from Argentina, very intelligent, not at all someone I would expect to argue that....and it has troubled me ever since.
Hello Father Casey please pray for me
Thank you so much Father. Really helpful!

I appreciate the evenly measured statement on this.
Excellent spech!!! Thank you for your words, maybe this is the way (by video) to know Jesus Christ and to make a difference at the time when we have to wake up in apostolic life...

This is exactly what I have been experiencing this past few weeks. I went back to confession yesterday.
Thank you Father. Timely and topical. Made for sharing 🙏🏾
Keep it coming Padre Casey…
Thank you fr.Casey for this beautiful preaching do pray for my family who has not been to church for such a long time
I can’t wait to get back to mass and celebrate the Eucharist with the parish community I love.
The priest in my hometown is an absolute gift! The children are schools chant his name, he goes above and beyond all the time, I wish I could say his name publicly. He deserves the accolades hundred percent, but does gods work quietly. Love from 🇨🇦 Canada
The people in Canada need to protest the unlawful and unjust lockdowns and mandates for a fake virus. Their was no need to close the Churches or businesses.
This is one of the most reassuring videos you have done. If it had not been for the streaming Mass of our parish, I do believe I would have felt "lost" (even if we did do the spiritual communion each Sunday). But when we were able to start going to Mass (although under limited conditions) on Palm Sunday, it felt like I'd made it back home. The best moment was to once more take that consecrated host in my hand--and thank Jesus for being able to bring him (literally and actually) into my life again. It was very much like being with family again--and feeling our joy in once again being together.

I looked up this video to come up with a good letter for my grandmother to take her grief that's isolating her back to the altar and come back to church before it's too late. I might even stick in because of the very good questions you pose at the end even though she's Protestant (actually some of my Catholic practices have rubbed off on her, lol). Pray that she sees the light and returns and pray that I deliver the message well.
Story time: When I find myself avoiding the Sacrament, I go to this specific priest who is like a jolly grandfather. I like to think both Jesus and St. Joseph (relevant to my habitual sin that leads to my avoidance and technically he's our jolly grandfather, LOL) are there, one forgiving and one supporting.
EXCELLENT PRESENTATION .I'M IN RELIGIOUS LIKE MYSELF . I FOUND SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT IN WHAT YOU SAID . VERY HELPFUL MUCH APPRECIATED .BR SEAMUS .
This was awesome!, thank you!
No matter where you are or what the situation is, we are not cut off from the life of the Church. We are very connected to it; connected to all. Don't let your desperation or feelings of aloneness take over and cause you to loose patience and possible put lives at risk.. We have been given the gift of "spiritual communion." And there is a prayer we pray at every online Mass. "Spiritual Communion Prayer by Saint Alphonsus Liguori...... My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You. Amen." Also; for many churches, you can make arrangements to Confession in a safe manner for you and for the priest. And if your parish does not have something in place; suggest it. God bless us all. Amen.
Wow, Father, you really punched me in the face at minute 8. I needed that, thank you.
