Going out to the river for the first time. Is right by the Zee Bridge good place to start? Is there a bait store right by the bridge boat launch? Is it okay to walk from the boat launch across the river
Stay away from right by the bridge ice can be iffy. You can fish to north or south. Focus on breaks and flats. I personally don’t like fishing right in channel. I stay in 21-27’
I was just up fishing the Zilwaukee River front park just to the right of the Z bridge a few days ago. There's fish all through there, I just go right out in the middle in about 30-35 fow and jigged heavy half ounce spoons tipped with minnow heads. And yes, you can just park and walk right out there about 60 feet to the middle of the river and you're good. Good luck everybody, tight lines all the time!!!
Maybe I just don’t understand, im coming up tomorrow and fishing the lake. I don’t see why you’d want to fish the river and catch small ones when you can go out and catch big ones on the lake. Not to talk down on what you are doing, im sure it’s fun but I just feel like you’d get more out of the bigger ones
Really is about time. I had a morning to go out and fish and had to leave after. Not to mention we want to show all in the outdoors you can have fun on the river. Many don’t have machines to get out. Thanks for the comments.
Like my friend above just told you, the reason alot of people fish the river is #1 they don't have a snowmobile or quad to run miles out onto the ice in the Bay, and #2 most experienced fishermen know that it is the smaller fish that have the best tasting meat which is why we refer to them as "eaters", not to mention that by catching your limit and keeping the smaller Eyes out of the river we are helping the DNR bolster the Perch population which has been in decline in this body of water the last few years due to the enormous amount of smaller juvenile walleye in the region eating all the baby perch before they reach sexual maturity and can spawn themselves. Hopefully this explanation helps you to better understand the logic behind people fishing the river versus the Bay. I know its 2022 and life has become very confusing for some people and explanations of common and very simple things are often needed now where common sense and logic would have previously sufficed. Come back next week when I explain why they put seat belts in motor vehicles and the logic behind indoor plumbing and its health benefits. 🙄
Why do you even bother to measure foul-hooked fish? 13” minimum in that water; if you land a foul-hooked fish, you must immediately release. Be careful, wouldn’t be the first time to get ticketed based on video evidence….our CO’s spend hours screening RUclips and FB videos looking for potential infractions.
Here at Wood Raven Outdoors we have the highest level of integrity in following all laws and provisions. No fish in the video that were foul hooked were kept. I was just showing that average size being caught. They were immediately released.. thank you for your insight!
🙄Your "CO's" spend hours watching RUclips videos, why does that not surprise me?? Ahhh yes, my tax dollars hard at work watching RUclips videos to catch the violators of the worst crime known to man, keeping a foul hooked fish! Just imagine the implications of such an atrocitie!!! If this gets too out of hand we might have to call in the Foul Hooked Police with the National Guard to assist and maintain order while issuing citations. 🤦🙄😒🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫 People that push "send" before re-reading and then editing their own comments never seize to amaze me.😟
