Carol was a total B. Just sayin. If Randolph Mantooth walks up to you and is like "I would like to drop everything in my life to raise your child with you" you don't just walk away from that. Just no. But seriously, some great acting from Randy, and thank you for uploading this! So fun to see.
This is so sad, I felt really bad for him. You can see he really loved that baby and wanted to raise her, that's more than you can say for a lot of fathers out there. The girl, though she was going through a tough time as well, was being really selfish and immature. It takes two to tango, she wouldn't have had the baby without him so the child is his just as it is hers. So sad and even sadder that this sort of thing happens so much in real life
I love Ranolph. He is a real great talent. This story hits very close to my heart. If i were one of those characters, id be that baby girl. Only I had a little brother who was placed in foster care with me and we were 3 and 4 when we went in. Giving up a child is never easy on the side of the parent. But for some cases where the young are to young its the most selfless thing you could ever do. The mom who adopted my brother and I faught an uphill battle of her own after letting her son and later her daughter go she didnt have mych choice. When we were adopted by her she gave us the best life she could. I wish i could give back what time and circumstances stole from her but im greatful to her for all the love sweat and tears she put into raising two very different children all the while battling demons we had no idea about. This was a great story. Thank you for putting it out their
@theylou yes Randy is probably one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood........Excellent acting from Randy here :) i wish he could have held his baby
the ending here is heartwrenching..........i wish that Alan would have stepped in to take responsibility for his baby. I'm sure that he would make a great father.....I cried during the end.....beautiful story thank you for sharing this :)
That is not right. If she wanted to give up the baby he should have been given the option of keeping her. After all he is the baby's biological father.
Lizzie Jones true, it's so bullshit that she didn't seem to consider his feelings at all whatsoever, unfortunately that's how it often is, many women think just cuz they had the child only their decisions matter. but if she let him take the baby it would be the same situation, he'd be raising her by himself. She wanted the baby to have a stable family, something they both couldn't give her.
That does not look like a 5-pound premie to me!! Poor "Alan". I even felt sorry for Marcus Welby...This is one of those times he should have stayed out of it.
@TypesALot yes your absolutely right about that.......had Dr. Welby not chastised Alan, Alan would have gone through and could have taken care of his little girl......about the preemie, yes I've had 2 cousins born premature, and they weighed BELOW 5 lbs.
Wonderful and sad. Randys performance are really good. Thanks!

I agree because the character named Carol was a fool to let Allen slip through her fingers like she did!!
She had a big chip on her shoulder and personality issues as well.
Great actor, Randy is the BEST. He can play any part. I remember when this first aired I was 13 and I cried. Lol.
i almost cry every time i see this. so sad.

I love Randy Mantooth and think he can do anything he puts his mind to. He's a good actor.
I liked the Movie , even though he never was a dad in real life He would of made an awesome father, to any child,

This is so heart-breaking!
Wow-Before "To Save A Life" (2009) there was this episode, with a similar circumstance and outcome.
Poor Guy. I wished he could have had her. I bet he would have been a good Father.
I love this video. she's so. lucky

Years later, it is still very sad.
I keep on thinking this lady is talking to the wrong guy when she says "Alan" instead of "Johnny"
*doh*

@planetchinchilla yes he even made me cry........I wish he would have stepped in to take care of his kid. I'm sure he would have made a great father.
@bassecho me too........i kept watching the ending scene over and over......heartwrenching :(

Sound messed up
omg. wish. had. his. ba by
didn't men have parental rights back then? I think now they have to get the birth father to sign papers in order to give up a baby. don't they?
One would have thought so, but apparently the laws in the early 1970's didn't afford parental rights to fathers like they do now.
Alan doesn't know it but he dodged a bullet. Carol was a whack-job, and her kid would probably turn into one too. Those poor adoptive parents. lol
looks awful big for a newborn.and besides that there eyes aren't fully open
Wonderful and sad. Randys performance are really good. Thanks!
