I just wanted to say thank you for your very informative videos. You do a wonderful job at explaining and breaking down the tech and uses of reels, rods and tackle. As a average angler who can't try out all the options and didn't know where to begin. Your videos have greatly helped me understand reels and a good brand to use. It seems to have a reel for everyone. Again thank you for all the information
Very helpful video. I'm mostly throwing paddle tails and xraps on Florida beaches, think I'm going vanford but haven't held them yet. Liked and subbed. Thank you
Have multiples of both the Stradic and Vanford. They are both great reels and will potentially last a lifetime if you take care of them (other than replacing wear and tear items). But having caught 100s if not 1000s of fish on each it all comes down to balance. On my drop shot setup i want the stradic as it makes my rod sit higher. For a fluke where i work it rod tip down, vanford all day. But some might like it the opposite way. Honestly just buy both!
Thanks for the video JP. I have a question regarding the previous version of Vanford, which I already have. Can I replace the drag system in the 2020 Vanford with the new drag system from the 2024 Vanford? Will it fit and work? Thanks again.
I haven’t heard of anyone swapping out the drag washers for the new Duracross ones or if they are even available as parts yet since they are so new. A lot of people put the felt washers in their 3000’s to get that smoothness
Would you recommend for both freshwater bass and salmon fishing, a local guys says the stradic is good, but the vanford is a bit better cuz of the weight, I have a miravel and enjoy that but want an upgrade
I held the Stradic FM and Vanford reels this weekend. Because I'm less of a finesse fisherman and I like the idea of an all metal body, I'm a Stradic FM fan. One thing, I noticed that the 3000 series in both seems to have a small spool compared to the Daiwa BG 3000 I am replacing. The 4000 model FM seems to be closer to what I'm used to with my BG. The Stradic FM did not increase in price based on the model, unlike other reels like the Daiwa Tatula that do.
They use the same body for the 3000 and 2500 and implement a deeper cut spool for more line capacity on the 3000. That’s why it’s a C3000 which stands for Compact Body. Same with the 4000 and C5000
if i may, older Daiwa spinning reels use different sizing. Daiwa 3000 = Shimano 4000. but they have changed the sizing recently, following Shimano. Stradic is not an all metal body reel but it is quite a workhorse. Cheers!
@@3d3ist Thanks. I don't think I could switch directly from my Daiwa BG 3000 (2019) to the Stradic FM 3000. The Stradic just looks more like the smaller BG, maybe the 2500 or 2000 BG. I'd have to go with the Stradic FM 4000 because, I like the size of my BG 3000 and, I like the spool size. That spool on the Stradic 3000 looked tiny! LOL
How would an Exsence stand to these 2 reel as far as the tech specs? Since these 2 reels are newer does it mean that they are more advanced compared to the technology that was put into the Exsence in 2021?
Yes, both have more advanced tech built into them. Better drive train, better main gear and better drag washers. The Exsence will still have more bearings and have a lightweight magnesium body though.
I've always told people that if you wanna focus on finesse bass fishing then go vanford. If you wanna do heavier duty fishing on heavier species with some bass on the side then go stradic.
@@wciii3591 On paper you won't see much. In hand is where you will feel the difference. Vanford start up inertia is very fast. The stradic is lagging a bit. I've heard on high stresses the body of the vanford bends at time. The stradic shouldn't due to being more robust and the material being sturdier. Is it a deal breaker no but to some it will be.
There is a vanford 1000. I own one and you can find it online. It’s interesting, I’m trying to decide between vanford or stradic in 5000 size. I see a lot more vanford reels for sale on fb marketplace than stradics. I wonder why?
Probably old gen Vanford for sale with the new ones hitting stores soon. The new Vanford A is only available in 500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 4000 and 5000 sizes.
Thank you very much for the quick comparison JP! Looking forward to see more of this quality content! I've bought the Stradic btw, maybe later for the finesse setup I will pick the Vanford FA. Thanks again!
The stradic c2500sxg is my favourite reel. You might need to import it if its not available in your region though. By far the best small reel in the stradic lineup.
You want to be careful with importing overseas models in case you need reel rapid done as internal parts are often different and they do not stock them in North America. I have seen a a few people run into this issue.
Love Stradics in 3000 size. Have a 11 year old and 2 year old model. Just bought the 3000 compact Vanford and it is a gem. I prefer the Stradics on the slightly heavier 2-4kg, 7 foot rods and the Vanford for the ultra light 1-3kg 7 footers...horses for courses but i love the low inertia start of the Vanford. It is the king of finesse fishing for the money when on a light rod with light braid. But suspect as tight and solid as the Vanford is the Stradic might outlast it...not sure. Cheers

Best detailed review about the A I’ve seen
Best review of these 2 reels on YT. I have the Stradic 2500 and love it. Only trouble now is I want both in multiple sizes.🤑 Cheers from Australia.
I have both. The thing I notice most is when the weather is cold. The Stradic is cold and uncomfortable in my hand, the Vanford is not.
Because the stradic is aluminium and the vanford more plastic

Hey JP, what’s your thoughts on the new Vanford C5000 being used for inshore (Redfish, Stripers, Flounder) fishing?
It will do really well. I still prefer an aluminum frame for hard running fish personally but I have fished reds with a Vanford with no issue.
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors As always, thanks so much
Looking to get my first reel for inshore and surf fishing in Southern California. For the 4000 or c5000 size is one better than the other?
For surf casting I would go bigger for more line capacity... the weights are almost identical so extra line capacity is never a bad thing to have
So beautiful video sir nice information❤❤❤❤
Vanford ... no dought
I really wish they made slower gear ratios. Realing fast is easy. Slowing down is a pain
