The washer should be brass or stainless. The cotter pin is twice as big than it needs to be. I'm guessing lots of crap in the tank.

Thanks for the info. Yes it was dirty and very bad. Thankfully not rusty.

Can you do a video of you putting the carburetor back on the bike? I just bought a 1500 and I think the guy has the carb on wrong

Sorry you’re having issues with your carb. Unfortunately I know longer have the Vulcan but from what I remember it was pretty easy to get back on. You may have to heat it a little with a heat gun or a hair dryer. Just make sure it seats completely.

@@dschloe no I have the carb itself back in, I was mainly talking about the two extra lines, pretty sure ones a vacuum line and the other an overflow vent tube, but because I’m not sure exactly how to hook it up, I can’t get it to run right now

Hey Dave, I bought a bike recently that is very similar in the mods done to it as yours. I am curious on your bike when they removed the epa, did they just block off the the reed valves at the top of the valve covers or connect them? Also, thank you for all these videos as a first timer, they have been so helpful.

Thanks for watching. And I’m so glad they are helping you That’s why I do them. Unfortunately I don’t have the bike anymore but it was a great bike. But I’m pretty sure all the ports on the back were blocked off. I’ll see if I can find the information I had on it.

The previous owner did it. It’s called scootering. If you do a search for vn800 scootering you should be able to find it.
