Possible starting scene for season 2: INT: USS TITAN TRANSPORTER ROOM Several personnel beam in. BOIMLER is checking them in. The last one off of the platform puts her hand on the scanner and he looks up in shock. BECKETT (Sounds a bit weird - sort of angry but also glad) "Ensign Mariner Beckett, reporting for duty, Lieutenant Boimler, sir."
I'm sure Riker ran a program where the NX-01 crew had a movie night watching 'Crisis Point: The Rise of Vindicta' while he was the chef making the pizzas.
After seeing this clip, we should have gotten a series called Star Trek: Titan. Deeply missed opportunity. Maybe not. They could still do ST Titan but maybe as a more serious animated series.
The Titan books are probably still out of the canon. But the ship is canon here and now. It wasn't before. I don't really think that Riker had the same adventures with the ship in Canon.
It means the Titan (as pictured on the cover of those books) is canon. It doesn't necessarily mean the content of the stories are canon. That said, just because something isn't strictly "canon" (i.e. an event depicted in a novel) doesn't necessarily mean that it didn't happen. As long as the book is not directly contradicted by an official "canon" production, you can assume that the events in that book still took place. And if it is contradicted, well, you can also assume that those events DID take place in another reality/timeline. But bottom line, the DESIGN of the Titan is now official canon (assuming CBS considers Lower Decks to be canon--and, so far, they haven't said that it isn't). So, yes, unless they tell us otherwise, the Titan, as pictured, is now canon! :-D
What I really hope for season 2 is Boimler to remain on the Titan for the rest of of the whole series and perhaps to make some few guest appearance to show how much he’s matured. Just get some other freshie to fill his role on the Cerritos. I sincerely hope they don’t pull a whole he messed up and got transferred back to the Cerritos sorta gag.
Boimler is ALREADY the mature one. He's got his eyes on the captain's chair and maybe even Admiral. It's Mariner that needs to grow up. Hopefully, Boimler can outrank her by next season if he can't avoid being reassigned back on the USS Doritos sp he can rub it in her face.
Honestly, I feel like his victory will be short-lived because, If they go to the same planet from Episode 2, he might encounter a non-acting Ferengi, maybe a close associate to Riker, like Quark, and as soon as he acts the same way he acted on the second episode, he'll be demoted/judged for xenophobia, back into the Cerritos. Hope I'm wrong.
Harry Kim said on Voyager that they were "warned about Ferengi" at the academy, this is hardly Boilmler's fault, that's how they teach people over there.
Here's a take I haven't seen discussed: Boimler pulled a Riker, leaving his friend to pursue his career without saying good-bye. Now, Mariner isn't Boimler's Imzadi, so it's not as dickish of a move, but it's still pretty cold to go from saying "You're my best friend, and I'd miss you if you left!" to ghosting her. I think Mariner is entitled to a little irritation at the very least--I'm sure Troi blew up Riker's pad the first couple weeks after he left Betazed. :p
@@shadowwriter4538 No she doesn't. And besided, how can one have a conversation with a hysterical woman? Boimler is right to hold all of Mariner's calls until she cools down.
If the Titan shows up more in the 2nd season I hope they do with it what it's like in the books with less then 15 percent of the crew being human....plus I wanna see Dr. Ree!
If she didn’t care about him like she beardy care about anyone on her last 4 ships she been on then she wouldn’t be so angry about this also I ship them as well
Honestly, I'm thinking the last season ends with those two, after a lot of character growth and general maturing, as both a married or engaged couple, or even married and expecting or a flash forward to them explaining their adventures to their kids before they themselves join Starfleet or something, as well the Captain and XO on their own ship.
I love the ending to this season. I really hope that Boimler stays on the Titan (he deserves it), although I doubt that will happen and he'll get sent back to the Cerritos, unfortunately.
Well, they said during a panel that they are not taking away Boimler's promotion and it's sounding like he'll be on the Titan for a bit to show what life is like there. If this is their way of having a stealth Titan series while still telling stories on the Cerritos, I am here for it.
There is a Ready Room panel with the Lower Decks cast about the 2nd season. They are not going to undo Boimler’s promotion at the Titan and the 2nd season will start with his life there.
Interesting, will he get that second pip filled in and then transferred back to the Cerritos as Beckett's immediate CO? Talk about awkward (for them both). It would test his ability to set and keep boundaries and would force her to look at the consequences of her own choices.
Lol, I thought that it was Tom Paris 's face on the plate, but now I realised Tom didn't have that beginning of a beard like Ransom does. Well, Ransom had to choose who to promote between the captain 's daughter (he wanted to get rid of her and please the captain) or Boimler the "so promotable" (his words) and he postponed his decision with the pretext he had to work out "to think". I noticed he plays dumb when it suits him. Finally, Ransom made the right call and promoted Boimler for his merit and grateful Boimler has the plate with his face on his nightstand 😂, instead of a photo of his parents, or friends...
I don’t see Boimler returning as main character. More like recurring or cameo. He is likely the start of Ensigns eventually promoted thus leaving Mariner alone.
Riker walks in and says he was "watching" Captain Archer on the Holo-Deck... you mean he was Role Playing as Archer. Also he is straightening his uniform up like he wasn't wearing it but then finished what he was doing or more like finished WHO he was doing on the Holo-Deck. BTW Frakes and Sirtis were awesome on Disney's Gargoyals series.
Wow, no pictures of his family or friends ( Tendi, Rutheford, Mariner), but the picture of the guy who recommanded him to Riker for a promotion?! That 's next level ass-kissing !
Does make me wonder what will happen to Boimler come Season 2. Will he be written off the show now or be relegated to cameo appearances? Or will there be something that causes him to go back to the Cerritos? Certainly hoping that won’t be the case because Boimler was consistently crapped upon throughout the season, and it would be sad to see him lose it either because of his own mistakes or because of some scheming from Mariner.
I doubt he would go back to the Cerritos. The only way that would happen is if he got kicked off the Titan. Even though he's undoubtedly influenced by Mariner, he's still intimately familiar with Star Fleet protocol and goes by the book. My guess is cameo appearances
I think it's quite possible that the long-term arc of the show will be the other ensigns all being promoted off of the Cerritos one by one, leaving Mariner alone and her having to come to terms with the fact that she can't really keep hiding from her mother's legacy and expectations and she *certainly* can't expect her friends to put their lives on hold for her. Other ensigns will come through and will be similarly inspired and learn from Mariner in a way that sends them on to bigger things too, always leaving her behind in the end. Last ever episode will, of course, be a tearful final talk with her mother where they discuss their mutual sins in their relationship and either Beckett accepting a promotion to the Enterprise or resigning her commission to try to find out who she is (quite possibly a schoolteacher, much to her shock).
Probably because there’s no Jen on the Cerritos. Or at least, there wasn’t when Chief Engineer Billups - before learning Mariner was the captain’s daughter - didn’t even bother learning her name and _called_ her “Jen”.
@@eliasmedina9060 Yes I think her longest shot was the party of the promotion of Fletcher to the titan. Also in Much Ado About Boimler when Marnier was running down the hallway she pushed & yelled at Jennifer to move.
If they're using the same handwave as Star Trek Online then there are multiple approved patterns of uniform (see also TNG/DS9's uniform overlap). Which one is used on a given ship is down to that ship's captain.
@@Yuzral I was thinking the same thing, but as a reference to Star Trek Online which the show does seem to have. But one has to ask, with these references does that also mean Star Trek Online in some aspects is considered canon?
I could see Boilmer getting promoted and serving on several different star ships with legendary Captains like Geordi La Forge (USS Challenger), Harry Kim (USS Rhode Island) & Ezri Dax (USS Aventine). Learning from them and getting his own star ship in the final season.
Except both Harry's stints in the captain chair never happened. Endgame was deleted by Janeway, and Online is non canonical. That's five, count 'em FIVE times Harry was promoted in alternate timelines, all happening when he wasn't under Janeway's command. Either she has it in for him, or she's deliberately keeping him stuck at ensign because she thinks it cute, like when you doll up your puppy in a Santa Claus outfit for a Christmas party.
given boimlers work ethic i can see him be promoted to captain after the 20 year mark assuming he doesn't die on an away mission and gets to command a small ship like the nova class.
Face it: that's WHY Beckett is so angry. Sure, she feels abandoned by a friend, but overall, she's afraid that now she will be forced to face the facts of life: the duties, responsibilities and maturity of a Starfleet officer that is expected of her that she has been running from for years. She's probably more angry that she now feels she has to grow up or be forever left behind as people move past her.

The rest of the show is just a friendly race of one-upmanship in rank between Brad and Beckett, until one of them sits in captain’s chair and the other serves as their XO.
Really? In all honesty, I feel certain that Boimler will be sent back to the Cerritos at some point during season 2.

Wait a minute; does this mean the Titan books are CANON? Because this looks like the Titan in the books. awesome!
Not until they're mentioned on screen.
The Titan books are probably still out of the canon. But the ship is canon here and now. It wasn't before. I don't really think that Riker had the same adventures with the ship in Canon.
The books arent going to be canon but the ships design is certainly canon now.
Yes, the Titan is now officialy canon.
I love how detailed the animation is for a comedy show like this. Look at how Deanna's expression changes at 1:35.

I hope not, he's a very competent Star Fleet officer. If he dod mess up, it would be on purpose to get demoted. But he wants a Captains chair
I hope Boimler is going to learn the Riker maneuver.
Interesting, will he get that second pip filled in and then transferred back to the Cerritos as Beckett's immediate CO? Talk about awkward (for them both). It would test his ability to set and keep boundaries and would force her to look at the consequences of her own choices.
I only just noticed the Jack Ransom plate in Boimler's quarters.
Lol, I thought that it was Tom Paris 's face on the plate, but now I realised Tom didn't have that beginning of a beard like Ransom does.
