Chinese-American supersleuth Charlie Chan made his cartoon transition with his customary grace, only this time he brought along the clan. Maintaining Hanna-Barbera's winning formula (kids, mysteries, canine, van), the hit kid show also introduced some innovations (the van transforms, a double-sized team, HOWdunnits not whodunits). Most significant among these is the casting of the amazing Keye Luke (Kato, Master Po) as the voice of Charlie Chan. Not only was this the first time that an Asian-American would play Charlie Chan, it marked an apropos "graduation" for Mr. Luke, the original "Number One Son" Lee Chan of the classic Warner Oland Chan mysteries. Among those joining Mr. Luke on voice duties are Jodie Foster (Anne Chan), Lennie Weinrib (Stanley Chan) and Don Messick (Chu-Chu) in this complete 16-episode, two-disc collection. @@smdias65 Yeah, Hanna-Barbara did a lot show that were the same. Same plots, Same characters, Same animation, many of their voice actors did multiple shows as well.

Every Scooby Doo and its “clones” have a Peter Lorre character.
It's easier to remember what one-note type the kids are than their actual names.
Leader, "comic" relief, vixen, smart kid, tomboy, "cool" kid, hustler, chunky kid, token cute girl, and token cute boy.

The reason why the Chans were a large family.
Back in the 50s, (where MOST of them were born) Birth Control was brand new and not many people had it back then.
And Minorities (such as African Americans, Asian Americans, ect.) back then had little to no access to it back then. That’s why it was common for Minority groups to have many children around that time period.
This cartoon needs to be reintroduced.

Yes and no, yes she did voice her but technically she redubbed the voice. Leslie Kumamota was originally chosen but because of concerns about her accent might be difficult for American audience to understand, Jodie was cast to redub the role. Similar to how Tiffany voiced Judy for Jetsons the Movie years later. But for obviously different reasons.
She also provided the voice of Pugsley Addams for the 1970s animated Addams Family series also by Hanna-Barbera.
Gotta admire the work ethic of this Academy Award winner even at a young age

Parson Grundy: (repeating the process with Merilee) “Merilee, take the other ring, and place it on the third finger of Stanley’s left hand, and repeat after me, ‘With this ring, I too thee wed.”
Merilee: (placing the ring on Stanley’s finger) “With this ring, I too thee wed.”
Parson Grundy: (looking at the guests nervously) “If there is anyone among you who can show just cause why they may not join in Holy Wedlock, let them speak now, or else, hereafter and forever hold their peace?”
Utter silence looms among the guests.
Parson Grundy: “By the powers vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may kiss the bride.”
Merilee and Stanley kiss to seal their wedding vows.
Parson Grundy: “Ladies and Gentlemen, I present unto you, Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Chan!”
The guests applaud as the happy couple walks down the aisle.

i’m guessing the woke would have an issue with this … The woke loves to say we were never all inclusive but America has been for a very long time.

The sobering thing about this is that while we American kids were chomping on our sugary cereal and watching all these cartoons, asian kids were doing their homework, excelling at things like math, science, and engineering--things that many of us wouldn't have had a clue on---and I think this cartoon exemplifies just how much more smarter they were than us.
