First time anyone has shown the process instead of saying "you can fold the wings in under 5 minutes" which you have proved to be a little more involved. Thanks
Fixed! Yea We are big supporters of the Kitfox, the folding wing is critical for us. Our new Kitfox model 5 is even more fun than the green one you see here! Enjoy your flight! ~CRAZEDpilot
You answered a ton of questions for me about building a kitfox around my area hangers are years of waiting, or have to be made of money to own one. Even then the city owned hangers have so many rules I don't think you can even change a light bulb on your aircraft in one. What I wanted to know was if you had access to the cockpit with the wings folded looks like you do. That will allow me to work on it at home get in and out of the cockpit while it's stored in my large work shop at home.
Thanks for this video! I had an incident where a gust of wind knocked the wing out of my hands and struck the tail. Left some marks. The Wing pads are a great idea!
The folding wing ability is a very attractive feature of this plane. What size trailer would you need to accommodate it. Would be nice to be able to bring your plane on RV trips. I tow a 26' with 2 motorcycles, a UTV, and a Smart Car. But then I don't have my plane with me...:(
@evo2379 Yea but I wouldn't really call it 'involved'.... it's quite simple as you can see. BUT, the pins have to be honed to slide in and out just right, all interference points trimmed and perfected, pivot bolts lubricated (and inspected regularly!) But that's all once a year at the most so when it's perfect you get what you see, a fast wing fold. Thanks Enjoy!
no prob - it's something many people must know when making the decision to buy a used (or build) a Kitfox 1-7. It MAKES it possible for many people to affordably own an airplane...
I was under the impression you didn't need to disconnect the flaperons, as the action of folding the wings (after you undo the curved zippers in the back), naturally rotated the flaperons upwards?
seems like rain would get in with the turtle deck off and the wings folded while you were driving it down the road I'd attach some rubber bands to those control rods to automatically pull them out of the way. strong enough to do the job but not so strong to interfere with your controls. or springs. also maybe some to hold the flaperons in a neutral position when disconnected

Excellent tutorial. Thanks.
Thanks and any time you do a video of flying the KF you'd have some customers.
Excellent! Looking forward to more educational videos!
Fantastic! I'm going to buy Avid Flyer soon, that was very helpful! Thank you!

Excellent video Bro, Thanks
Yes, the newer Kitfox 4/5 etc do not have the pivoting linkage..... this plane was built in 2006 and followed the later design.
Just for that reason, I want a KitFox
I wish my Champ folded , nice plane.
great video.........thorough and well described.....

Why don’t you install studs so you can secure those flapper on rods when you take them loose?
Many do, if it was plumbed for it. You can also add heat.
Absolutely cool!.
Very Nice.
This is a nice video.
You should start making videos with open captions! So I can understand what you are saying :) Cool video though.
Thanks for posting!
Why do you need to release the flaperons?
does the kitfox have heat
Green...? Very stealthy....
