This is great information for everyone to see I adopted 8 piggies from different shelters that are all ages very young and older ones. We spoil them daily with having 9 yrs experience with piggies I tend to take the harder to adopt ones and give them the care they need. And give them all the love they need. And help for there specific needs
I have never thought to put the bottles in the dishwasher every now and then - that's such a great idea. Adopt don't shop, and I know I have hamsters, not Guinea pigs, but my little Star was rescued from a horrible situation and she was quite squirmy and jumpy when I got her, but I put in so much time and care with her and she is just the sweetest hammie now. So yes, if people put in the time and care with their animals they will reap the benefits. Great video that can be applied not just to guinea pigs.
Dude I cannot thank you enough for all the hard work you put into your videos, your rescue and just everything you do . You've been working hard to educate the community and I wanted to thank you personally. My buddies also thank you .I didn't even think about the dishwasher and the water bottles. Your all the way across the country but your still helping my buddies here. Thank you
Great video Scotty, my daughter (has autism n hdhd) was given a guineapig last year to help her better understand other mammals. VanillaBean has forced her to sit calmly, talk in a low calm soft voice, care for their needs, understand their daily needs with routine. VanillaBean an now Cocobean are great therapeutic first animals. If you want your young child to have one as a first pet, I'd wait till Thier at least 10 an always always supervise. Maybe instead of saying no to this it be better to give advice if parents are getting guineas as starter pets, cause we all know they are. Let's educate not underestimate. Thanks 😊
Scotty, you are the most wonderful human being on this planet! I love your enthusiasm, your passion and love for animals and how caring you are! I watch your videos with pleasure. You are always so informative and accurate, I've learnt so much about piggies from your videos. Thank you so much for doing what you're doing. Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa. Mommy of 3 female piggies. Peace!
This is a great video! Very informative for all piggy owners, new and old!! Thank you for saying HI to my Bubba & Pepe pigs today at the rescue! We had to get going cause they were there at 1030am for their health checks and we wanted to beat the heat. They did so good with Saskia at their health checks. Pepe has a larger paw so I will be treating it with antifungal cream till it reaches the same size as his other footie, cause she thinks its fungus that may be causing that. Saskia was so sweet letting me go get lunch with my friend who also now looovveess the rescue and letting my boys hang in front of the air conditioner while I was gone! So accommodating and sweet to my piggies and me, thank you so much for being amazing LA guinea pig rescue!
Thanks Abigail. Sometimes my videos are for piggy pros, and sometimes they're for Noobs! If people know you are the guinea pig girl, maybe they ask you about them if they are thinking about getting piggies. Videos like this might save you time, from having to explain all about their care, just say check out Scotty's video ____
Your basic care videos are the best Scott. When I wanted to get a guinea pig I knew nothing about them and because of your videos, I am now a great guinea pig mother!
I totally agree with you on the breeding, and everything else, Scotty. As far as the research, 20 years ago I thought I knew what I was doing, thought the pet store knew what they were talking about, even looked at a book at the library. But thanks to this wonderful online community, I now know so much more (am still learning), and now know how much I was failing back then. No way could I ever go back to how I use to do things. I rather not have piggies at all, then have them and not care for them right.
Scotty, I'm really happy for you! Of course you know you're a great, great help, but sometimes everyone needs to hear it! You're a very important part of helping guinea pigs in the whole U.S., believe it or not, and I watch just about every video you upload! Besides giving out wonderful, educational information, you also keep people always smiling with your own beautiful piggies, and the infamous Guinea Boars!!
Love! Love! Love! This video!!!!!!!! Does anyone hear a 10 guinea pig care wins coming soon!?!? We know Scotty won't leave us unbalanced here! Lol! Also caring and healing a sick guinea pig will bond you like crazy to them! Knowledge is passion. Best info on here and Laugh guinea pig rescue! I can't thank you enough you have changed my life.
Scotty I am sending u so much love and my girls are sending u so many snuggles to u as well. My channel is no where as big as urs but im trying to help spread the message about proper piggue care right along with u. Keep spreading the word and keep ur passion alive sweet heart and thank u so much for all u do ❤❤❤🐹🐹🐹🐾🐾🐾❤❤❤❤
I so so agree with the first one, and it’s honestly sad to see so many guinea pigs alone. I had two brothers once, and they ended up in separate cages right next to each other, because they wouldn’t stop fighting. They were communicating quite nicely through the grids 💕 Very informative video, as always!
An added thought about picking us up, when Shark want's to hold me, she approaches me the same way and with the exact same words every time. This way, I am always sure about what is going on. Usually I come right over, but even I have my moments!
I wish I knew about your channel awhile ago when I had Guinea Pigs I have learned a lot about how to care for them and what health problems that affect them.Unfortunately they both had health issues and passed away.I love how much you love your Piggies and especially love when you kiss them! Also finding a Vet that knows about Guinea pigs because I had a vet who thought my Piggie needed an Antibiotic when he didn't and it killed him. They other Piggie had a hernia that unfortunately ended up passing I feel very bad because I did not know that 80% of their diet should be hay Thank you and Saskia for helping educate Guinea Pig owners and especially for the love and care you give the Piggies.XXOO
I've learned so much from you and Saskia so far! I feel like I can become a really good piggymom with you guys! You helped me alot! Thank you for that! And btw, I'm from Germany and it was SO hard to get a C&C cage over here! I ended up ordering a 2x5 one from Ebay for my 3 piggies! Lots of hugs for you guys! You ROCK!♡♡♡
I have a boy pig who had ringworm and the shelter was going to put him down. It makes me so sad to even think about it. Athletes foot cream was all he needed and they were going to kill him. Thank god I got him before that happened. Now he is safe.
You r so passionate about guinea pigs scotty! I really appreciate all of ur great advice. Everything you say is so true. Ive truely learned so much from you. Thank you scotty!❤🐾🐹😘
Agree totally with these points especially about finding a good vet preferably before adopting (is there any other way of acquiring a piggy?!!)Research, research, research.Talk to experienced people, Google, read magazines articles and books, watch good videos like this one!I have worked in a gp sanctuary for years and I still learn every day.You never stop learning about these amazing animals.
* request** If you Thumbs Down, please explain why or how I could improve. (I think I just have a diligent, persistent troll, I'm honored) I always get 1 or 2 thumbs down within 1 hour.
@@CosmicHamsters Maybe, but every single video within an hour, usually much quicker. Either way I almost never thumbs down the video unless it is completely not what the title and thumbnail suggested is or if the information is so bad and hard to follow. If that is the case with my videos I would love suggestions
@@ScottysAnimals I don't give thumbs down either, unless it is something horrific like animal abuse in which case I report the channel. Some people just don't have anything better to do, but also remember you can't please everyone all of the time, and also your channel won't be for everyone, but there will be many people out there that do like your channel, which I am sure you already know :)
Scotty's Animals every single vid I’ve ever watched on RUclips (and I watch a lot!) have thumbs down on thumb. Who knows why people do it 🤷♀️ I wouldn’t take it personally you’re doing an amazing job. I’m a first time guinea pig mum and your vids have been priceless for my learning curve! x
Very informative. I have 2 adorable boys who are about a year and a half now. To this day they don't like to be handled and reluctant to petting BUT they get floor time daily and I sit on the floor and they come hang out with me and hop on my lap. So, I just let them take the lead.
You're right Scotty guinea pigs are so much fun and cute. I loved how you could help someone with their piggies and now their babies are better. Your channel Rocks it has helped me so so much for my girls they're very informative and fun thank you Scotty your amazing with the Guinea pigs 😁😁
Thank you for all of your helpful information. I live in Florida. My wife and i enjoy our life with our 5 guinea pigs. I did notice in your video that you did not mention the importance of daily cleaning of the pigs environment. This process must become part of the daily routine as a clean environment is crucial to keeping sickness away.
I wrote out a comment but I deleted it. It was about how wrong breeders are, but I wasn't going to be nice... Although everyone knows there is no excuse whatsoever for breeding, I will only say. Thank you Scotty for doing what you do my friend I never met. One day you will get back 100 fold for helping the least of Gods little creatures. As long as their are ignorant people who breed, you will be desperately trying to save little furry souls. My 2 Guinea pigs are the reason that I have a Guinea pig rescue fund jar sitting on my counter at my shop And every time it gets full I'm going to match what's in and I am sending it to you Scotty. I just started it a couple weeks ago. Most people are unaware and and uneducated about Guinea pigs as I was, but now I am trying to educate and with your help, I am. 🐾♥️ 🐾PIGGY POWER🐾 lol💪💪💪
Plus oftentimes shop or breeder pigs often have health issues. I have never seen pigs before for adoptions before the LA one. My 2nd boar was so sick for the first year and I spent loads of money getting him to his fluffy chunky self! I will always drive to LA from now on to adopt one!
I always encourage people looking to get piggies to make an appointment with a Cavy Savvy Vet and get to know that vet before their piggy gets sick. That way, the piggy parent may not stress as much when their piggy gets sick or injured.
Even my most scared pig is from a breeder, and I did not know better at the time. My newest two was from a familiy with allergies, which was really tame. That showed that they were really cared for. There is piggies in need even in Denmark. They are dumped here too. We are only getting smarter about our piggies :)
Having our male neutered (we were told by the rescue he was a female and i was dumb and never checked) and than putting him back in with our girls his attitude did a total 180, he was destroying his midwest cage (he was in there while healing) but now he doesn’t destroy anything just has a nice time with his 3 girlfriends 🤣
Hi Scotty, we use the living world glass water bottles and once a month I clean them in baby bottle sterilising fluid. Works great. Thanks for another cool video x
Funny he said all I did wrong I saw the movie bed time story thought how hard can they be. Bought 2 did alot of mistakes but now I check everything online with LA guniea pig rescue. You guys are heroes. Unfortunately I have the wrong cage so I opened up the whole kitchen area and they walk right up to me while I am cooking and whistle and nibble on my toes if I ignore them. They let me know is I forget to fill up the water when they hear the faucet water running or when they hear the patio door they beg for the cat grass I grow for them. They are smart love them now so much want to get a 3rd but I'm scared that the cleaning I do is barely good for them .
Thanks, Scott. This is great info. A good, cavy savvy vet is hard to find. My regular vet is good but is a regular dog/cat vet that doesn't deal with rodents. I asked two local rescues who they go to and both recommended the vet (exotics) I take my pigs to now.
I use to brake out in hives everywhere when I touched hay to give to my babies there hay. I never thought anything of it I just dealt with it now I touch the hay and no hives like nothing happened.
Its been about 4 months with my piggies and they are starting to open up a little bit the process is slow sometimes frustrating but im sure the end will be amazing
On the diet point I’d highlight the dangers of bloat, we were new to the pig world, we had the best cage , equipment, food etc but one of pigs died of bloat because our inexperience didn’t spot the signs , in hindsight we shouldn’t have gave too many veg treats, we know now where we went wrong but at the sad loss of “Jay” 😢🐹 we love and support you scotty 🤗
Guinea people unite, weee! Great video again! Have three different vets, as one don't know how to check teeth and it resulted in the death of my pig, the second vet fixed them, but it was too late... Anyway, all great things to be reminded of, I think!
Due to physical fights, my piggie boys now live in separate enclosures side-by-side. Is there any chance they could live together again? When I first got them, they were best buddies, but the more bonded they got to me, the less bonded they were to eachother.
Thats great for you, you can adopt a guinea pig when you want to and see a vet instantly but I live in Canada Ontario to be exact and we don't have guinea pigs all over the place we don't have rescues or vets we have one vet that is an exotic vet and even the ones that don't aren't even taking new Penitents so we don't have all the options that you think . and that is how it goes.
We bought our five boys and one adopted (and he's such a special quirky boy) ♥ next time we'll adopt all. They're such good friends and we love them so much. Our living room is a guinea pig centre now 😍 😄 🐹 🐹 🐹 🐹 🐹 🐹
Dear Scotty, You and Saskia do discuss clean water and clean bottles but nobody says anything about cleaning the little stainless steel balls inside the tube. I always at least every 2 weeks take the tube apart and clean the balls. Yeah ha but they still need their little balls cleaned. Thanks for hearing me in Chicago, lisa
Scotty does show how to clean the spout of the water bottle (which also cleans the ball bearing) in another video. I can't remember the name of the video.
I love the video Scotty, I totally agree with you with the breeding. I get so irritated at them and pet stores, they really should be educated. Pet stores are really clueless!
I find the resources and opportunities here in Ontario Canada are very limited. I tried to adopt instead of shop, but there was nothing close by. I ended up rescuing my little boy from a pet store and treating him for a fungal ear infection and mites. He had also been attacked by the other guinea pigs due to over crowding resulting in a couple of splits on his ears. I would have loved to bond him, but never had the opportunity. However, we are SUPER close. Whenever I am away for more than a day, my mom says he becomes super skittish and sometimes even aggressive. As soon as I come home he will start to make sounds again like purring and weeking. Unfortunately, I seem to have the no. 1 guinea pig fail (he lives alone). Everything else though, is covered.
Leeny03 Cosens Sometimes you can place a mirror inside the cage or outside so they’ll see themselves and intersect that way if you do not have the space to put a cage beside your guinea pig.
@@mad5467 I have heard of that before, I will try that and see. Overall, he seems to behave like any well happy piggy I have seen throughout Scotty's and the LA rescue's videos
But you have SKINNYPIGS1 in Canada! Your Mom can watch my taming videos, I just make a new taming playlist! Get him a side by side buddy or find a rescue, you can do it!!
So I don't have any place nearby that I can adopt guinea pigs but I do buy guinea pigs from petco ONLY if they been there for a good amount of months ( 5+) or too big for anyone else to want :)
I am seriously cracking up right now! #10 - Connect to the Guinea Pig Community Just like our piggies, we need our guinea pig community to keep US from freaking out! 😂
Getting from a breeder was the worst guinea pig experience I ever had. We got a couple from some trashy people at a pet expo. They said they were purebred abbsiybbians (they 100% were mixed with american short hairs) and they were the most nervous guinea pigs we've ever got. We never tamed those girls down. Flash forward to my adopted boys, the best guinea pigs I've ever had (and way cheaper to be honest). Adopt dont shop folks!
There are extremely reputable breeders, who also rescue pigs and foster them. There are many breeders who love their animals. Nothing is black and white. Yes there are back yard breeders, and no that’s not ok. They often supply pet stores and yes don’t give proper care. It’s ok:to care but not to judge others without ever meeting them. You may be surprised how much many breeders care. It should be , don’t accidentally breed. Know your genders, know what you are doing when you bring a piggy into your home. Yes many people give them up for valid reasons, but many don’t. Don’t have time, bored with them, too much work, are not valid reasons. Maybe instead of blaming the ethical breeder, education for the public may work too. Many ethical breeders take back their own pigs, and others in the community. Not black and white..😀 I hope this was kind..
OK, I got to the part about picking up the piggies every day and I looked over at my piggies and I swear one of them was *glaring* at my phone 😂 I do pick them up, but she gets tired of my shit and I don't think she wants you encouraging me 😅
I have only one guiena pig, it was given to me and unfortunately my mom doesn't want another one, no matter how much I have insisted. What can I do to ensure her well-being if we can't have another guinea? I truly feel bad that she has no one to be with but can't so anything about it.
Point 3: It's not important to have pellets, on the contrary it's absolutely unnecessary to have pellets. Hay and a good mix of vegetable/herbs are sufficient, pellets only make the diet less good. Point 4: You can also use a water bowl, in my opinion it's better than water bottle. It's more hygienic - easy to wash, and more natural. It depends on the cage if you can use a water bowl without getting litter/hay in it too often though. Otherwise good advices as always.
What happens if you already have a guine pig and didn’t know they need another freind and your parents wont let you get another one? Is it ok if I spend a lot of time with her and keep her happy without a friend?.
Hi I brough home a male guinea pig watching your videos now I could say he is less than 1 year old, I feed him with plenty vegetables and fruit but, the hay he barely touches it... I think he gets used to just to eat vegetables and fruit, before he was the pet of a cousin and he didn't want him anymore he was very thin and he never gave him hay while he was living with him. But since el gordito came live with me ( I called him gordito/fatty) he has gaing more weight and he looks very healthy.. but I am worry cause I don't know how to make him eat enough hay. Could you give me some tips to fix this?? thanks, greetings from Mexico!!
I just got 2 baby guinea pigs (males) about 9 weeks old and I can not get them to eat hay! I've tried alfalfa cubes, hay rack, putting it in a pile. They just dont seem to be interested. I also give them pellets and romaine lettuce which they love but I dont know if they are just uninterested in hay bc they're so young or what. Any advice? They're my first piggies btw, been watching a lot of videos 😊
Maybe try Timothy hay mixed with only a handful of alfalfa. I know somebody who has two boys who don't like to eat their hay and it worked for them. Also you can make sure it doesn't get dirty by having a hay rack bc they don't eat hay that gets dirty ( you can make one by using tissue boxes, I do that and its cheaper and easier)
Hello . I have a couple of questions for you . I have four guinea pigs living in a 2 X 6 c and c cage is this o.k? and if I needed to split the cage could two guinea pigs live up one end and two the other?
Should I take my pig to the vet? One of his eyes has been producing a lot of white goo every day covering his whole eye. I know they secrete that to clean themselves but it's never been this bad before. I would only ever see a little bit in the corner of his eyes very rarely and now it's a lot every day constantly. Could it be infected? Or is this normal?
@@ScottysAnimals the pig cam videos where it's just a close up of the piggies roaming around and munching on hay. It works a bit better cause she has a herd but maybe you could do individual cage pig cams every now and then.
I have 5 males. 2 pairs and a single. The single is a baby that is about 5 weeks old now. We rescued him, his mom and sister and we think the mom is pregnant again. Im waiting to see if she is so I can introduce one of the babies. Hes just so aggressive towards other pigs. He is right next to all my other pigs but I had to put cardboard in between the cages so he cant see them. He would try to bite their noses and he would climb his dang cage to try to get into their cage. He is in a extra large dog kennel so its completely enclosed which I hate. Im not sure I should even try to get him a friend because of his behavior towards my pair that he is next to. It sucks and i feel bad but im just not sure
Haha oh no 😅 I'm not an expert, but it seems like some just like to climb. Scotty has a level in Nails and Piggy Smalls' cage that they jump up onto. One of mine was the same, so we built two story cardboard homes and she'd take the top while her friend liked the bottom. Some are crazy and jump completely out of their cages lol. Nothing wrong with them, just personal preference, I think.
Number 7 hit me because it was true. Truth be told I always knew I was Steroid as a teenager when i had my first Guinea pig so I decided to get a Male partner and they mated and had their own family. It very true is very very selfish reason to do this because after awhile they did had their issues and of course there isnt any family console or a website I can go to help out. But after going to the library I rented out a book on guinea pig breeding to help me understand. I had to split the family and save money to make a huge split cages and spaces.i learn a lot from my mistake but I did love all 19 of them. Its been more than 15yrs but I haven't own a guinea pig. But years later I told my wife about my problem with having a family she understood and told me something that was a shock to me. She Antinadurist (not sure how to spell it. Basically you dont want to have kids because the kids will suffer in this world but you still love them but choose not to have them) sorry if I butcher how to spell that damn word lol. But yeah I think I found my own partner and happy with. But yeah is true adoption for guinea pig is the best way and I think in the future my wife and I are going to adopt some guinea pigs (not real people lol actual guinea pigs)
very good video, scotty. your passion reaches others, you talk directly from your heart, i like that. and thank you for all your support to my channel. 🌸🤗🌸
I want to get my male guinea pig a friend but my grandma (me and my mother stay with my grandparents right now) won’t let me get another one. Says they will have double the poop and pee and I will have to clean the cage more often, how can I convince her? I’ve been telling her he needs a friend but she won’t budge at all.
Trust me, you'll be cleaning the cage just as much. And it will be worth it, as a friend will make your pig braver and more open to new things like interacting with humans
I've not found a vet in the area that is comfortable with guinea pigs except the exotics guy down the road but ... The reptiles he keeps there at his little place... They have filthy cages. That can't be a good sign. I shall keep looking and meeting people until I find one though! I'm determined!
Any noise can be a trigger if you associate it with food enough times. Just make the same noise or say the same thing every time you're getting them food and a eventually they will know that sound means food is coming and they'll get excited and squeek. It also helps to do it at the same time every day or close to the same time.
Saying no one should ever breed guinea pigs and that they're just selfish if they do is asking for no more guinea pigs. If people didn't breed them and no one did in the future, we wouldn't have these amazing pets. I don't breed guinea pigs nor do I ever plan to, but I do suppupot reputable breeding of animals. Its like telling dog breeders that they're the reason there are dogs in shelters, when realistically, reputable breeders will always take their dogs back, will fight ti get dogs back that they bred, and were the ones who created breed specific rescues. Many dog breeders also work with local rescues. PETA is the one brainwashing people to think all breeding is bad, yet they've admitted that their goal is to end pet ownership. Food for thought.
I have my flaffy(female) I'll.try to.learn more.and.more...but I am.so.scared...even my girlfriend says to.relax. I was... ohh shes.cold...oh shes.afraid dobt do that.... but I love my guin pig
Francis Rivas I wash guinea pigs’ food bowls and water bottles every day. I have twice as many as my piggies need and just put a fresh ones in with fresh veggies and pellets, as well as fresh filtered water every day. My philosophy is, if I won’t reuse my plate or glass without washing it first, or eat/drink something stale, why should I expect my babies to?
#7 Really made me upset because it reminded me how angry it made me to hear this guy I know was trying to breed his 2 guinea pigs and asked me for advice. And he knew absolutely NOTHING about how to raise the 2 guinea pigs he currently had, let alone babies. He said he didn't even have any idea they could have up to 8 pups! And then another girl I know tried giving me her 2 guinea pigs, said 1 was a boy and 1 was a girl. But they were living together, and she had no clue how horrible of an idea that was. It made me so mad to hear them say these things to me. I had 2 females of my own who fell pregnant due to a missexed male. And when I got the 3 pigs, the girls were already pregnant. And I neutered the male because he is the son of one the females and I didn't want to separate them. This happened almost 2 years ago now. The 2 girls happily had 5 total babies. And I own 12 healthy piggies altogether. 6 males, 6 females. All but the 5 babies were all rescues ❤❤ Edit: I told both people to immediately seperate their opposite sex pigs and explained to them what to do if it was too late and the female was already pregnant.
Please share this on your favorite Guinea Pig Group!

They other Piggie had a hernia that unfortunately ended up passing I feel very bad because I did not know that 80% of their diet should be hay
Thank you and Saskia for helping educate Guinea Pig owners and especially for the love and care you give the Piggies.XXOO
😎♥️
Scotty,
Your educating is very helpful to all who learn from you and Saskia.
The guinea pigs all appreciate and benefit from you.
It’s really great.

Scotty's Animals me too
maybe they are guinea pig breeders not liking your videos!
Absolutely, I adopted some new guinea pigs and they're the best things ever I'm so glad I didn't get a sick skittish one from a pet store!

Love your videos! They have helped us so much with our new piggie babies ♡
Great video Scott! Much love from the Gillams in AZ! We have learned so much from your videos!
I just thought that you might want to add pet insurance to the one about a vet.
Awesome info as always!
***Potatoes With Legs is an excellent FB group, and Scott helps us out with it. We are beginner-friendly; there is no shame in needing to learn.
Plus oftentimes shop or breeder pigs often have health issues. I have never seen pigs before for adoptions before the LA one. My 2nd boar was so sick for the first year and I spent loads of money getting him to his fluffy chunky self! I will always drive to LA from now on to adopt one!
Really love your channel!
I always encourage people looking to get piggies to make an appointment with a Cavy Savvy Vet and get to know that vet before their piggy gets sick. That way, the piggy parent may not stress as much when their piggy gets sick or injured.
Brilliant video x
I should add i got super lucky and he didn’t get any of our females pregnant in the 3 days we had him in before he was fixed
18:06. A man who loves his piggies!
Thanks Great tips!!! gotta get some Guinea pig cuddly beds will keep them warmer for the winter to...
For a cage, we have a 3'x4' DIY cage that only cost us roughly $25 in supplies from Home Depot. Way cheaper and bigger than what the pet stores offer.
When he went "brrrrrht" and kissed the giant hamster, I felt that
Great video! 💕😊👏
@Elham M at the time I was adopting I lived in Perth Ontario. Now I live up in Sudbury for school.

You are awesome!
So I don't have any place nearby that I can adopt guinea pigs but I do buy guinea pigs from petco ONLY if they been there for a good amount of months ( 5+) or too big for anyone else to want :)
I am seriously cracking up right now! #10 - Connect to the Guinea Pig Community
Just like our piggies, we need our guinea pig community to keep US from freaking out! 😂
You always make me smile and have great insight for piggy parants so good 👍🍆
Getting from a breeder was the worst guinea pig experience I ever had.
Not black and white..😀 I hope this was kind..
sproutpaw totally agree....😀
Also, Cookie and Chai say hello from Ontario, Canada!
I can't whistle! But I baby talk and sing to them with treats
OK, I got to the part about picking up the piggies every day and I looked over at my piggies and I swear one of them was *glaring* at my phone 😂 I do pick them up, but she gets tired of my shit and I don't think she wants you encouraging me 😅
Either that or maybe she was staring at Mike since that's when he got picked up? Maybe she has a crush haha jk 😄
It was definitely a pissed off look. 😅
I have only one guiena pig, it was given to me and unfortunately my mom doesn't want another one, no matter how much I have insisted.
What can I do to ensure her well-being if we can't have another guinea? I truly feel bad that she has no one to be with but can't so anything about it.
What about the living world extra large dulexe cage? Is it big enough for 2 guinea pigs?
Point 3: It's not important to have pellets, on the contrary it's absolutely unnecessary to have pellets. Hay and a good mix of vegetable/herbs are sufficient, pellets only make the diet less good. Point 4: You can also use a water bowl, in my opinion it's better than water bottle. It's more hygienic - easy to wash, and more natural. It depends on the cage if you can use a water bowl without getting litter/hay in it too often though. Otherwise good advices as always.
Omg! I didn’t know you were allergic to Timothy hay! You’re such a good pig dad for putting up with that! 🧡
What pellets do you feed?
What happens if you already have a guine pig and didn’t know they need another freind and your parents wont let you get another one? Is it ok if I spend a lot of time with her and keep her happy without a friend?.
What do I do
Hi I brough home a male guinea pig watching your videos now I could say he is less than 1 year old, I feed him with plenty vegetables and fruit but, the hay he barely touches it...
@Elham M oh I will try that, thank you so much!
Thanks I'm getting 2 Guinea pigs from a rescue their owner died before they turned 1
Not normal. Hopefully you did end up taking him to the vet seeing as this was 4 months ago. Did he get better with treatment ?
You should do a video of the pigs just being pigs like the ones little adventures makes
Any example links? I want to be as popular as her! If I was, I'd EXPAND the piggie room :)
@@ScottysAnimals the pig cam videos where it's just a close up of the piggies roaming around and munching on hay. It works a bit better cause she has a herd but maybe you could do individual cage pig cams every now and then.
Absolutely agree with you!!! Breeding of any animal is so irresponsible and stupid. It sickens me. ☹️
Hi Scotty! It's Mitzi! Lol I have a new email here on RUclips! Great information!! 🐹🐾💙💚❤💕
It sucks and i feel bad but im just not sure
ive been doing research for 1 year now.My parents live in different houses so they say i cant have one. What do i do now?
My guinea pig climbs the side of her cage. She jumps on top of her house and does laps around her cage. Is that normal? 😂
It sounds like she's happy 😊 Doing laps is called "zoomies" and is a sign of happiness and excitement.
Sarah Stardust what about jumping and climbing? Lol. Her fav time to do zoomies is at 2am😂
@Elham M there are!!!! I always see them ad equals
very good video, scotty. your passion reaches others, you talk directly from your heart, i like that. and thank you for all your support to my channel.
I’m asked and asked her but she just won’t budge on getting him a friend :(
I've not found a vet in the area that is comfortable with guinea pigs except the exotics guy down the road but ... The reptiles he keeps there at his little place... They have filthy cages. That can't be a good sign. I shall keep looking and meeting people until I find one though! I'm determined!
If you have a local facebook page, maybe ask for recommendations for an exotics vet?
@@karaleetrapp 😳 I'm embarrassed for not thinking of that. Lol thanks!!

scotty i cannot whistle havent for my 58 yrs but i talk to my gunea piga
Susan Ayers I cant whistle either so I make kissing sounds and they go nuts and squeak loudly for me.
Any noise can be a trigger if you associate it with food enough times. Just make the same noise or say the same thing every time you're getting them food and a eventually they will know that sound means food is coming and they'll get excited and squeek.
It also helps to do it at the same time every day or close to the same time.
@@cronicjointpain1 thank u
@@susanayers880 you're welcome.

AGREED!!! NO BREEDING!!!!! (#7)
I have my flaffy(female) I'll.try to.learn more.and.more...but I am.so.scared...even my girlfriend says to.relax. I was... ohh shes.cold...oh shes.afraid dobt do that.... but I love my guin pig
Have you considered getting a second guinea pig so your female has a friend?
I left a brush at the guinea pig rescue for you. Did you get it?
How often should you wash the water bottles out?
smell them, you'll know. after half empty they start to get funky huh?"
All but the 5 babies were all rescues ❤❤
Edit: I told both people to immediately seperate their opposite sex pigs and explained to them what to do if it was too late and the female was already pregnant.
Yes pls Breeding is not at all cool. Rescuers are heroes.
