sorry to be so off topic but does any of you know a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Jaden Roy i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hey man…I can count the number of times I’ve commented on anyone’s RUclips video on my left hand which is missing two fingers. The reason being is that it’s a waste of my time. This being one of the few exceptions to write you a long winded thank you. Not just for this video but for all of them. You are on point bro. You saved me a lot of money and pain over the years for real. Your tutorials are the easiest to grasp. So thanks for explaining it so that a dumb rough neck like me could understand it enough to get by. It really means a lot to me. Sincerely-G.
This sounds exactly like the problem I have on a 230,000 Mercedes 300D: I was thinking motor mounts and or shocks. This 68 year old appreciates your videos! I will try this since my front tires are getting thin and I have two more to replace them. Please keep them coming. Thanks!
Warped brake rotors can cause vibration also. If you notice a pulsating feeling or a shake when you brake, try getting your rotors turned, or new rotors.
I have watched the video a . Now I'm going yo scroll through the comments to find out what he did wrong and what he didn't do right . Its so lovely that so many mechanics are willing to sacrifice their time here on RUclips :)
Thank God for this video. A while ago the tire hit a pothole. The car began to shake. My tire almost blew up on me this morning. A woman told me that the tire was shaking. After feeling the tire imbalance, it was true there was damage. Thankfully, the tire shop had a quality replacement tire available.
I have a 2010 dodge grand caravan with aftermarket rims and new tires I bought last fall. I knew from, my past experience that your diagnosis of vibration is caused by bent rim or wheel balance issues. Wife will now go to a mechanic and not get ripped off because your video will give the easiest remedy and go from there. Thank you and I will inform you of our success soon! thanks!
I've had a vibration issue on my 05 TSX for half a year and it doesn't help diagnosing when multiple suspension components are also worn out, haha. Thanks to your video, I have now narrowed it down to the CV axles, they're the original ones. I recommend to stay away from Duralast axles if you have a Honda, vibrations will persist. Acura has stopped selling remanufactured axles for the first generation TSX. I'm going to buy my axles from insane shafts.
I had a mystery vibration on my 04 Lesabre. Lot of folks complained about it and it was a common complaint. I even read people saying the lower control arms being aluminum made the wheels sensitive to how tight the lugs were (yeah okay now they were just reaching). So I went on a quest to find out the cause. I had already eliminated the bad tranny mount jerk that is common but every so often I would still feel it happen if braking then quickly accelerating. This told me it had something to do with that front mount. What I discovered was it was one of the few cars that got powered by a 3800 Series II and a 4T65E trans that didn't have top torque mounts. Sorry to say but the lower one just isn't enough to keep the engine from rolling back. This is also causes a vibration to be transmitted back to the driver and passenger along with an occasional jerk. How to eliminate the problem is easy but requires quite a bit of work and a trip to a local junk yard. First you will need the top mount bracket from a Impala the one that mounts to the driver side and bolt it to the same spot on the head. Next you need one of the Y mounts too don't matter the car they are all the same. Then you will need the bracket in front of the radiator from an 00 to 02 Olds Intrigue. This bracket was made slightly different and actually curves downward. You need to remove the lower portion of it then cut an access hole in the rad bar on the Lesabre then take your intrigue mount and drop it in front of the fans with the bulk facing the engine. The Y needs to be positioned pointing down towards the rad to clear the rad bar. Bolt everything together and bring it into alignment. This made a huge improvement but a little fab work is required. GM should have included the top mounts on the Lesabre instead of depending on a single crappy designed mount to support it. This still allows the engine to roll slightly back with greater ease thus no vibes or jerks are felt by the occupants. Sorry for the long winded explanation but a lot of people have this vibration in the Lesabre and would benefit greatly from the info. Good video BTW.
A sticking brake caliper will also cause serious vibration issues especially in the front. A good way to check is to see if one of your wheels is hot to the touch. If it is then that's your problem. You will also most likely need new pads as one side will be worn down more than the other.
Actually he doesn't know what he's talking about,,,Could also be a bad tire rod ,, could also be a bad strut . Could be one of your weights came off your tire balance if your lucky...Your car could be out of alignment
Just bought a 01 Legacy GT from a private owner and that car had the same issue. I noticed the steering wheel would shake when I got to 55-70mph too. Glad I found this vid and I'll follow those steps. Hope it's just a bad tire or the tire needs to be balanced.
Very helpful and honest video. My problem is minor but noticeable vibration at the steering wheel starting at 57 mph and peak vibration at 60-63 mph, then appears to go away. Exactly what you described. I had my tires and tie rods and alignment checked and OK, but did not balance the front wheels. Will do balancing next. Thank you , Sir! Thumbs up!
@@macknumber9 Yes, amazingly, by balancing the wheels on that special computerized machine at Discount Tires, the problem resolved, and now, two years later, works fine. No vibration at any speed.
@@H.pylori I guess the fact that it goes away at higher speeds is what points towards a tire problem and if it doesn't go away at higher speeds then must look at suspension components like maybe axle or control arm bushings
I went to do alignment at Jupiter Chevrolet Dealer in Dallas after some work done on the suspension. Since I balanced the new tires just w/Harbor Freight Balancer, I ordered balancing as well, hoping on their good equipment. But when I checked the torques on wheels and drive axle, I was amazed to see, that the lug nuts on rear wheels are coming out by hand. I always check the torques after any shop, since they never do it to specs (or undertorque or overtorque), but I've never seen the lug nuts to be left so loose. Most likely after I did the rear suspension part, I didn't torque the rear wheels, thinking I'll do everything after the front suspension part. After the front suspension I decided to check AC, replaced many parts there, installed a new radiator, so it was a lot, and I didn't check the rear wheels after all that, thinking if the cover plates are there, I torqued them. It was my mistake most likely, but then it comes that the wheels (at least rear) were never taken off, bcs how an expert fm Dealer could not to tighten wheels on the rear at all, if he removed them to put on the machine and put them back. So I'm in doubts about all that, and try to determine if the wheels were balanced or not with the methods described in this film. Thank you, it was very informative.
I had a problem with my vibration. Had them balanced etc.Didn't solve my problem. Thought maybe wheel bearings etc. Than I decided to take a known good tire from my other vehicle and installed them one my car, a 2010 toyota camry se. I took it for a test drive on the highway until till the vibration finally went away. I found the suspect tire. Bought a replacement tire. And installed it. Problem went away. Checked the suspect removed bad tire and visually from the outside it looked great. However when inspecting the inside part of the tire saw a noticeable lump on the tire. From the outside it looked great in that spot. Anyways problem fixed.
Good observation to include that alignment generally doesn't cause a vibration. The toe could be SO BAD that a tire skips across the concrete to cause shaking, but good grief that would be serious toe in or out.
I appreciate this video. My Sentra shakes at around 50MPH and it gets better when I go faster but it still there. I’ll do all the steps before doing the hard part.
Man, i'm glad I saw this video, took you advice about balancing my tires when I was keep getting these wheel shakes when i'm going 50+mph. Go them balance and ran like new, ...come to find out although they were brand new tires, those clown never balanced them, it was 4.50 off on both front tires damn. Thanks again man!
old comment, i know... but if they're new tires you're rims could be bent.... or the tire has too much run out, which will only balance up to about 60-70mph if you're lucky
My tire was slowly leaking and I put some tire inflator on it and didn't drive around long enough. The next day my steering wheel was shaking. Th an you for the tip and the other popular RUclips video conveyed to me that I needed to change the shocks. I didn't look at RUclips again for a week and a half trying to find a way to come up with $500 for new shocks. Then I find this video and now I'm going to the tire shop to get my wheels balanced.
One of the cars I am driving is my mother’s 1987 Chrysler LeBaron that had 6K miles on it when she died. She always maintained it, kept it garaged, and as a result, looks showroom new. Zero rust on the undercarriage and engine looks new. I still keep it garaged. It now has 27K miles on it. Over the past several weeks I have been diving my mechanic crazy for the past several weeks. I had my front shocks replaced with an alignment and now my car shakes when I drive. Slow, fast, it doesn’t matter. I brought it back to the shop and they rebalanced my tires. Problem still happens. Gets worse the faster I go. I feel the vibration in my seat and to a lesser degree, the steering wheel. The shaking is predominately in the front passenger side. Mechanic checked the tires for wear (only 21K miles on them but they are switched to winter every fall so even less wear than that) and broken belts. Also checked the rim. No problems found. We are at a loss. The mechanic doesn’t think it has anything to do with the bearing. I do hear a slight (road?) hum but always associated that with the tire going over the road surface and the hum doesn’t get loader or softer. No noise with turns. Any idea what could possibly be going on here? I really don’t want to throw any more money into an older car but the car is now a classic and in pristine condition otherwise. Would hate to get rid of this blast from the past.
Thank You so much RnW. Too many vids on vibration issues on Rear Wheel and All Wheel vehicles but do not address the vibration issues with the Front Wheel Drivers. Thank You so much for enlightening us on this common issue 👍.
Just a heads up if you've ever used any of that tire flat stuff to fix a flat tire it turns to liquid inside your tire and at around 60 to 65 mph that liquid begins to spin inside the tire at a different speed than the tire does and that causes it to go out of balance and can cause shaking. I've had that happen twice when I've used that tire flat tire sealant to fix a flat tire. Frankly I'm never going to use that stuff again unless I absolutely have to. Now I take a pack of plugs with me and I take a tire inflator that can plug into the cigarette lighter to reinflate the tire after I plug the hole. That tire flat foam stuff in the can is very tough to get out of the wheel you have to know which wheel it is and you have to have somebody take the tire off the rim and then they have to be willing to clean it out and a lot of times they're just not willing to do that.
My new used crossover use to shake when ever I hit around 90km, plus mine would pull hard to the left, I had 2 alignments done and it didn’t help. It ended up being the cheap tires that mine came with because soon as I dove the car with the new Goodyear’s it drove like a new car. Smoother, quieter, no shake or pulling. Never go the cheap route when buying tires is what I learned lol.
Drift 2JZ funny thing is a shop actually did that to me once. Tire came off going 60 on the highway. Slowest moment of the life. I swear the tire froze for a few seconds in front of the car as I just stared at it with wide eyes
@@harrypottersucks12 yes.... and you wouldn't be able to make it out of the parking lot with no lugs on.... and being a human.... I've never once mounted a tire and not put the lugs on. It just doesn't happen
@@charleslobster3592 I know how that is. When I was just out of high school I was in my buddy's Nissan Pathfinder and some jerk loosened his lugs when we were in a Walmart and it wasn't visually noticeable from walking around the car. We were going down a curvy road going speed limit (50mph) and the front drivers side wheel goes thump thump womp and we watched as the wheel shot off the pathfinder outran us and then flew off the road and into the woods hauling ass. We were on 3 wheels and he managed to keep his calm and I directed him to use the handbrake and go easy on the turns. We made it to a gravel entry with a gate and managed to slow down, get there on 3 wheels, and carefully pull the pathfinder up on the gravel before stopping and the whole drivers side front slamming onto the ground. We were alive and 6 years later I'm still alive to write this.
Hey video is great. You should also talk about a stuck caliper or warped rotors. My caliper went bad in the winter and when the tires got hot enough the car would get severe wheel vibrations as the brakes swelled up
Thanks for the tip, my tires have like 50,000 miles, but they are in good shape, I drive lot of highway miles. I do get them rotated every 10,000 miles or so. I'll try to get them balanced first and if it it doesn't work, then I'll replace them.
Hi! Thanks for the video.I have the same problem. I balanced the tires and it got better then one week later the shimmy came back. this happened twice, do I have faulty tires or tire shop could not properly balance the tires?
HELP! I have new tires, I had the wheels balanced again and I replaced the cv axles (both). Some of the shaking went away and I can drive about 10 mph faster but above 70 the car shakes too much. The steering wheel does not shake. It's just the front end. Do you happen to have any other ideas of what it might be? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
4:34 "I recommend replacing both front cv shafts", do you have any advice about aftermarket CV axles? Genuine parts for my vehicle run $550-$650 for one axle, but I've heard various comments and advice that aftermarket CV axles are hit or miss. I've read one guy say they skimp on grease, another one mentioned Volkswagon having a TSB on aftermarket axles causing vibration issues. I'm looking at these SurTrack axles there's not much reviews for my vehicle but that brand on other vehicles seems to have favorable ratings on Amazon. What's your take on aftermarket axles?
I put new tyres on the back few days ago, but ask the guy to make them balanced, he was explain me that i do not need balance on the back, but i told him him that i will mive this tyres in front. And this is what i do it on the weekend. And today on the motorway, with over 65 miles, i have this strong play shake like in your video. Thinking what to do to visit same shop or another one for balance. This guy was using rolling machine from old school, not like the newone with pc screen and showing exactly the weight needed for balance. Hmmm hope 🙏 is just balance.
2:23 improper balance is a big issue, shouldnt it take multiple attempts to balance a tire? the last seconds of information was very helpful, what does not cause a wheel jimmy.
My car is vibrating horribly from 65 to about 80. Am I right to assume that it is not the tires since this has been happening for years even before and after rotating the tires and having them balanced? If I get it up over 80 it seems to not vibrate as much so there is some kind of resonance where it's peaking at about 70 mph. I'm worried something is rubbing or loose and that means it will wear down and become worse. I just took it to Goodyear and told them but I doubt they even looked at it. The rotated the tires (supposedly but when I called back the lady said they only BALANCED them even though I told them the day I took it in I needed them rotated AND balanced and the pulling to the right fixed AND the vibrating IF POSSIBLE). So, instead of taking it in to goodyear AGAIN tomorrow and not having my car, I thought to avail myself of the net and see if I could maybe diagnose it or a range it could be. Some axle bent or something loose maybe? It still vibrates lower than 70 just not to where it feels the car is about to literally fall apart. It's a Buick LeSabre 2004. Anyway, thanks.
nope. But this place (Ford dealership) said they fixed it but what they did was over inflate my tires w/o telling me. they were 40 lb instead of 33. It did fix the vibration say by 65% or so but there's something off somewhere so I just had the oil place put the pressure back to 33 and luckily, I almost never have to drive over 30. :)
look around the edges of your rim, they could be bent. i've had bent rims before and like you said, it's usually 65-80 where they seem the worst. they'll still vibrate over 80mph but it's less noticeable
Just had my wheels and tires balanced. My question is, wouldn't the mechanics at the shop notice if the rim is bent while they are balancing the wheels and tires? I am still going to check if it is bent anyways.
So I um well I have a 05 Saturn ion and kinda did a burn out on a curb and after it started doing this shaking at 55 and above could it just be the tires got worn? They are basically new tires and the burn out was weak and short but I’m not sure also was doing some e-break drifts in the snowy parking lots 😬😬 any ideas??
I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey (123K miles) has steering vibrating severely at 60-75 mpg. I recently replaced all four shocks, the backward lower control arm bushing (they were cracked), but the steering is still vibrating especially in high speed. All four tires are still new, and today I rotated the tires, but the vibration still would not go away. What do you think I should go after next? The ball joints seem to be good, although the lower ball joints have some leaky grease but it shouldn't be the main suspect for continuous vibration, right?
Gonna try switching the front wheels to the back, I noticed my vehicle vibrating between 60-70 mph right after I got new tires installed, got them balanced and all.
If your steering wheel vibrates/shakes at low speeds, 15-40 MPH then your front tires are bad. This is VERY serious and need to be replaced immediately. Vibration at highway speeds (as in the video) don't indicate any imminent safety issue, but still means some type of maintenance is needed. The sooner the better, but not as urgent as vibration at low speeds.
Can the bad tire vibration cause side mirrors to shake too when driving on higher speeds? Looks like the driver side mirror on my car shakes more than the passenger side outside mirror. Any thoughts?
Thanks. I have a 1999 Bonneville SE. 144k miles. Put in 2 new front tires. Signification vibration at 70 to 77 mph made worse when cruise control is turned on. Are the CV shafts the issue here also? Thanks !
Well that helped me rule out everything I was thinking of doing to my suspension. Just the video I needed to run down exactly where I should be looking for the vibrations. Thank you for the video, major help.
My car is giving me mild vibrations on take off. It then runs smooth till ~85km/h. Above this speed or >90km/h, the vibration seems to soften out but is still there. its worst point is around 85km/h. Doesnt matter if I'm accelerating, cruising or braking. The highest level of vibration is at 85km/h and when I go around a gradual bend. I've had it aligned and my wheels and tyres are brand new and all balanced. Does anyone have any suggestions? Car details: 2017 Australian Ford Ranger PX2 XLT
I HAVE A 2002 HONDA ODYSSEY. I HAVE DONE THE FOLLOWING; REPLACED TIE RODS; SWAY BAR LINK, CONTROL ARMS WITH BALL JOINT, STEERING 7 SUSPENSION KIT, ALSO ALIGNMENT AND BALANCED. BUT IS STILL SHAKING ONCE I HIT 60+ MPH. IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE I CAN CHECK OR WORK WITH?... HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU... THANKS FOR YOUR HELP...
James Bailey Hey; For some reason my mom thinks I can diagnose issues over the phone 300 miles away. Gotta love Mom's. They got suckered into buying a 2010 Diesel F-250 SD. Not sure why other than her hubby said it spoke to him. As a guy I guess I can justify that. :))) Well it seems to have a almost Uncontrollable shake at 70 Mph. This truck only has 25 thousand miles, which thru up a flag with me. It went back to ???? dealer and they looked it over and said they all do that with all the electronic tech. This seems to be the norm for fly by night dealers. It has almost new tires and you would think with that few miles it should be much else. It drives great at all speeds up to 70ish. I was thinking if truck had set for years it could be shocks. I did not think about flat spots in tires. I'll have them check that. Thanks.
4:50 i am curious about his statement about the alignment does not associate with steering wheel vibration at highway speed. google search this topic, some articles are suggesting the opposite
I got new wheels and tires installed. They said they aligned and balanced them but my steering wheel still shakes even the passenger can feel it. Sometimes it doesn’t shake though. Should I go to another place to get them balanced for sure or replace the cv bars?
CV Shafts are only for FWD or AWD right? Well I have a pickup truck. 2005 Tundra RWD and they just balaced My wheels! Im guessing by balancing it eliminated the bent wheel or bad uneven tires right? What could be My issue???
Hi there I have a 2003 Nissan sentra my car got stuck in the mud and it shakes when driving over 50 miles an hour. I cleaned everything off and balanced the wheels could it be the hub? When I was stuck I turned the wheel and heard a pop.
I just had mine tire rotate and balanced last month but still the vibration doesn't stops when i hit 70 miles/hr. Few months back i saw that few grease was leaking from my passenger side wheel. Does this looks like my CV axle needs to be replaced? But i don't hear any clicking noise when i make a turn.
My car seems to shake at low speeds right up to about 60mph then you can't feel it. My passenger could feel it too, so it's not just through the steering wheel. Any ideas please? I had a quick look underneath and I think I could see grease somewhere near the front drivers side wheel. Don't know if that's related. I need to have a good look. Your help would be much appreciated thanks
I always thought uneven tyre wear was mainly caused by bad tracking setting. Or is it called runout setting in the US? That or loose and worn out steering or suspension joints.
I just replaced new front struts, and the car is having vibrations on 65 mph and higher. Do i need wheel alignment after replacing the struts or maybe ill do the wheel balancing first?
I recently developed a front end vibration at highway speeds right after I installed new front KYB struts on my 02' Camry, (a few months ago I replaced all 4 tires and rims and got them balanced). Any ideas on what I should check for to eliminate the vibration? Thank you!
Another great video. Thank you. I have a FWD car. I am experiencing some vibration when I reach 70mph. I'm pretty sure that both my front wheels are balanced properly. Is it important for the rear wheels to be balanced in a FWD car?
So I drive a 08 rx8 and last week my car began to wobble really bad...I JUST fixed a ton of mechanical issues after purchasing not long ago. So as I'm driving down the road, it begins to shake and a lug nut and the thread it was attached to snapped off and it kept shaking worse and worse. Any suggestions/information?
07 Impala.. Whole car is vibrating.. Changed wheel bearings. Axles. Tie rods. New slotted rotors and pads. Sway bars and links. New tires balanced and alignment. Rotated rear wheels to the front still same Vibration at all speeds especially 80 +mph more like pulsating vibration...
I have a 2006 Impala. My steering wheel doesn't vibrate but when driving on the highway up to 60 - 70 mph my passenger seat trembles a bit, i would get off and feel what i may assume is my muffler moving a bit so i hit the emergency brakes and release and the trembling stops, i went to a muffler shop and they said all is good that it might be the motor supports so i switch those but the problem persists.... I know I might need an alignment since my tires are getting eaten up, and my wheel carriages need maintenance as well as new brakes. Could that be the problem or any other ideas.
Mines do the same thing at 55 mph and up my passenger side seat headrest shakes when this happens also I can feel it in the gas pedal the steering wheel doesn't shake as bad, what is your expert opinion of what could be the problem? Thanks in advance
thanks brother, this video helped me alot. just a question, i have nissan altima 2012 2.5s and it is shaking once it reaches 90 kmh and go on. can you please explain what to do. i fixed full suspension with all 4 mounts and 4 shock absorbers kyb. still it does.
my jeep shakes 43--50 mp I don't know what it is I already did rotation to the back and and balance the two front wheels the person at the tire shop told me that the two front tires are badly worn. out so he switched them to the back and balance the ones that stay in the front can that be my problem do I just need time for the Tigers to get worn out properly evenly someone please help please
LOL, if you are serious about that then it may be alignment my 2014 jetta was having vibration for the whole car while accelerating from 70 to 100 mph i got a 4 wheel alignment (shop told me it was completely off) and it was all good
Edgaras Beiga Man screw vibration i was living in 2050 and accidently went 500mph on my beat up classic honda civic and traveled back in time to this date and man your technology sucks ass 😂😂😂
Sometimes vibrations can be caused by underlying problem in the engine. Could be a sign of bad crankshaft etc. but checking tyres first would be a good first step
Hello mam u video is awesome I have a Jeep Wrangler shaking Soo bad sometimes I hear alot people different options I would like to take know some people say is the Ball join ,I all ready balance the 4tires but when I put In neutral stop shaking thanks
Hi nice educative video,im having the same issue since the front tires bearings wea replaced. the steering wheel and both normal gear and fourwheel gears are also shaking very rapildy at 60kmph .what could be the issue ?im driving a suzuki jimny manual transmission.
hey man I have 04 civic It wheel shacking only when am hit the brake around 45 MPH. new brake rotors , pads ,wheel, tires . Do you think anything problem on those ? or something els ? thank you
You may have a sticking caliper. Check your caliper slides and grease them if needed (I use 3M 08946 silicone paste). You might consider purchasing an infrared thermometer to check the rotor temps for a variance between the left side and the right side (Etekcity Lasergrip 800 is cheap and works well). Beware that a high temp on one side of the car may actually indicate an issue on the opposite, which was true of a seized slide in my case.
Thank you R.A.W. we car owners with the vibration problem want to spend dollars to get rid of this annoying problem. But we want the mechanics to diagnose correctly. the mechanics I have been to are not able to narrow down to one or two causes. changed tires, balanced, without mechanic's advice. I changed the axle and my mechanic pointed at just one CV axle and I though he is helping me save money. damn. I am wrong.
I have a Lexus LS 430. Car drives perfect except at speeds of 50-70 MPH, when the steering wheel shakes. I can drive 80 MPH all day long and it's super smooth. I have new Conti extreme contacts, and have had the wheels balanced twice (second time was road force balance.) I've had the car looked over by two Toyota mechanics and both say suspension looks good. The wheels do look banged up, and I will replace them soon, but both places said they balanced out. Thoughts?
id replace your steering fluid and the disconnect your power steering fluid hose (air out them bubble for 30 minutes) & they your car should run like new!
Wheels can balance out and STILL vibrate. What causes that vibration is the road force in lbs on each wheel. You need to have your wheels checked bends and warping by spinning them up on the machine and checking visually and also by checking the rim runout plot graph. After that they need to be properly road forced( ALOT of places dont do it right). I've had wheels with 35+ lbs of road force brought down to only 8lbs and vibration went away.
If i live in a snowy area and snow builds up in my wheel well and touches the tires of my car could this cause shaking at high speeds? Cause i got on the interstate today and right at around 65+ mph the vibrations got really bad and also if the psi in the tires is off by like 2 or 3 psi could this cause it too and my car is fwd btw if that helps
My car 2011 Elantra doing this now . Got new tire on left n used on right side . I got struts replaced n inner n outer tyrods replaced too. This noise started few days ago now .
Hi, My car steering shakes at 90 km/h and onwards when i went to change my winter tires i asked the mechanic to diagnose the problem he checked tie end rod and suspension n said everything seems fine. He suggested me to switch the front wheels with the rear wheels just to see if the problem eliminates but it got worse it started to shake at even 30km/hr. So i am assuming the wheels are severely bent and i know its not the tires because my winter tires were brand new when the problem started. What would you suggest?
+abhishek narang Year/make/model of your vehicle? Does it do it just while accelerating, or coasting, or braking, or any of those in combination? Is it constant at the speed it starts vibrating at, or is it intermittent so that it'll go away randomly while driving at the same speed, the same exact way that makes it vibrate, and then come back randomly still with no changes to speed or driving conditions? Do you feel any of it in your seat, or is it just in the steering wheel? These are the type of things necessary for someone to be able to help at all, and then still going based off of text description alone, it's very hard to pin down to something specific.
I appreciate you telling us what DOESN'T cause shaking. Prevents untrustworthy mechanics from charging us extra work. SUPER HELPFUL thank you

Thank you and I will inform you of our success soon! thanks!
I appreciate this! I took my car on a bit of a road trip last week and noticed the issue. It's due for a tune-up anyway, so it works out.
Moral of the story: Wheel Alignment doesn't cause this issue. Thank you for saving me a few hundred bucks
This was exactly my problem. Had the front wheels balanced and no more shimmy. Thank you. Please keep posting
I have a 01 and i noticed it vibs at about 75. Not alot but its noticeable.
I have an 04 that is also a mystery.....Sounds like you need to do a utube video to show what you did.....
A sticking brake caliper will also cause serious vibration issues especially in the front. A good way to check is to see if one of your wheels is hot to the touch. If it is then that's your problem. You will also most likely need new pads as one side will be worn down more than the other.
finally someone who knows what he's talking about
I agree
Actually he doesn't know what he's talking about,,,Could also be a bad tire rod ,, could also be a bad strut . Could be one of your weights came off your tire balance if your lucky...Your car could be out of alignment
Just bought a 01 Legacy GT from a private owner and that car had the same issue. I noticed the steering wheel would shake when I got to 55-70mph too. Glad I found this vid and I'll follow those steps. Hope it's just a bad tire or the tire needs to be balanced.
Shean M Odds are good its one or the other. Thanks for watching.
Yup all it needed was balancing, it now runs smooth 55+. Vid helped out a lot, thx!
Thumbs up!
Did it help?
Thanks for the tip, my front tires need changing asap! I ran my hands on them and I notice depression on both sides.
rmtheg234 sweet, glad you found the problem. GL
THANK YOU For Posting This Video, NOW I Know That The Culprit of My Problem is The CV Shaft..
I appreciate this video. My Sentra shakes at around 50MPH and it gets better when I go faster but it still there. I’ll do all the steps before doing the hard part.
Did you figure out the issue?
Man, i'm glad I saw this video, took you advice about balancing my tires when I was keep getting these wheel shakes when i'm going 50+mph. Go them balance and ran like new, ...come to find out although they were brand new tires, those clown never balanced them, it was 4.50 off on both front tires damn. Thanks again man!
Thelicien Petit-homme Sweet, glad the video helped you out. Thanks for your comment, cheers.
Thelicien Petit-homme I have brand new tires too and I think they messed up the balance... going tomorrow
old comment, i know... but if they're new tires you're rims could be bent.... or the tire has too much run out, which will only balance up to about 60-70mph if you're lucky
4.50 geeze... on what beefy off-road tires?
Thanks bro!Just got this problem done just now and tested. Now no more shaking steering wheel!
Thank You so much RnW. Too many vids on vibration issues on Rear Wheel and All Wheel vehicles but do not address the vibration issues with the Front Wheel Drivers. Thank You so much for enlightening us on this common issue 👍.
I had vibration at many different speeds , and u r correct the tire guy advice balancing my front tires , and solve the issue . Thanks for the vid .
You can use a bike 🛞 pump too.
I found my problem, I forgot to put the lug nuts on.
Drift 2JZ funny thing is a shop actually did that to me once. Tire came off going 60 on the highway. Slowest moment of the life. I swear the tire froze for a few seconds in front of the car as I just stared at it with wide eyes
Charles Lobster there’s no way that’s true
Dayton Wintle you know HUMANS work at auto shops and HUMANS make mistakes.... I believe it
@@harrypottersucks12 yes.... and you wouldn't be able to make it out of the parking lot with no lugs on.... and being a human....
My caliper went bad in the winter and when the tires got hot enough the car would get severe wheel vibrations as the brakes swelled up
Thanks so much. Glad nothing happened to you while driving and recording the video. Have a great weekend.
My car shakes just like your video. I am praying it is just a balancing issue, thank you.
I hope its something simple as that!
Give us an update
It was my driver side wheel it had a bump like a bubble. I bought new tires and everything is good
What did it make u think at first?
Thanks for the tip, my tires have like 50,000 miles, but they are in good shape, I drive lot of highway miles. I do get them rotated every 10,000 miles or so. I'll try to get them balanced first and if it it doesn't work, then I'll replace them.
Hi! Thanks for the video.I have the same problem. I balanced the tires and it got better then one week later the shimmy came back. this happened twice, do I have faulty tires or tire shop could not properly balance the tires?
Could have lost a wheel weight if they weren't stuck on right.
Great video, I would like to add that shaking can also be a result of soft control or thrust arm bushings.
Sounds like an engine mount could be loose or broken take it to the mechanic to look at the engine
Great video man...my tires are all jacked up causing horrible vibration when accelerating.
Anyway, thanks.
check your tie rods. if they are loose you will notice. especially if its been for years. safety issue. cost from 25-70$ per depending
I can't check anything due to physical issues but maybe I will take it to a transmission shop or something. Thanks for the tip.
Did you ever find out what it was? My car drives fine except between 50-70 when it shakes. Drives real smooth over 70 though.
nope. But this place (Ford dealership) said they fixed it but what they
did was over inflate my tires w/o telling me. they were 40 lb instead
of 33. It did fix the vibration say by 65% or so but there's something
off somewhere so I just had the oil place put the pressure back to 33
and luckily, I almost never have to drive over 30. :)
look around the edges of your rim, they could be bent. i've had bent rims before and like you said, it's usually 65-80 where they seem the worst. they'll still vibrate over 80mph but it's less noticeable
I absolutely love your channel.
Thanks very helpful video. My steering was vibrating between 50-60 mph. Up to 70 MPH, the vibration went away.
Howard Fox what was the issue
Just had my wheels and tires balanced. My question is, wouldn't the mechanics at the shop notice if the rim is bent while they are balancing the wheels and tires? I am still going to check if it is bent anyways.
So I um well I have a 05 Saturn ion and kinda did a burn out on a curb and after it started doing this shaking at 55 and above could it just be the tires got worn? They are basically new tires and the burn out was weak and short but I’m not sure also was doing some e-break drifts in the snowy parking lots 😬😬 any ideas??
My wheel only vibrates slightly at 64-65 mph. It's very minor but very curious what it could be.
Very informative and well explained. helped me figure out my issue! Thanks!
Swapped front and rear tires. Fixed the problem. I’ll go get new tires now 🤣 dealership tried to tell me it was the control arms and sway bars 🤣
Gonna try switching the front wheels to the back, I noticed my vehicle vibrating between 60-70 mph right after I got new tires installed, got them balanced and all.
What was it ? I have the same problem.. bent rims ?
@@andreifelea7205 bad rear hub bearing, once it was replaced the truck stopped vibrating completely.
Good idea!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video
Great video bro. What a blessing this is to me
Lol that's awesome
Yea I'm learning all about cars now
My car is giving me mild vibrations on take off.

I think mine's the CV Shaft, Cause the car vibrates exactly how you explained it!

Hey; For some reason my mom thinks I can diagnose issues over the phone 300 miles away.
That's because you're correct...He's forgetting a lot of stuff
Thanks this really helps me out with my vibration issue.
I get vibration only at low rpm when accelerating about 1,500rpm and 70mph when going up a slight hill on fwy. Any thoughts?
Really easy to understand and very helpful thank you
I just had mine tire rotate and balanced last month but still the vibration doesn't stops when i hit 70 miles/hr.
Thanks in advance

my jeep shakes 43--50 mp I don't know what it is I already did rotation to the back and and balance the two front wheels the person at the tire shop told me that the two front tires are badly worn. out so he switched them to the back and balance the ones that stay in the front can that be my problem do I just need time for the Tigers to get worn out properly evenly someone please help please
How about vibration on 110-130mph?
Edgaras Beiga lol 😂😂😂 slow down.. I normally don't pay attention at 150 myself if I die I die
LOL, if you are serious about that then it may be alignment my 2014 jetta was having vibration for the whole car while accelerating from 70 to 100 mph i got a 4 wheel alignment (shop told me it was completely off) and it was all good
yeah i think there a vibration when i go about 200mph. strange...
just go faster it will stop vibrating very typical at those speeds
Edgaras Beiga Man screw vibration i was living in 2050 and accidently went 500mph on my beat up classic honda civic and traveled back in time to this date and man your technology sucks ass 😂😂😂
Sometimes vibrations can be caused by underlying problem in the engine. Could be a sign of bad crankshaft etc. but checking tyres first would be a good first step
Would having plastic hub centric rings instead of aluminum that aren’t fit snugly cause vibration around 70-80mph. Thanks
If i recently chance both axes do you think that they could bend after 1000 miles
Bad control arm bushings can cause this as well. My E320 Mercedes had that problem and it would shake just like shown here with the Kia.

Beware that a high temp on one side of the car may actually indicate an issue on the opposite, which was true of a seized slide in my case.
thanks man on how you thoroughly explained things.
Thoughts?
id replace your steering fluid and the disconnect your power steering fluid hose (air out them bubble for 30 minutes) & they your car should run like new!
brake rotors can be warped also, if you haven't had your brakes serviced, try that
Wheels can balance out and STILL vibrate.
My apologizes I meant wheel balance can be perfect and wheel still vibrate.
U have a bad tire just cause it's balanced doesn't mean ur tires are good guarenteed that's ur problem get new tires
Thank you for the video.
My car 2011 Elantra doing this now . Got new tire on left n used on right side . I got struts replaced n inner n outer tyrods replaced too. This noise started few days ago now .
I have a a 02 Tacoma and I get a steering shake at about 50-60 pretty bad. Where should I start my elimination process?
Super helpful! Really glad to have seen your yt channel!
